I finally made it here and no lie I was a kid in a candy store. They're small but to the point! They had everything I needed and I'm going back this weekend to stock up for the month. The things that are hard to find are nestled away in here like Kewpie Mayo (the best Mayo on the planet), the Samyung Buldak sauces in the jar and they had three flavors instead of the usually one or two that I see, they also had the Korean corn dogs in the frozen section half mozz half tteokbokki which I love, a variety of different lays chip flavors you've never tasted, they have just enough here to make my day. The customer service was unexpected and great. I'll definitely be a regular here especially since it's basically the only one in Savannah that really caters to the Korean side. read more

This was my first visit to an asian market as a lover of asian food I was very excited to pick up a few ingredients and try my hand at making my favorites at home. The store is located in a shopping plaza and right next door to a massage parlor. There's plenty of parking available throughout the lot. The store can be overwhelming for someone that doesn't know much about Asian cuisine. I walked the aisles several times just to get a feel for the place. I was definitely in over my head so when I to Google to help me in my search for pho noodles. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for and I was unsure if what the store carried would work. I looked for an employee but the two that were present were deep into a personal conversation and didn't notice me so I left. I like the variety that's offered but I was extremely out of my element and was in desperate need of assistance. I'll try again, but maybe at another market next time. Amazing at the amount of choices, very friendly staff very clean and well organize. I visit a lot of Asian markets and believe me when I tell you that's the most organized one I've ever seen if you're in the neighborhood, you should check it out. They also have another market in Pooler, which is twice as big with twice as much options, so if you're in the area of either two it's definitely worth checking out. read more

Viet Huong (VH) has become my go-to Asian grocery store because it is the most well rounded Asian grocery store that I have come across in Savannah (and surrounding areas). There is one more store I do need to visit before making the final "best" declaration however. Out of all the Asian cuisines, I cook Korean the most and I am very impressed with the selection of Korean specific products that are normally only found at Korean grocery stores, although it makes my heart happy that Korean cuisine is becoming more mainstream and things like Kimchi and Korean BBQ marinades can be found on the shelves of regular grocery stores these days. It goes without saying that VH has a great selection of the other general Asian products I often cook with. VH also has the best and freshest selection of Asian specific produce as well! - Highlights (for me) - Produce - veggies like bean sprouts which are often more fresh than at a regular grocery store and in larger quantities too! Plus it's cheaper. The sprouts always look nice and fresh, white sprouts with bright yellow heads. I can also find things like daikon radish, nappa cabbage, watercress, Thai basil and white sweet potatoes. Frozen Meats - Although frozen, they have both beef and pork bones! Essential for making all kinds of soul-soothing soups. It's extremely hard to find bones at a regular grocery store and when I do, it costs a small fortune! They have oxtails too! Frozen products - They have frozen dumplings from a Korean brand. Great for quick apps for dinner. Dry Goods - Rice Paper wrappers (for summer rolls), Dangmyeon (Korean potato starch noodles) thAt are used for the popular Korean dish called Japchae; assortment of different kinds of noodles used in various Asian cooking, Roasted Seaweed Papers cut into snack sizes (individually wrapped), short grain rice in much larger quantities like 20lb bags, instant ramen noodles, lots of Korean brands including the Fire Stir Fried Spicy Noodles (translated). And then of course, they have all the sauces, curry pastes that I normally cook with for various asian cuisines. I love their dishware and gadgets section. They have a lot of stuff made out of melamine and other trinkets for the kitchen! Finally, I always look at the far end of the cash register, on the counter. Sometimes, they have Mamons which are Filipino sponge cakes! We used to have so many of those in Hawaii. They also have the Japanese Cream cheese sponge cakes too which I love. They are both so airy and not too sweet! Whether you are new to Asian Cooking or you training for the Iron Chef competitions, VH is a great place to go for all your Asian grocery needs! read more

Located in Eisenhower Plaza home of micro international flavors. Ask not for rice but what kind. I forgot about this spot since it is out of my normal radius. It is great market for Southeast Asia supplies, or if you want to glimpse across halfway around the world in your own backyard. Easy parking. It has a good size refrigerated and frozen section plus tons of canned goods. There are Chinese products but not as much as I would like. On another visit I arrived to find a line of whole roast ducks by the counter. Evidently, shipments come from Atlanta and so do a flock of goodness. I have tried several in the area from restaurants to grocers and this one gets the prize. Take it home and reheat. Beautiful golden roasted juiciness. All hail to crispy skin! It also comes with containers of jus and it is seasoned perfectly a la Asian. read more

This store had everything I was looking for! I was able to find such good kimchi in a jar! I was able to find frozen dumplings and also frozen dumpling paper so I can make my own! They also had bulgogi marinade and sauce which was awesome! They have all different types of ramen brands! Overall I was pleased with the items that they carry! read more

Out of all the asian stores in town, this is by far the BEST one. They have a variety of things and fresh veggies and fruits. They have these Filipino (Calamansi) drinks I love to get. Tastes so good! My favorite thing to get from here is the Asian fish ice cream. It has a waffle like exterior and filled with strawberry / red bean / green tea / or chocolate ice cream. This is a really small Vietnamese Supermarket that when I first checked Yelp, the small supermarket didn't have good rating, but I was curious about the place since in Savannah there are not too many Asian groceries. Time to time I visited the place, the owner recognized me, she started to ask my nationality and wanted me to give some suggestions about what kind of food will interest Japanese come to shop. I was glad I would be able to find more food I am familiar with from the store. Couple times I requested certain items, and the owner really tried hard to get the items back. This is the third Asian market I've recently visited since my move back to Savannah--I'd frequented many Asian groceries back when I lived here before, but at least one of those has closed in the time elapsed. Viet Huong is in a sense the progeny of that market, as it is run by the daughter of the owner of the former market. The emphasis here is on Vietnamese goods as the owner is Viet however they carry a good array of general Asian staples and have some degree of emphasis also on Korean and Filipino foods. The young lady who runs it is beyond charming: she's outgoing, funny, and a great saleswoman, as well. I asked her if they had sweet soy sauce and not only did she have four different varieties/brands in stock, but she asked me in return to educate her on its use in Chinese cuisine some, because it's something apparently used far less in Viet cooking. The prices are very fair, the store is clean and neatly-organized (well, at least by the standards of Asian groceries, which can be notoriously cluttered) and the produce is incredibly fresh--I got some baby bok choy which had literally just arrived. This is certainly my favorite of Savannah's current Asian markets: the other two I visited were owned by Koreans and with an emphasis thus on Korean food, but their owners/staff were far less friendly and one lady was as unhelpful as she could be. Viet Huong is a great place to go shopping! It's in a pretty convenient location for me and makes it easy to pop in and pop out. This place is kinda small but listen they have everything! I won't even lie I couldn't tell you half of the stuff in there but every single time we go we try something new and are satisfied. This time we got a new red curry paste that looks delicious! They also have some pretty great fresh udon here and a large selection of sauces (yes I get lost in the sauce). The service here is also excellent! The first time we went in we had no idea where everything was so we asked one of the ladies that worked there for help. She was awesome to say the least. She was super helpful, she helped us find everything, gave good suggestions and offered us brand new products that were all good! I love this little store and will def keep coming back! read more

If you plan on making any sort of Asian dish at home then you must plan on stopping in 1st . Why on earth would you go to one of the nationwide grocery chain stores to buy those ingredients especially when you'll be paying double or triple the price . You can't get sweet soy sauce from Publix nor pork buns or the many unique ingredients on sale here . The staff is extremely helpful and have no problems answering any of your questions . This Asian market is heavy with Vietnamese foods. I can also find a lot of Chinese foods as well. I do not see much Japanese for Korean foods here. They sell all sorts of snacks, coffee, sodas, juice and more. I find pork buns, noodles, veggies and frozen fruit. They do carry Ice cream Mochi. A lot of the foods they sell come from America. A lot of the Asian foods are manufactured in California. I also found a good assortment of pots, pans, rice cookers and utensils. I was excited to find another nice Asian store here in Savannah. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will return again. I am sure I will need more peanut sauce. read more

This store has EVERYTHING!! I'm new to Asian cooking after watching & watching YouTube videos. So I went to Viet Huong to get what I needed to make Kimchi but ended up buying much more than that! The staff was extremely nice & helpful. I'll definitely be going back! Went to the market on Derenne where they weren't helpful at all. This is a great little market! They have some beautiful produce, beautiful long beans and several varieties of Asian eggplants and Squash. Large frozen food section with hard to find items. Very clean and the owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable! Will definitely return the next time I am in Savannah! read more

A small store with a fairly limited selection, but I found what I wanted. I probably came in too late in the season as the only Chinese moon cakes they had left were for more money than I was willing to spend. Otherwise their prices are average and the staff is friendly. We moved to Savannah from St Louis a little over a year ago and we had difficulty finding good Asian markets to make Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese dishes that we love. I stopped in to Viet Huong market about 2 months ago when it was first getting stocked and the shelves were fairly empty. I just went in today and Rhonda Tran, the owner, has the place stocked to the max with all the ingredients we need to make our favorite Asian dishes. She was extremely helpful and kind. Fresh Asian vegetables arrive on Friday's, I believe. It is one of the best stocked, and reasonably priced, Asian markets I have seen this side of the ones in major metropolitan areas. Please give them a try, as I would sure hate to see this market go out of business because no one knows about it. Please pass the word. read more
