He kept yelling at us over and over to follow him as he was dead stopped in the water and he was flush with the group. We went back and forth between being told to speed up or slow down and spent a lot of time just floating rather than kayaking. We were unable to see him at all and all of the yelling was very stressful, I wish we could have just had a dim light to follow like other tours offer. We were supposed to kayak for an hour according to the description but were out of the water by 8:30 and didn't even enter the water until after 7:50. And before you ask, no one was late so we didn't start late. We spent more time rafted together talking about the stars and the constellations than we did enjoying the dinoflagellates. For reference, I have been coming to mosquito bay every few years for nearly 25 years. I have never felt more rushed like cattle and unable to appreciate the beauty of the bay. Additionally we overheard the guides talking about various members of the group behind their backs afterwards. I speak Spanish and heard it all-- never appropriate to do this in front of customers no matter the situation. One other guest within earshot heard them saying the things above and commented to me about it as she could also understand them. Also overheard one joking with another about how they're essentially here for the money grab. Unfortunately I think that his phrase is the best way to sum up the vibes of our tour. Adding a star because the bay is amazing. Even though it's not as bright after Maria it's still such an amazing piece of nature.

Where you actual pick up the rental or take lessons is off Ave Ashford by where the lagoon is. I took the 4pm rental which meant I was able to paddle board and relax into the sunset. It was essentially on a beach in the middle of nowhere. Remember to keep all your valuables or leave them in your hotel and keep your car doors unlocked. Anyway, he taught us how to paddleboard. We caught on pretty quickly with his guidance. Then, we paddled around the mangroves and even got onto our bellies to go under some mangrove canopy. It was quite therapeutic. Rumi was very knowledgeable about the area and the island, since he grew up there. Later, we went toward the opening of the bay and stopped at a beach. We snorkled for a bit, which was so much fun. Rumi would show us interesting creatures. It was so much fun and I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting vieques. I would even do it again.

As it often happens in the Caribbean, the skies looked lovely and clear and off we went for a sail. The moment we anchored where we were to eat lunch with the crew it seemed like a hurricane came down on us. It was so ridiculous that we all just burst into laughter and jumped in the water to make jokes while the downpour went over us. All this to say that they just figured out a way to turn something which could have potentially been terrible into a funny adventure. We laughed so hard that our faces hurt when we came back to land. They were lovely, the food was amazing, and their attitudes awesome. I would highly recommend them for a nice morning sail, and if you have a good sense of humor, prepare to laugh HARD! We will definitely be calling on them for our next trip into Vieques.

Also they only do ten people at a time. So its more of a small group and get more out of it. Other groups allow 40 people and its too crowded. They really care about the environment and enjoy their jobs. This is the only bio bay like this in the world! Actually people from all over the world come to Vieques to do this tour. Some roads were unpaved and the ride was bumpy; nevertheless, our driver guided and warned us about the terrain. We then got off and proceeded to the bay. Took off our footwear prior to getting on the kayak that had clear bottom. When you get to the bay and paddle, it can be difficult to hear the guide and understand where he's pointing at. The water in the bay would glow with movement. The guide also talked about some constellations. Overall, this was a very well organized tour. Though it was a nice experience, I was underwhelmed. They do not recommend bringing your cell phones on the kayak and you cannot leave your belongings on the bus. Some bought and brought waterproof clear plastic casing that can be worn/hung on the neck. Bringing the electronic devices is at your own risk; some still did and tried capturing videos/pictures but it was difficult to do so unless you have a nice camera.

We did the 1 hour tour and it was perfect. The water was beautiful and such a cool experience, but honestly more than that we were so impressed with the tour guide and driver!!!! We managed to lose our car key and realized after the tour and all 3 of the guides and shuttle driver helped us out, they went above and beyond!!!! Even the following day they helped us track it down and we're just amazing. The tour was awesome, but really these guys made the experience one we won't forget!
