I hate that I seem to only come here when I have a problem. There's much stronger words I would like to use but then this would be taken down, so.... I was referred to this office by a current patient of theirs. We work at the same place so I know they take my insurance. They directed me to their website to fill in "new patient" forms. Which I did and over two weeks later they call to say they've "declined" me as a new patient. No explanation as to why when I asked. I called a few times checking up on this and they kept saying to give it another day or so and I was completely understanding of this. But to finally call me back after more than two weeks with "I don't know why the doctor has decided this" as an explanation is infuriating. I was really interested in this office because they didn't seem like the status quo. The idea of having a mental health department was absolutely a plus. I've been trying to find a therapist I really felt comfortable with for a few years. This would have been ideal so the care providers could bounce off each other as to how I should proceed in regards to meds. So needless to say I'm beyond annoyed and now I have to start from scratch yet again. read more

I have never received any poor care at this place, the doctors and nurses are all very understanding and take my needs seriously. My only reason for not giving this place 5 stars is because of their treatment of trans patients. If you're going to have LGBT friendly stickers outside of your building, I think you should make an effort to deadname and misgender patients as little as possible. It makes the overall experience, even if it was good in nature, exhausting. Don't claim you're a safe space if you aren't going to put in the effort to BE a safe space. read more

I was giving this family medicine clinic a try because I like their mission statement and I very much have appreciated my children's provider and medical staff but their scheduling is very limited and their clerical support staff is less than stellar, unpleasant even. I am going to have to find a new provider because I constantly have to rearrange my schedule to adhere to their availability because they only schedule certain things, like shots, on certain days of the week. Getting in for an emergency appointment has proven impossible and the receptionist could care less. I'm actually really pissed that I have to give up a great NP like Linda because I can't get in to see her when necessary. read more

First this is not a review on the Family medicine portion of VIDA. Or the counsellors in the mental health section of VIDA. I love Dr. Walker and my experience with the counselor has been great. However being referred over to the new NP Sharon Karn for my mental health needs has been frustrating. I am now two appointments in with no change in meds that need to be managed. Last appointment she said she needed to research the possible new med and she would call me back in a few days with information, I never received said phone call. I have left both appointments very insulted by her comments. Also I have left with extreme increase in my anxiety about her reporting side effects of my medication to me, but then she doesn't change anything! In short I have left Sharon with less money extreme increase in anxiety and out a mental health provider.. Not how I expect mental health to be handled. Update 12/7/15 I attempted to go back to Dr Walker for my mental health needs. She advised me to go back to Sharon Karn saying Sharon is willing to see me again. She also had no explanation for Sharon's lack of follow up call with me. She took me off my current add med and wouldn't change to another one. She also let me know add is the diagnosis of the day.. I get the feeling that VIDA is no longer willing to treat or acknowledge ADD. Even if you have never been an addict or shown addictive behavior they will treat you as a drug seeking patient.. ***Find another altmed clinic. **** Pros: The Vida providers I saw were professional, intelligent, wonderful doctors. They're punctual and care about their pts. Cons: The office staff and billing is OUTRAGEOUS. Through the multiple visits I've had there, blunder after blunder has cost me hundreds of dollars and the staff are rude. They are by far and away the worst medical office I've ever dealt with as far as billing and customer service go. Conclusion: I'm very sad to be looking for another provider because I do trust and respect the Vida docs. But coming and going from the clinic is intolerable because of the problems I've experienced. First let me say I love Karen Jones and Linda Bird. They are NOT who I am reviewing. They are fantastic in every way. I am reviewing Vida Family Medicine as a business and with my multiple experiences with the staff (reception, billing, scheduling, administration.) This place is just about as terrible as it gets for patient service. I have been here 3-4 times now and I'm still not impressed with the process of getting an appointment. First off, to even be seen you have to go online and fill out a whole lot of information that apparently is useless, because they don't seem to use any of it (because you fill out some of the same stuff two or three more times). It says they will call you in 3 business days, but the three times I have filled this form out for different providers for me or my daughter I have had to call them after a week, and they always act clueless and they try to send me back to the web site to do it all over again. This most recent time I had to call three times just to get a call back to get on the schedule, and it took 3 weeks to finally talk to a scheduler! The receptionist staff answering the phones and checking you in are always lacking in cheerful attitudes. The billing staff took forever it seemed like to verify my insurance (which I verified myself in less than 2 minutes over the phone.) Then once you do get an appointment I was told I would have to see a totally different provider first just to get labs done before I could see the provider I wanted to see. Without explanation from the staff for this appointment, this seems like just another way to drum up business and rake in some extra cash. no one actually explained why I had to see this additional provider, I , once again, had to call to ask why I was scheduled with this provider I had never heard of. It wasn't until the actual appointment that it was clear to me why they needed to have me come see someone else and I ended up LOVING my experience with Linda Bird, but the scheduling staff should have just been more helpful in explaining the process and reasons behind the process. When i did request to speak to a manager or administrator about the service I have gotten over the last few times I have been here I was told I would get a call from the administrator but two weeks later I am still waiting. I just can't recommend coming here if you aren't already established. If your doctor has other people at other clinics they trust and can refer you to then please go elsewhere. Karen Jones is totally worth the headache, but I'm sure there are other great naturopathic providers. And I feel like Linda Bird read my soul in 30 minutes or less, which was so refreshing to be understood, but again this is a review for the business of Vida Family Medicine, not individual providers. read more

I felt I was treated with a poor attitude by the staff because of my age, I was much younger than the other women in the waiting room. Instead of being treated with the same respect I should have gotten being I paid for this visit, I felt a constant judgmental tone from Vida MD's with no sympathy or empathy towards another. I did not appreciate the service given on the length of time at my visit. If I could, I would rate this practice as no stars. read more

They are the worst! They scheduled me incorrectly and I was let go as a patient because I missed appointments that were missing on their books but I had on my calendar. When I confronted them on this the front desk didn't take any ownership for their screw up and I ended up having to find a different provider and pay for the missing appointments. read more

Welcome to Vida Family Medicine and Behavioral Health. Don't worry, we KNOW how you feel and what you are REALLY thinking. This was my experience with their administrative staff. Their therapists are the nicest people in the world, as are the primary staff for that facility, BUT if you ever have an issue, you lost. No argument, no recourse, they will not look into context, they will not speak to therapists or investigate. One wrong word (literally one), and you lose. Their staff are always right, pristine and correct, and their head admin has 'been doing this for 24 years; I understand' how you think (and she really believes that, too). After one of their scheduling staff dropped the ball more than once, I already had the e-mail typed to fire them and seek another therapist. Apparently, they had the same idea... ... Again, wonderful therapists, and their normal front-office people are wonderful. You ever need to escalate, you lose. You ever get someone from another department, WATCH WHATEVER YOU SAY! You CANNOT speak freely, and if you are lodging a complaint about their continued failed performance, don't. It won't go anywhere. At most, you'll get a half hour call with someone who 'knows better'. read more

Wow, this doctor actually profiles you and will decline providing medical care depending on your medical history. Unbelievable. Coming from someone who is dependent on medical care, this process was disgusting and offensive. I had done a couple days research on VIDA Integrative Medicine which claims to be "Western Medicine with an Open Mind". I then filled out an application and Dr. Evelin Dacker declined providing me medical care (even though she is accepting new patients), because of my medical history (I suffer from chronic pain). You would think that her philosophy is a perfect fit for someone in chronic pain, right? Wrong. Must be nice to choose your patients and have a 100% success rate with their health. It's just amazing how people can avoid failure, struggle, or challenges at that. Her "holistic" tedtalk view only comes from profiling her patients. Her process seems more fabricated than organic in my eyes. read more

I have now seen Dr. Bird three times and I am VERY pleased to say that she is the first doctor I have EVER had that actually listens to what I have to say. Unfortunately, in the past all I have had is doctors that treat me like I am on an assembly line and at the end of the assembly line they would just throw pills at me and move on to the next person. Dr. Bird and I are now going back with all my previous history and starting at square one because she is actually taking my opinions, symptoms and prescriptions into consideration and together we are taking appropriate steps to ensure I am healthy. This is the first time I have actually trusted a doctor. I definitely would recommend this clinic to anyone who's insurance is accepted. I am actually hoping to switch my kids so they can be seen my a real doctor too. Thank you Dr. Bird!!! read more

I cannot review the doctors, as I did not make it past the most unprofessional and inflexible receptionist I've ever encountered. After waiting over a month for a new patient appointment for my toddler, I moved out of salem area, but kept my appointment because I was hoping they would be a good match (natural-leaning medicine) and worth the drive. I drove over an hour after waking my baby up in the still dark morning, had two typical toddler hiccups and clothe changes along the way, and when I arrived 12 minutes late, was told i would not be able to see the dr. My son had just finished antibiotics for a double ear infection, but still had symptoms which needed to be checked. She very coldly stated that new patient appointments are extra long. I owned my tardiness and asked why I couldn't just have a shorter appointment. I was met with the most calloused and flippant response about how if I needed the appointment I should have been on time (as if I was out having coffee or something) and about respect for other patients... which was particularly maddening since there were no other patients! The way she spoke to me made me think for a moment maybe I was on candid camera, and it was a test to see how I would react... especially considering that the dr we were supposed to see had just been sitting with the receptionist, was not with a patient, nor were there any people waiting. NOT A SINGLE other person entered that clinic for an appointment. One man came to pick something up from a nurse. I stood there and wrote a complaint to the dr, tried to find a place to clean up my son (there was not a changing table in the bathroom she sent me to even though I asked specifically for one) and eventually changed and fed him breakfast in my car. So over 40 minutes from when I walked in, I pulled out of the parking lot, and not a single patient came in. As I drove over an hour home, with a still sick baby, I laughed (angrily) about how in that time, the Dr. could have seen my son and any other patient who cares to put up with a receptionist who shouldn't have made it through high school, let alone a professional door with that attitude. There is a difference between following policies and being on a power trip. I'm quite certain which one this was. There were a million ways she could have been flexible without putting anyone in the office out. I would have happily waited because it was my responsibility to be on time. I would have taken a shorter appointment. I would have found something to do and come back in between other patients. But there weren't any other patients. And now I know why read more
