It's fun to see all the different Salvation Army locations. This store was huge and clean. My guess is it is so huge because it used to be a Kroger's grocery store. I'm so happy it was converted to a Salvation Army vs, say a Halloween Store, lol! There was a huge selection of wares from art to clothes to appliances with wide isles to navigate. I push mom in her transporter chair so we appreciate the wide isles. The location is ideal, close to the 59 freeway with plenty of parking outside. I purchased a like new black cardigan sweater and a nice dressy tank top for when the warm weather returns. I also found a cool flower emblem that I added to one of my purses. This tiny little shop (and I mean TINY) was abuzz with customers jockeying around trying to look at the merchandise. It was so crowded, it was practically impossible. At first, I thought the place was packed. In truth, there were probably only six people inside, but it was at least four too many. This store is small! There's really only room for two shoppers at most during any given moment. It's a shame because the shop is cute. They sell a lot of "upcycled" and DIY steampunk creations. If you know anything about steampunk style, you realize the amount of ingenuity, craftsmanship and creativity necessary to bang this stuff out and, furthermore, you can appreciate it for being art. The stuff is lovely, unusual and well-crafted- and highly breakable. Honestly, I didn't feel terribly comfortable navigating all of that fragile gear and I'm tiny. What the heck would one do if they weren't so small? My 6"4 husband felt compelled to wait it out on the sidewalk while I was shopping. That was probably a good idea. He felt claustrophobia coming on, anyway, and he isn't claustrophobic in the least bit (until he set foot in this store, so there's that). I was so afraid of accidentally knocking something over that it spoiled the mood to shop. I was interested in a piece of two because I like steampunk design and the small sculptures/art, tables, lamps and other decorative pieces looked really interesting, but it was impossible to turn around. They simply had too much stock on the floor and not enough room to walk, let alone browse. I found that to be a turnoff. I couldn't even bend over or turn around very well to look for the price tag on a side table that I liked. I think think the store could be better served if they removed just a tad bit of merchandise off the floor, making a little leg room instead of trying to capitalize on their limited space by stocking the place to the brim. It was simply too tight and not at all inviting. It's just simply not pleasant to shop that way. If I'm walking around a crowded estate sale with everything strewn all over the place, that's one thing. This is different. If the management had bothered to remove just one side table toppling over with additional merchandise from the sales floor, it might have made all the difference. As for customer service, there really was none of which to speak. The lady behind the counter seemed disinterested in the customers and ignored two people attempting to grab her attention. I watched them leave in disgust. I was tempted to ask her for the price of that little table that I thought was so adorable, but she didn't seem approachable, so I didn't bother. Perhaps she was overwhelmed by how crowded the store was with only half a dozen people shopping at any given moment? The few prices I could find seemed a bit on the higher end, but this was downtown Holly and the "upcycled" steampunk gear could be considered art, so it didn't seem out of line with my expectations. I would probably give this place another shot, but it would have to be pretty much devoid of other shoppers in order to have a better shopping experience next time.

It's still shiny and new! Nonetheless, it's a nice store, typical for H&M, with attractive displays and carefully designed "sale areas," etc. I was pretty excited to see this place finally open. Alas, it seemed like construction took forever, as in months behind the schedule! I don't get what the holdup was, but the final product looks pretty great. Indeed, this is actually a pretty large H&M in comparison to some, which is great because they have so much to offer. I was impressed by how well this place was run upon my initial shopping visit here, but I hope the service and cleanliness don't go by the wayside after it's operational for awhile. At least, that's what I've noticed at other H&M retail locations I've shopped in before. This one had a really nice layout and better than average selection, including on the men's side of the store (my husband was pretty happy about that). That isn't always the case. At any rate, there were no clothes jumbled together or displays in disarray or items that looked trampled on (something I've seen before at the H&M in Novi). The service was pretty good, with friendly (though not particularly "super friendly") salespeople. The clearance section, while this is a new store, seemed rather well thought-out, too. I was extremely annoyed along with many other runners at the Flint Crim this year that complete runner had their own TWO port-a-John's labeled for Complete runner employees only. When my wife attempted to use one minutes before the Crim they said those are for employees only and turned her and many other women away to go wait in long lines while there was zero lines for their private port a Johns that were inside the public area for the race. What a joke. It totally put a bad taste in my mouth along with dozens of other runners we spoke with. Everyone was up in arms about it and I feel their potential business may suffer from these novice employees rude decisions AT A PUBLIC EVENT FOR RUNNERS
