A playground with expansive play structure (in wood and plastic) for older and/or more adventurous kiddos, as well as a smaller one for the smaller ones in your party. The park also offers a small sandpit under the cover of a shelter. All of this AND a wading pool (open Sunday's and Monday's from noon until 7:00 thought the summer 2019)! It's truly a little known gem of a park and one we will be sure to return to!

The paint is slowly chipping away. In 2004 I graduated from Sunset Elementary School, a little while after I graduated it was announced the school would close due to budget cuts. The City of Shoreline tore the school down and made Sunset School Park in its place to preserve the land in the case that a new school needs to be built here in the future. Even if a new school is built here it will not be identical to the one that preceded it. Each building and each structure has an identity of its own. I have come here a few times since the school was torn down to walk around and reminisce about where things used to be located and where different activities took place (such as the Walk-a-thon and soccer practice on the field above the area with the playground). The playground has been upgraded since I attended the school, though it was also upgraded when I attended the school. There are two large field areas (one on the upper level and one on the lower level), a sheltered play area, and a large community garden in addition to the playground and a tiny patch of wooded play area. While attending elementary school I was playing tag with some classmates and said "bite me" to one of the boys who decided to take the idiom literally instead of figuratively as I meant it and bit me without my consent... ahhh the physical assaults of elementary school. Still love the trees though, trees this big and old are an extreme rarity at urban schools these days. Means a lot to me that they have chosen to keep them around. The park can get a bit busy, something to keep in mind if you are looking for a quiet secluded place to walk, play, or relax. Beautiful park and location.

I rented the picnic shelter for the day for a birthday party and it was only $40. That is much cheaper than other parks in the area. The picnic tables are a little worn but it's a nice size area. And the picnic shelter is right next to the bathroom and play area. It's in a really convenient spot. I was a little worried about traffic sounds. You can hear if a car is noisy but you don't really hear just the normal traffic. It is a nice, pleasant area.

Hamlin Park is a lovely place to go on a walk and enjoy the tall trees and wildlife. Trails run…read morethroughout the park and one of the paths (the main one I suppose) has white trail markers indicating in what direction to proceed to stay on the trail at forks in the trail. We didn't realize these were trail markers until towards the end of our walk today... we ended up going in the reverse direction around the trails. Runners, dog walkers, children in camp, and walkers abounded this morning. Along one of the trails there are restoration in progress areas where one can get involved in environmental stewardship if so inclined. Posted signs provide contact information on where to seek more information about this. The birds loved this portion of the trail and we heard a variety of different bird songs as we traversed this area. Wildflowers and plants in the park were beautiful and captivated my attention while exploring. On a more industrial note, there are big guns (I call them cannons) from the 1800s located by the playground. An essential stop if you want a fun photo-op and to learn a little bit of war history on your visit. My mom and I both enjoyed our visit today, Tuesday the 21st of July 2020, and found Hamlin Park a place we both are interested in revisiting. The parking lots didn't have many cars when we arrived around 9 a.m. but by the time we left, a little after 10 a.m., the parking lot we had parked in was about half full. The morning sun and cool air was very refreshing for a forecasted hot day.

I like to get pictures of the places I visit and unfortunately, there are NOT any charging stations or outlets here. Parking lot is really small. Great place to hang with the kiddos or host a party. Kids will be good and tired at the end of the day.

The park has two baseball diamonds... a huge grassy area to play in...a big area with slides, and monkey bars...The park also has a smaller skate area, which is popular with the boarders in the area... Froula, the first principal of Roosevelt High School from 1922 until his death in 1938. That makes sense because the high school is just a couple blocks south of this playground. It runs the length of the block and is a quiet and peaceful part of the neighborhood. There's a lot of street parking which gives easy access but other than that there's not much else here. There is a lot of a grassy area but for now that part is pretty much undeveloped.

Hopefully over time the neighboring reservoir will end up lidded like Cal Anderson because there should be a huge park/playground given the cluster of neighborhoods around here (Roosevelt, Ravenna, Wallingford).

They would walk us places for adventures during the week and Yost Park and Pool were one of the places we got to adventure. I enjoyed it then and still enjoy it now over two decades later. The pool itself is well built to be child friendly. It is in a stout 'L' shape with 25 yards in shallow to mid-depth waters. Very nice when one is young. The water as I remember it is cold, not a bad thing just a shock to the system to those who were not accustomed to it. Above the pool there are tennis courts, picnic tables, and a playground. There is also a sloped grassy area around the pool, but not one to play sports on really. I most recently visited Yost Park on Wednesday the 8th of July 2020 with my mom. Steep trails can freak her out a bit. One of the nice things about the trail system at Yost is that railings are provided in areas where the trail is steeper. Helpful in keeping one's balance and providing support while going up or down a hill. Signage along the trails provide warnings to heed especially when it is rainy and the trails can be slick as well as historical information about the park. We saw a chipmunk, a variety of birds, squirrels, and different plants on our visit last Wednesday. If driving here, make sure to check under your car before you leave so as to not run over and kill any critters who might be under it. I found a gray squirrel exploring under my car when my mom and I went to leave. Happy to wait for the little critter to continue on its way before driving off so it can live. Fun place to bond with the wildlife!

I love this park but probably not for the same reasons others do. While it has a nice, large public…read morepool and awesome trails snaking through the forest, I go to do wildlife photography. The park itself is great for exercise as several of the trails have good incline so you can get a bit of a workout. I stopped short of giving 5 stars because I have encountered screaming groups of children several times who trample the vegetation off-trail and in the dry creek bed and it is very annoying that the adults supervising them allow this.
