Kape Tayo was one of only two Huntsville stops that Bethany specifically wanted to visit, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This Filipino-inspired coffee shop offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere, excellent service, and drinks that stand apart from the typical chain coffee experience. Our family sampled three beverages: the Salted Caramel Kape, a Kape Kape with added caramel, and an Ube Kape. Every drink was smooth, flavorful, and expertly prepared. For food, my wife and I ordered the pork siopao while Bethany chose the chicken siopao. Both arrived piping hot, with soft, pillowy buns and savory fillings that paired perfectly with the coffee. The service was friendly, the ambiance inviting, and every item we ordered exceeded expectations. It's refreshing to find a local café that executes both beverages and light bites so well. Best of all, this was one of the places Bethany most wanted to experience during our trip to Huntsville, and it did not disappoint. Kape Tayo delivered memorable coffee, delicious siopao, and an experience that left all three of us wanting to come back. I usually drop by here because it's a nice treat as you're walking around University Pickers. I've been here twice and while customer service is good, I'm not that big of a fan of how much you have to pay for the drink and the content of ice that goes into your drink. I paid $8.51 (before tip) for a large Buko Pandan, and for the price point expected a lot more to drink. Most of the coconut jellies and tapioca pearls fell to the bottom of the drink underneath the ice. In addition, I'm not sure if there's just a lot of Pandan dye that was used but the interior of my mouth was pretty green after finishing the drink. If there's a way to get less ice, I'd prefer that. read more

I finally tried this Filipino coffee shop! I've been meaning to but it's in such an odd spot being on the 2nd floor of university pickers that I forget about it. Finally tried it and got the Halo Halo. They do theirs a bit different than I've had in the past but it's still delicious! I'll try their coffee next time. read more

Located on the second floor of University is this small cafe with amazingly delicious asian drinks. You can find ube, pandan, thai and filipino versions, as well as some small snacks of the asian variety like siopao. I had the iced ube kape which is basically an iced latte and it was delicious! Very much like the ones I used to get in Seattle. Looking forward to trying other flavors. The cafe is basically just a window you order from and then pick up on the other side, so not exactly a spot to go sit and chill, but being inside University Pickers you don't need to sit. It's great to just grab a drink and walk around looking at all the fun goodies for sale. read more

I enjoy this fun little walk-up coffee spot! This business is located inside University Pickers on the second floor. There are a few tables and chairs in a small anteroom, but for the most part, it's order and pickup at the counter. Works out nicely if you're looking for something to sip on while you browse all the goodies and gifts. Kape Tayo is focused on Filipino style coffee and treats, and even has some offerings that are basically impossible to find commercially throughout the city like halohalo. The menu is mostly made up of beverages, but they do have a few snack offerings like pork sio pao, cookies, and muffins. I've been ~3 times now and have enjoyed myself each time. My favorite thing I've gotten so far is their speciality, the iced Kape Kape, which is Kapiko coffee, milk, and coffee gels/jelly. It's a really nice little treat! Sweet and refreshing. All the drinks I've tried have been on the more dessert-y side than coffee side, which is perfect for me as someone who likes some coffee in their sugar...but just a heads up if that's not you! My only complaint is I do think the drinks are pretty heavy on the milk : coffee ratio, especially for my preference. I had some sips that tasted pretty much just like milk the last time I visited, even after mixing the drink up more. Still, I've enjoyed each of my drinks and look forward to returning again to try one of their weekly specials. Also definitely wanna give pandan a try too...never had that before. :) read more

This place was awesome! I walked up and asked for their most popular drink and I got a purple ube iced latte, and it was incredible. The coconuty and ube flavour are all there, but you still get that slight taste of coffee. Wow. I definitely want to come back here again. Oh, and the jukebox was fun as I waited for my drink (which didn't take all that long to make at all either). Also there's shopping throughout the building, so it's equivalent to getting starbies before doing target shopping, but in this case, highly curated and chic (so more fun and better for the local economy). read more
