Check-in and liability waivers for the bioluminescent bay kayak excursion were quick and easy. The lady working the check-in trailer provided great customer service. The company has you wait around for all of the other people to complete check-in for the scheduled time-slot. Everyone gets loaded onto a van to be shuttled out to the bioluminescent bay on a very bumpy road. The shuttle driver didn't really speak to anyone on the trip. There are no bathrooms at the check-in trailer and didn't appear to be any once you get to the bay. It is best to bring one of those waterproof phone protectors and clothes that you do not mind getting wet. As soon as you are out of the van they give you a life vest and kayak oar and start having everyone line up in pairs to wade in knee deep water and get seated in a clear kayak. Once on the clear kayak you get assigned a group guide with a glow-stick that introduces themselves to follow into the darkness on the water to various points. The guide will provide a brief history of the bay and astronomy. The bio bay itself is super cool to see in-person and it is best to go when it is completely dark. After about 30-45 minutes on the water you head back to the shuttle van for the return trip. read more
