The rule is, if I take the kids here, we have to make the 20min walk instead of being driven. Unfortunately for them, these pokemon events, are always in Winter. This Gamestop is hit or miss. There's one employee here( I'll make sure to catch his name next time) that is one of the best I've experienced. Friendly, knowledgeable, good with kids, he's worth the long, cold, sad march. Sadly, if he's not there, the quality drops. Once, a guy couldn't even answer simple questions about a Wii I was going to purchase. I'm also a little disappointed about a glitch that happened after signing up for the rewards card, that didn't allow me to collect points. I mean, a software store that can't deal with a glitch? Child please! But I digress. The positives certainly outweigh the negatives. Shit, they gave my kids a free virtual pokemon, I can't stay mad at them. So the kids got their Pokemon, we coveted some games and accessories and we made our way out, and into the cold, for the not-as-long as they make it out to be walk home. As they tried to make a deal where if it's any colder next time, we have to drive, I smiled, ready to launch into a "when I was a kid" speech, that would freeze their lazy lips shut.

They were so enthusiastic about the Gameboy games my fiancé had. It was nice to see them get excited about games that were popular in the 90's and 2000's. We overheard them saying that they typically match whatever GameStop is currently offering in store credit. To our surprise, they gave my fiancé more than GameStop would have if we would've gone there. This is why it matters to support small businesses. Gone are the cheap items made with dodgy materials from no name manufacturers. They've been replaced with mid and high tier selections for every experience level. The live girl shows are still here. There is a theater upstairs where the video booths used to be. Entry costs money unless you come as a couple. And to help accommodate more weekend fun, the store and theater are now open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.

I wasn't mad at the time (cuz I didn't know what actually happened till I thought I was maybe given a used game) but it makes me mad that people in game stores do this kind of often. Do they like being rude? That's why now I go to either Target or to other retailers because at least THEY know what they're doing. And they don't push people into buying more stuff at the desk or play their copies of the games either, which I am thankful.

My 8 year old son got a gift card to GameStop for his birthday 6 months ago. He chose to use it to buy a GameStop pass, so he could get a free pack of Pokémon cards every month (which the guy working sold him on). We've then proceeded to come on here every month to them never having Pokémon card packs, so he feels like he wasted his gift card. They won't even let him get the $.50 singles in its place since they can't fulfill what he wants. Additionally, there's always ever only 1 person working, and no matter who is working they are completely inept. They are no help in finding things, and when more than even one customer is in the store they disintegrate like wet toilet paper. Lastly, they never keep consistent hours. I can rarely get here during the week because they close at 5, and now they're not even open on the weekends when they say they will be. They went as far as to post a calendar on their door for their holiday hours, and yet here I am at 10:39 on a Saturday, when they say they'll be open at 10, and no one is even answering their phone let alone removing the gates form the door and opening the store. Horribly run business, rude staff, inconsistent hours. I guess I'll just start buying my gaming stuff at Target or Walmart, because this place stinks.
