Serene little park that offers a shady respite for people & their littles, including fur babies. I've not mastered the ins & outs of the trails bc I'm admittedly directionally challenged, but there's basically a corridor path that runs down the middle, and meandering paths on either side. It's peaceful & shaded- usually quiet. We appreciate having such a great park minutes from home. read more

Hamlin Park is a lovely place to go on a walk and enjoy the tall trees and wildlife. Trails run throughout the park and one of the paths (the main one I suppose) has white trail markers indicating in what direction to proceed to stay on the trail at forks in the trail. We didn't realize these were trail markers until towards the end of our walk today... we ended up going in the reverse direction around the trails. Runners, dog walkers, children in camp, and walkers abounded this morning. Along one of the trails there are restoration in progress areas where one can get involved in environmental stewardship if so inclined. Posted signs provide contact information on where to seek more information about this. The birds loved this portion of the trail and we heard a variety of different bird songs as we traversed this area. Wildflowers and plants in the park were beautiful and captivated my attention while exploring. On a more industrial note, there are big guns (I call them cannons) from the 1800s located by the playground. An essential stop if you want a fun photo-op and to learn a little bit of war history on your visit. My mom and I both enjoyed our visit today, Tuesday the 21st of July 2020, and found Hamlin Park a place we both are interested in revisiting. The parking lots didn't have many cars when we arrived around 9 a.m. but by the time we left, a little after 10 a.m., the parking lot we had parked in was about half full. This wonderful park has something for everyone. Large children's play areas, plenty of trails through the forest for walkers, runners, hikers & bikers. Even though our visit was in wet & rainy January, our hike in the park was still lovely. read more

i absolutely love this park as a north end destination, pit stop or exploration site. my dog, who usually walks on city sidewalks, loves coming here to be on the forested trails. there's a playground, bathrooms and sports facilities and it's fairly easy access off i5 if you need a place to stretch your legs while on a road trip. every time i've been here it's clean and not terribly overcrowded although i would expect that to change once covid quarantine becomes a thing of the past (fingers crossed) and the seasons change to warmer weather. this park isn't anywhere near where i live but anytime i'm up in north seattle, especially with my dog in tow, we make it a point to stop here, even for a few minutes. if you go up into the wooded, trail section, it's a great respite from the noise of the streets. read more

I really like Hamlin Park. This evening I went for a nice walk along the wooded trails. The trails are well maintained, clean and have a peaceful feel to them. It's a great to take your dog for a walk as I see plenty of people walking theirs. The park also has nice big open grassy fields to play soccer, football, frisbee or to let your kids run around. There are baseball and softball fields, picnic areas, public restrooms and a playground for all the little ones. I have been here a few other times to throw the football around until my arm was dead. That pain lasted a while. Haha. This park has a lot to offer and everyone can enjoy it. read more

We always thought it was just two baseball fields, but boy were we wrong. Talk about a hidden gem. We've lived very close to Hamlin park for almost five years and just recently discovered it's awesomeness. It is a very large park. All woods. Lots of trails to hike around on. You will not be treated with an amazing view or steep inclines. But it's also right in your backyard instead of an hour plus drive away. Dogs are welcome. But there are a few sticklers who will get right up in your face and threaten to call the cops if you walk around with your perfectly behaved dog off-leash. Laws are laws I get it, but let's cool our jets a little bit lady... I would recommend wearing shoes that are comfortable and okay to get dirty. You can keep it relatively flat as far as walking surface goes, but the whole park is dirt. read more

I am really enjoying this park with my six-year-old. Not the biggest outdoor play equipment, but the actual woods and hiking trails make up for that themselves. Very nice and quiet. read more

Cute, small park that's good for a BBQ, hitting a baseball or taking your dog for a walk. There are several short paths through the woods you can take. Probably 15 minute walk. It's a nice, easy walk. Good place to bring a dog or young child just for a little easy exercise. My husband and I were just looking for a low key walk in the nice weather. We spent about 30 minutes here trying to take different paths to extend our walk a bit. The bathrooms were amazingly clean! They were actually cleaner than some restaurant bathrooms that I've been too. read more

Today we wanted to spend some time in nature and ended up going to Shoreline and wandering around the trails of Hamlin Park. Main thing I noticed was about how neglected this place looks and how much nicer it would be if some work was put into it. Both with garbage pick-up (mostly in areas along the street) and environmental work (such as clean-up and installation of whatever native plants would love it there). Over-all, though, I like trees and parks so.... I'm a fan. read more

Located in Shoreline, I went to this park a lot growing up. There is a ton of heavily wooded wide trails which are great for running if you are into cross country running. I, however, have never run on these trails in my life and spent the majority of my time at this park in the softball fields. The best feature of this park is the fact that it is rarely crowded. There is plenty of parking and space for everyone. If I had a dog I would definitely take them for a walk on the trails or this would be a prime location for a game of capture the flag. read more

Lovely urban oasis just a few miles from our house. The great thing about this park is one you start walking in the trails it's easy to forget you are just a few miles from the city. The tall trees and natural beauty acts as some serious nature therapy! We were both impressed with the trail's conditions and abundance of walking at this park. If we could improve something, I'd like to see a better trail map or at least more of them. My wife and I had some troubles finding this, but we'll definitely be back! read more

A wonderful spot on the eastern half of the little hamlet of Shoreline, which is just north of the Seattle city limits. Hamlin Park is a treasure for those who like plenty of parking, clean picnic areas, and a great ball field to bang the bat and ball around. While I must say our last visit was a couple of summers ago, and the park was inhabited by scary looking "fantasy" D&D characters. The group about 20 of them kept to themselves, leather get ups, wooden swords, and helmets, all the while we watched in horror as they continued to beat each other up with "padded" weapons. I never knew medieval battles had "time out" for broken leather straps that kept the codpiece in place... I assume this is not the "regular" crowd that gathers here, so I'll just say, be forewarned.... read more

Lovely park and great trails. Scenery is about as good as it gets. This would be a wonderful place to visit more often, but you need to watch your step. I observed about 5 used syringes on my walk, and what appeared to be human feces along the trail. Enjoy this park, but be vigilant. read more

This is an awesome park. I don't live in the area, but I just spent the last 7 days walking two awesome dogs for friends of mine while they were on vacation. Every day I brought the dogs and they always had a great time. The park was filled with other awesome dog owners, I never once stepped in dog poop, tons of space, well-maintained wooded areas and trails. Great scenery and a great community space with tons of sports fields. The ONLY thing keeping this park from at 5 star rating is a fenced area for dogs to run around off-leash. That would have made it perfect. read more

This is my daughter's favorite park. It has a nice play area for toddlers as well as a separate area for older kids. The trails are nice too. Best part is, it has plenty of parking spots. I just love coming here. This park has lot to offer. read more

I'm beginning to come here less often because of irresponsible dog owners. people keeping their dogs off leash. There are clearly signs that say your dog must be on leash which is why I started coming here. There have been more than several occasions I have been walking my dog and we have had a strange unleashed dog come running up to us with no owner in sight until a minute later running trying to find their dog while shouting "he's friendly! He's friendly" well guess what? My dog might not be. Then we really have a problem.... This is not an area for an unleashed dog or to play fetch!! Eastside off leash area is less than a five minute drive around the corner....come one people!! Also the last couple times I've visited there has been a homeless man walking around super scary and now he has set up a tent towards the back of the park!!! My dog has scared him off both times thankfully. I called the number posted for Parks/police and still am weary of coming back to this park. Such a bummer. read more

Great paved walking trail perfect for strollers, and natural forest for playing or walking. Centrally located bathrooms. Huge cedar trees. A nice park compartmented into focal regions for different activities that make it easier to keep tabs on your tribe. My dog and I agree that this is our MOST favorite place to come walkies! We have hiked, walked and explored every square inch of this park. It's hilly over here, and flat over there; has structured trails, or you can just disappear into the trees- it's whatever you want/need. I hardly ever bump into other people, have always felt safe and always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The dog always leaves smiling and exhausted. It's clean, beautiful and serene. There's a huge playing field, a playground, a picnic area or two, or you can just go lose yourself among the trees. But don't worry - you're never really lost - follow any trail downhill and you're back to the parking lot : ) read more

I love that this park has two playgrounds a good distance apart, separating the big rambunctious kids from the littler ones. The giant stone spheres and huge cannons are a big hit with my 2-year-old. Plus he has hugged every tree in a 300-foot-radius of the tots playground. I haven't explored the woods trails and am very excited to, yet worried about how long it will take if this tree-hugging continues. read more

Great forested area perfect when it gets really hot. Love taking my 2 year old there to wear him out and to say hi to all the doggies. So nice to have a bit of wilderness so close. Spotted owls and wood peckers there which is always neat to see in real life. read more

Hamlin Park is a nicely forested park with recent trail renovations. It is a nice place to walk in shady woods in the NE Seattle/Shoreline area. The park is plenty big enough to offer some good opportunities to explore and to wander around. The other reviews that mention the off-leash dogs are worth noting if you aren't a fan. read more

In Washington State it isn't uncommon to find pieces of nature plopped in the middle of urban life. What makes Hamlin Park special is it's ability to bring a specific piece of nature to you in spades, the forest. At Hamlin Park you can enjoy the trees without worrying about what scrapes at your knees. Most of the brush at this park is cleared away allowing for pleasant off path strolls beneath towering evergreen giants. Good short downhill mountain biking... wear a helmet There is a group of D&D players there that I've seen... 20 or so... They're annoying because they won't get out the way of my bike riding I blaze down trails and almost ran into one of the "players" But don't be bummed my fine bicycling friends if these people are right at the bottom of your favorite run because the forest is always changing... Either downed trees or some nice dirty mud... Go out there and have some fun! read more
