Choices of fast ball, curve and 1 other I don't remember :) also have the option of softball. We chose baseball and I started with the 37 mph pitch. Hubby and son did 60 mph. Next tried 59 mph and finally son went to 70 mph and did an amazing job hitting most of the balls! So much fun! Oh and you have to wear a batting helmet. You can spray disinfectant into it to make sure you aren't sharing any germs. They keep the place very clean! Loved it and would love to go back!

It's been there for…read moreat least a couple of decades since my step daughter played soccer there when she was in high school. We visited the All Kids Park which is onsite at the Sportsplex last Sunday which was really nice, too. Back to Sportsplex. I did not enter the building itself; however from the exterior it was really modern looking and nice! I think it houses the swimming pool(s) which I am told are really nice, too! I explored the numerous batting cages trying to figure out how they worked because they aren't the typical ones where you put $ in and a machine delivers the pitch to you - they were *not* automated. Hmmmm. How the heck do they work? They were in nice shape, though. Also, their tennis courts were in excellent shape! Lighted, wind screens/covered changeover areas and nets, all in great shape, with excellent signage and no pits/ruts on the hard surfaced courts. They have 2 baseball fields; 3 baseball/softball fields, 3 soccer fields; an 18 hold disc golf course (which I did not see), I did see a plain ole wide open field where parents and children were just throwing balls and playing. Ball fields and soccer fields are available for rent by the public and for tournaments. Their website indicates they have 2 sub facilities: an Athens Greenway Trail and Athens Sportsplex Track; which I didn't see. Per the website the Athens Sportsplex Track is a 1.2 mile track that connects the Sportsplex to Lowes on Hwy. 72 in Athens, it is "mostly shaded" and appears to have a really cool looking covered bridge, too.

Turf is in bad shape. We got there on time, Coach #1 was 12 minutes late in starting, and did not make up the lost time. Coach #1 was a nice guy, but not the level of coaching I would have expected for a baseball training facility. Another coach took over for the second half of our lesson which was annoying. Coach #2 really didn't do any coaching, and simply hit some balls to my son. He ended the lesson a few minutes early. They charged me $110 for a 40 minute lesson that didn't offer any value to my son's game. I am not sure who this works for at these prices, but definitely wouldn't go back. Sorry, I really wanted to like it as it looks better online than in person.

I am anxious to get my 10U softball team signed up for the velocity training in the near future. We have adopted Strikezone as our indoor training facility as well. We like the layout and are able to get work done indoors there that we cannot at other indoor facilities.
