I took this tour in early March 2014 and it was fantastic! Vieques Paddleboarding tour group was friendly, professional and easy to deal with. Jorge and Gabo were our guides. They provided gear, snacks and sunblock. I recommend that you bring a tight fitting hat or one that cinches so you don't lose it. We met at Tres Palmitas boat ramp. From there we received instruction on how to Paddleboard then off we went. We paddled to the mangroves then got down on our bellies to wade our way through the groves. We stopped along the way to learn about the trees and the surrounding life. We then paddled our way to a secluded area where we beached the paddle boards and had a quick snack. Once we were hydrated we put on our gear and snorkeled with our guides. They took time to point out the different corals, fish and other forms of sea life. After snorkeling we returned to our starting point. Our guides took photos throughout the tour and emailed them to us. That freed us up to really enjoy our time without having to worry about taking the perfect picture. This trip was the highlight of my time in Vieques. I highly recommend it.

We were shuttled to and from the site by a funny great driver. Once there we were met by two informative guys who led us to our boats. They explained the process, gave us life jackets and oars. They helped us wade to our kayaks in pairs and off we went. One guy led in front, the other stayed in back. We quickly got to a spot and played with the water to trigger the bioluminescence. As the night progressed, the "glow" was better. Movement causes the glow so contrary to some pics, it's not always glowing unless you cause it. Unfortunately we didn't see any fish or turtles. Our guide Jake explained a lot of the history/makeup of the bay. He handled our questions effectively. I didn't get any pictures as they discourage cameras/phones and also say they capturing the images is difficult. I so wish I had gotten a pic of my husband and I either in the kayak or at least with our oars...We were sad it was over-what a great experience!

The prescription snorkling goggles were life changing. On our trip we saw a sea turtle and lots of coral reef activity! This was a highlight of our trip. The Bioluminescent tour was out of this world, our driver JJ was so knowledge and helpful and made the experience all the better. Kayak guides tanner and Jake were helpful and made the tour fun! I loved working with this company, I would give it 100/5 stars, best company on the island!!!!

For most of the trip you are on paved roads, but for Secret Beach (also known as Pata Prieta), we had to stray off the paved path---a good thing. The main dirt road wasn't too bad, but then we had to turn of this road on to a smaller dirt road. This one was a little more potholed, had quite a few big rocks on it, and steep at times. I maneuvered around the rocks like Han Solo on his Millennium Falcon in an astroid field. It was an adventure just getting to Secret Beach. The parking area is at the bottom of a steep stretch of road. The lot is primitive & fairly small. I've been told that you should leave your vehicle unlocked, so that if someone is going to beak into your car, they don't have to break the window----we had a scooter, so that wasn't an issue. From the parking lot, one walks around a signed gate, and takes a short stroll to the beach. Now given its namesake, I was picturing a totally empty beach, but we saw quite a few groups here. But it wasn't super crowded, and we were definitely able to plant ourselves on a nice patch of sand out of earshot of our neighbors. The beach really is nice in that it's a small "C-shaped" cove. The sand of the beach is white and soft. The waves are fairly small and break right on the beach. This place is your mental image of a tropical beach paradise. Swimming is nice here with not many rocks/coral to worry about. I noticed on a neighboring cove west that there were more rocks. This is where most of the snorkelers were. So yeah, I wouldn't say Secret Beach is a total secret, but I'd say it's definitely worth the rough road. A solid 4.5 stars.
