Mr. Meza and Ms. Collins are a great team and really care about their students. Victory Martial Arts has been great for my family. Signed my son up for Victory Martial Arts with promises of behavior changes for the better. My son did not learn discipline. He learned to be afraid of authority. All they care about is money. Apparently belt promotions are earned by anyone who pays the money to do so. The equipment must be bought through them at a very expensive rate, every belt promotion costs you, even the prices on "parents night out" keep getting raised. Contract has ended, and we will never again join such an establishment. read more

I am not a Victory employee and I don't have any other association with the company other than the fact that I am an independent single mom with a 5 year old son attending Victory. I had to transfer from a different location due to time constraints and school/work schedule. I want to express my perspective to anyone considering Victory and especially Victory Stone Ridge with Miss Collins. My review has 3 parts that I will talk about separately. 1. Victory the company. 2. Victory Stone Ridge and 3. Miss Collins. Victory the company is set up to maximize profits I'm sure like any successful company.I really don't see the harm in that as long as it is a win win situation. My son started at Victory when he was 4. I was beginning to have some trouble directing him. He has gained so much confidence and his self-esteem is so much higher after 18 months that I can't even express it in words. He is more focused and disciplined. He might complain about going on occasion until he gets there and then he is great. Victory does do belt promotions every 2 months. They cost $50 or less if paid in advance. That's $25/mo. Practically nothing and if you experienced what those belt promos do for children you would understand why it is important. It isn't only for the company. The children need those milestones to stay motivated. The equipment and gear cost a little bit upfront........if you buy it all at once. That being said all of it including the belt promotions are optional. It is better to have them and do the promotions but not required. The tuition price is completely reasonable. Compared to other companies that are related to an association, Victory is actually a little less if you pay monthly and if you pay it off all at once they offer a huge discount. I did shop around so I am reporting from experience. The benefit to Victory is stuff like the actual "blue power ranger" visiting the school and the leadership program, which is about $75 more than the regular program but includes free kickboxing classes (unlimited) and the child or children can attend an unlimited amount of classes as well. These things encourage a child's interest and encourage a child to lead. My son has improved by leaps and bounds but it didn't happen over night. It is a 3 year black belt program. I think that is the reason for some negative comments on other reviews. My son is interested and then not interested and then interested again. In the end....if you look at the results of being in Victory long term and being taught by phenomenal instructors you'll understand what you can expect in return for your commitment. Go to youtube.com and search for victory martial arts at any competition (which by the way are not offered by most other programs) and you can see for yourself what I am referring to. The location at Stone Ridge now has a new instructor and she is a powerful instructor. The studio is in a very convenient location. HEB superstore is next door so you can get some shopping done while waiting if you need to. About Miss Collins which is the primary reason for me to take the time to write this review. She is only in her early 20's but has the maturity and discipline of someone twice her age. She IS the kind of person I want my son to be like. She is truly honorable. A fantastic role model for any male or female child. I was a little concerned when I 1st switched locations about the fact that she is female and my son really needed (or so I thought) a positive male role model. Miss Collins is so advanced for her years and truly a rare person. She is a strong leader. She teaches with discipline and strength but also brings a very social family feeling to the studio that makes you feel like you belong. She speaks to EVERYONE on a regular basis to find out what their needs and concerns are and I believe she is also practicing the principle to "treat everyone like they are wearing a sign around their neck that says "make me feel special"" It is really hard to believe that she is as young as she is. I respect her tremendously. In conclusion.....I think that Victory the company could definitely improve in some areas (what company couldn't) they are still the best around here and the price is comparable to many other REPUTABLE programs in San Antonio. Miss Collins is amazing though. You will love being a part of her studio. Everyone who attends this location loves her. My son and I are also big fans. read more

Victory Martial Arts, Stone Ridge location is exceptional. The students are learning valuable confidence-building and leadership skills. Ms. Collins and her staff are exceptional. My son started there 5 years ago due to being bullied. Now he is a bright star, a confident leader and is passionate about Martial Arts. This studio has a family atmosphere the instructors care about the students and will go the extra step to help your child. I also need to mention that many adults attend their classes, thus kids and adults interact showing a great sense of respect and camaraderie. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!! All they care about is the money, they get you to sign a year contract saying they have no other ways to bill you. If you ever cancel or want to stop they dont' help you they continue to bill you and only do autodraft- then send you to collections. Horrible!!!! They only care about the MONEY, everything cost, they make the kids feel bad who dont have the money for the gear, which is extra, the belt testing is extra. What i thought was going to be a great experience was just horrible. Here I am a single parent trying to teach my boys about how to stay safe an learn defense skills and disclipine in school, and when trying to leave getting no help from admin, only a collections CSR- in FLORIDA who doesnt care to help. My kids were gone for the summer with their dad. So the company wanted me to pay while they werent attending $ 99/month. Worst mistake I ever made- learn from me, and save your money and hassle and do something else for your kids. read more

This is the worst experience ever, i won't rate even one star if I can! I signed my son to the karate class to free 3 trial classes and paid first month fee without thinking my son wouldn't enjoy it after join my friend's son karate bday party. Because the lady named Ms Colin eased us with saying , if the trials failed , they will refund us with first month fee. I didn't doubt about it. And signed my 5 five years old in the class without going through trial classes. The fact was My 5 years old always cries badly during the trial class twice, and my second 3 years old wouldn't care to try. So it was not right timing for them to do it , I gave up. Then I called school many times , nobody answered phone, finally got talked to Ms Colin , she said it was right to charge the first month fee , I explained we didn't even go to any classes , failed at the FREE trial class. Why u still think it is right to charge me ? She said I will call you tomorrow , then never hear back. Then tonight I checked my bank account, the karate school still continues charging my account automatically for second month, I called the school right away, the girl answered the phone with calling me back tomorrow again. I can't believe any school will disrespect people and not responsible and responsive like this, waste me a lot of time . I m sure they will automatically charge my account all the time if they don't fix it. Worst experience ever, I will never recommend any my friend to go this place, all you get is this. We initially signed up my son and daughter, but decided that my wife and I would also sign up. This by far was one the best decision my wife and I have done for our family. In today's world doing an physical activity where the whole family can participate together is rare if not impossible to find. We are determined for all of us to earn our black belt so we are on a journey together. Not only do we train together at Victory but we also practice together, which brings us closer as a family. In addition to the family time, the discipline and focus that we have seen in our children is incredible. We have seen changes at home, in school, and other sports. Their confidence has grown immensely and they have routinely been singled out for leadership. I look forward to watching them grow. Now for the Chief Instructor... Ms. Collins. I can not say enough great things about her. She is such a great role model for my children. She instills confidence and belief in each child. She sets achievable expectations for children while training and expects students to apply the life lesson at home/school as well. I have seen behavior challenged children enter school and after a month or so their behavior has seen a remarkable improvement. I can go on, but you get the point. All in all, if you are looking for a quality martial art program with a family atmosphere and fantastic instructor look no further. We just started our 6 year old at Victory Martial Arts. He absolutely loves it. He really does try to incorporate the "respect" he is learning at class, at home and at school. We also are seeing an improvement in his self esteem because of the positive reinforcement and encouragement from his instructors and fellow students. Compared to other gyms that have the same sort of classes, this one is very price competitive and very family friendly. The equipment is a bit spendy, but its an investment and doesnt need purchased all at once! Its durable and will last for years. I think this place will benefit any child/family. Victory Martial Arts is the worst company I have ever dealt with. It is a complete scam. All they care about is getting your money each month. They promote kids to belts that clearly don't deserve to be promoted, only to get the $ for the belt test! We quit 2 years ago and paid $1800 to get out of our contract, only to get a bill today for $100 for the month of Feb. Turns out, our contract automatically renewed. Now I can't cancel my contract until I pay the $100. If anyone recommends Victory, run the other way!! read more

Victory Martial Arts is a scam! $250.00 a month plus an additional $1500.00 in equipment that was NEVER used. When my daughter hurt her back and stopped going in July of 2013 they still continued to charge every month and even when I provided a doctors note stating she could no longer participate they requested that I pay $150.00 to cancel the "contract". I didn't pay that $150.00 by their cut off time so they once again this month charged $250.00. I will be contacting an attorney to try to get money back. A complete and total rip off. I would never recommend this company to anyone!!!!!!! read more

I signed up for more information on their website, specifically asking for a schedule of classes. I immediately received 4 identical form emails asking me to sign up for a $20 trial. When I sent another request for a schedule, I received two more form emails from a different email address saying "I tried calling you, but couldn't reach you" (I received no calls), and again asked me to sign up for the trial and not addressing any of my initial requests. When they eventually did call, it was a Florida phone number and a national office. I had to repeat several times that all I wanted was a class schedule, and all she kept trying to do was sign me up for my initial class. Finally, she admitted she did not have access to local classes or rates. I got the phone number of this location and hung up, intending to call later. One hour later I got another exact copy of the form email saying "I tried calling you, but couldn't reach you" from a new person and requesting that I call her back to set up my first class. No thank you. So while I can't speak to the quality of the instruction, I will say that it's been a little over 12 hours since I sent my initial request and already I feel like I gave my email address to some gym trying to get me into a contract and wont tell me anything until I come in. The fact that they have already asked for my money on several occasions and have yet to address my initial request makes me certain that this is not a company I am interested in working with. The very idea of giving them my credit card information makes me nervous. read more

All parents be careful and read the fine prints of the contract. I learned a lot from my experience with victory, first of all never sign a contract for a year. That was the biggest mistake because you can only cancel in 3 conditions: if you have a doctor's note, in case of death, or relocating. Another thing you should pay attention to because when you sign up they never tell you about the ridiculously expensive equipment you will have to buy so your kids will be able to attend certain classes. Another thing that I did not like, they say it is a beginner class but they have all ages starting from 3 to 30 or more. That is not right because a 3 years old ability of doing things obviously is not the same as a 30 years old or 5 or 6. I wasn't comfortable for my son (3 years old) playing sparring with a 5 years old for example. Hope this will be helpful for everyone. read more

it is surprising to me the negative reviews that all mention a CONTRACT! Don't sign it if you cannot commit to it! They offer a free 30 day trial without a contract. Do that first and see if it is for you! We have been doing it for a while and my son loves it. If you do not discipline your own children, they cannot fix that for you. They work with parents as partners to improve on certain areas, but are not the parents of your children! They have two programs. If you can't afford the more expensive one, don't do it. It is for leadership and you need a child that is dedicated and will work hard. If you just want it for fun, leadership isn't for you. We did Hill Country Karate first. They are CHEAP, but not only do they charge for belt tests, you also have to do a tournament to belt up (fee) and you have to pay a fee to be a spectator. There is a cost to everything. Do your homework before you commit, but we love it and feel we get our monies worth! I bought the equipment used from a parent whose kids didn't need it anymore after they outgrew it. Once again, a little homework and you can get what you want/need. read more
