I had spring rolls, I think they were pork ones (Bi Cuon), and they were delicious, and the special Pho which was also very good. They do not serve alcohol and have a pretty steep charge for BYO alcohol. It was a Friday, earlyish afternoon and it was easy to get a table and service was good. This cost about 17 quid. If I was in the area looking for Pho I would go back. I like my Pho, I have had it in other places in London, Paris, Melbourne and in Vietnam and this rates as very good and the price is also reasonable so it gets the five stars. read more

This has been my long term favorite place but recent few vist are very disappointing, their food taste have gone from average Vietnamese taste to bad, the soup for their Pho have been watered down as if the greedy owner have been trying to squeeze the last bit out of the stock, the Pho noodle are instant noodle which are very chewy like rubber. I told myself may be I go there the wrong time of the day. This is the last time I will go back to this place because I already gave them a few chances to improve but instead it gets worst and worst. It was a rainy day in London, said everyone always, or so it seems. I've been craving pho for a long time. The broth is pretty good, it's rich as expected. Beefy, slightly sweet from the shrimp, sweeter from the anise, and onion flavor. The broth was a little too sweet for my taste. The noodles are bigger than noodles served with Pho in the states (that is my point of reference). They were closer to the size of udon noodles than the pho that I'm used to. About me: had Pho at multiple restaurants in US cities including Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas, West Yellowstone, and Pacific Northwest; first time eating pho in London, UK. Food: beef in the pho is way over cooked. It's very hard for me to chew. I am under 30 years old and my teeth are in good condition. If you don't mind swallowing them whole, then feel free to try them. Noodles are very hard as well, though very rare in other restaurants. Cleanness: floor and tables are clean; stains on the utensil Service: additional 10% service charges added to the bill for just taking your order, bringing food to the table and bringing the bill. Summary: I wouldn't go back to this place even if I was offered free food. However, I am a tourist (you can tell from my accent and the big camera bag) and it's possible that I was being treated differently. As a devout Phi "Phan," I decided to check out Viet Pho while near Greek Street. Viet Pho satisfied my craving, but it had been my third week in London and I was really in the mood for Pho. Popped in for lunch with a friend the other day as it is round the corner from the Curzon Soho cinema. Had the Pho Prawns, which was decently good though too salty for my taste. It's the sort of place where you have to ask for tap water 3-4 times despite the food coming out rather quickly. My friend got the Pad Thai which he enjoyed but looked very heavy on the sauce to me. I ordered the special and it came with both chicken and beef and also shrimp. the fuck? weird as fuck. the noodles were great though. i have no idea why my order took forever to come out though and it was really starting to piss me off. small place small seatings so come at the right time. read more

Why the heck is this place so popular? Maybe it's just because we're 2 foodies from Sydney and have smashing Vietnamese food at our doorstep at home, but we couldn't even rustle up an "OK" for the watery soup, lack of flavours, dour service from the staff and painful queuing inside the restaurant. This place was simply depressing for its poor food. Wake up people, Vietnamese food is much more than this junk. I was told Viet was the place to go when craving cheap and authentic Vietnamese in Soho,and,even though I liked Viet better than both Cay Tre and Pho (and it is without doubt the cheapest and most authentic of them three),I would not exactly rush back. Viet is situated on Greek Street,very close to Curzon Soho. I give you this piece of information as it is so inconspicous that I walked up and down Greek Street trying to find it and passed it several times without noticing it. (NB:I was not drunk at this occasion). It is super basic and consequently very cheap. You pay something around 2-4 pounds for most of the starters and 6-8 pounds for the mains. Alcohol is not served but for a small corkage charge you may bring your own booze. The waiters couldn't care less. If you have managed to attract their attention,they are nice enough,but in general they are not exactly the epitome of efficiency and good customer service. But now to the food:The Vietnamese summer rollswere lovely filled with succulent prawns,fresh salad and herbs as well as bouncy rice noodles. Since I have learned how to do Bo la lot minced beef wraped in betel leaves at Leluu's Vietnamese Cooking Course,I have very high standards for this Vietnamese favourite. I found the Viet version to be nothing more than ok. While the aromatic and peppery flavours of the betel leaves were beautiful,the beef filling was under-seasoned and cried for some more fish sauce and lemongrass. Unfortunately also the two mains were predominantly characterised by their blandness. Bun cha (cold vermicelli noodles topped with chicken,bean sprouts,cucumber and herbs) would have been amazing if the massive amount of tasteless green salad would have been replaced by fragrant Vietnamese mint. Also the ginger and lemongrass chicken was stingy on flavour and was nothing to write home. There was nothing wrong as such with either of the dishes,but of all them would have needed just this little bit more (herbs? flavours? seasoning?) to convince me. I would go back if I craved Vietnamese and was restricted to the Soho location. Less than 15 pounds a head for a quick and reasonable meal is not bad at all. However,there is just no escaping the fact that for good Vietnamese,you have to go East. read more

Have been here multiple times for Pho. The broth is always very tasty and the noodles nice and tender. However, I think it is a bit pricey for lunch and my pet peeve is that the chilis that they serve alongside it taste more like bell peppers and have very little heat. Also, their takeaway though plentiful is difficult to eat since the cup of broth is always so full that you can't add the noodles without first drinking some of the broth. read more

Nice food, not the best service. Very convenient but at times the line is too long. The noodles seem quite authentic but the service isn't the greatest. They give generous portions and the soup is great. The fried spring rolls were very tasty as well. I would definitely go back next time I'm in London. read more

Great for a quick 20 minute lunch and very popular. Get there by 12.30 if you don't want to hang around for a seat. Food is excellent, reasonable prices (around the £6 to £7 mark for a main course) and friendly service. Go once and it'll soon become a regular. read more

I'm Vietnamese and have tried pretty much all the Vietnamese restaurants in London in search of a pho that is close to what you can get in Vietnam. So far, this restaurant wins for the best pho. The broth (most important) is close to perfect, the beef is tender and the noodles have the right springy consistency. Only missing is the authentic Vietnamese herbs (mint, basil, and the long green herb that I can't remember the name of). read more
