There tour was great, it would have been better if the factory wasn't empty, but still our tour guide really colored the bourbon making process for us. The gift shop was great too! I like a little of everything - smoky, peaty, sweet - as long as its reasonably smooth and well balanced. Given this preference, I tend to know better than to go with cask strength whiskeys, but I tried their maple wood finished cask strength to be a good sport. And to my surprise it was just perfect - like the extra concentration (57.7% vs the standard 40%) added more flavor rather than more burn. I think it was about $100 a bottle so I grabbed one and decided to check a bag so I could bring it home - it was that good.

This tour was more expensive but included a souvenir photo, gift and the tasting of the select JD line. Our tour guide Jon T was fabulous. We have been to many distillery tours on this vacation and Jon was by far the BEST! Knowledgeable, personable and loves what he does! Since our last visit in 2015 most of the JD merch has been moved to the downtown area - shuttle bus provided. Spirits are available for sale at the distillery but in comparing prices to our local liquor store they were actually more expensive. One is made and sold only on site. Tennessee Rye whiskey finished in table syrup barrels at $44.75 Unfortunately we were not able to sample it so decided against purchase. VIsitor center was well laid out. great staff and wonderful exhibits. Lots of walking and stairs but they tell you that in advance. Also visited the Squire house next door - great staff and wonderful displays as well as merchandise specifically for Squires! Highly recommend a trip to JD Distillery!

His voice was just magical. There are a lot of areas to take pictures and really enjoy the gorgeous scenery and green beauty. They have a nice little shop with some really fun stuff you can take home from Bottles, kitchen towels, bottles and fun Re-purposed glass bottles made into candles they have a lot of neat things.
