Not bad for Brantford; not too many unique food options in this area. The rare beef did not have very good cuts of meat. Vegetable very good. The place is dumpy, at least 1/2 a dozen table dirty/left to sit w cups, plates. Worst of all a playpen?!?! and baby crying, do they live in the restaurant as well?!!?? Nothing like trying to eat a meal while a mother is attempting to put a kid down into a playpen, ridiculous. read more

I'm torn... a 2 might be a bit harsh, or not. Three of us went there for dinner... the staff was friendly i suppose. I ordered a starter, no one else did. My starter showed up, and 30 seconds later my main showed up... the other 2 mains didn't come out for 4-5 minutes... so I'm sitting there with a bunch of food while the other two had to wait. Didn't make a whole lot of sense. There is no A/C so it was literally 35 degrees. The garden rolls had some very wilted lettuce in them and just flat out weren't fresh tasting. My main was ok, there was some decent flavour in there but over all i thought it was kind of lacking. The portion size was huge. Overall it wasn't awful, but i think it could have been much better. read more

At first glance, I was a bit skeptical eating here, but after seeing all the great reviews from fellow Yelpers, I thought I'd give it a fair go. From the first sip of Jasmine tea, to the last spoonful of pho, I was very happy with my dining experience. The crispy meat roll is super delicious! Awesome crunch! Plus, the included sweet heat sauce is a perfect match. Had the No. 47....very flavorful, and the accompanying basil and bean sprouts were super fresh. My only complaint is I felt there could have been more beef in the pho. Great prices and friendly service! I will be back. read more

We would often drive by this place, and one evening we decided to stop and give it a try. What a pleasant surprise. Definitely the best rice noodle soup we have had in Brantford. The service is always quick and you receive exactly what you order. The prices are quite reasonable (two meat spring rolls and a large soup for $10.45). The decor is simple, but clean. Pad Thai is a wonderful blend of the sweetness of palm sugar, juxtaposed with the sourness of tamarind, the saltiness of fish sauce, against a chili spiced/garlic/onion/egg with crisp fresh vegetables, topped with fresh lime and chopped roasted peanuts often with fresh bean sprouts peppers and carrots. This is a very cute moms and pops restaurant in Brantford. My fiance and I were visiting some of our friends who are attending university here. They recommended to us to try out Viet Thai because we were craving for Vietnamese food. Their beef pho broth was not disappointing at all, we also ordered their sizzling plate and it was amazing. Something very different from what I had in Toronto. The flavours were very rich and tasteful. We both really enjoyed our meal. Food is actually good however I brought my son here to show him what it might be like to go to jail. I wish the owners would see it from a customer perspective. The dining room is filthy; so out of date and gross bathrooms. Out of date is ok if it's clean. In Brantford to train at the fantastic hospital here. On-call and needed some dinner, so I headed over. Got red curry with chicken. Good flavours. I got at medium spicy which wasn't spicy enough, but definitely very flavorful. Good coconut flavor, not over-powering. Two best parts about the curry. Crisp vegetables and so much variety - cauliflower, snap peas, broccoli. And the food is very hot - 20 minutes must have passed before I got down to eating the food (pick-up) but it was still quite hot. The place looks like a mom and pop - the owner's kid was running around :P. Nice place! read more

Pho was loaded with tasty fresh beef , tasty broth . Friendly service , was offered tea immediately after sitting down . The tea was also very tasty . Happy to have this place be a part of Branford , hopefully others stop by and appreciate it as well. The decor is more low key casual. The menu could look more professional as well , I hope with more customers they invest a bit into giving the place a bit more character with the decor and more professionally laid out menus . read more

Looks are deceiving! From reading previous reviews you might see this place as a 'dump' someone even commented on the playpen near the kitchen. Although it may not look pretty I always find it clean. I love seeing the owner and his family together in this restaurant, they are always inviting and you can tell they work hard. The food here is A+! I order here once a week. Serving sizes are huge, I always have leftovers for the next day. Flavourful and SUPER fresh. read more

This is by far the best Viet Thai Fusion restaurant. Every time when I'm in town this has to be my first stop for lunch. This place serves one of my top favourites of pho (beef noodle soup). Each time I come here and have one of their famous pho dishes I feel like im sitting back enjoying my noodle soup on the busy night markets of Vietnam. What awesome feeling that is! Really enjoyed our meal, good simple food made well, and reasonably priced. The venue atmosphere is like going to an Asian friends house for dinner, very casual, and they seems to have a number of regular local customers. Quaint but spacious. The food here is amazing and always fresh. If you like spice, try the tom yum soup! The sizzling plates are amazing and the prices are very reasonable. I was in Brantford for work, and was so excited to find a Vietnamese place in Brantford. To my delight, the food was authentic, fresh, and delicious. The Pho with rare beef was delicate, well seasoned, fresh, and just what I am accustomed to at the authentic Vietnamese joints in Toronto. After a quick chat with the server, I discovered that is because this IS an authentic Vietnamese owned place, a real mom-and-pop operation.The crispy pork spring rolls were also very good. After reading some of the reviews of this place, I decided to give this place a try. The Pho, spring/meat rolls, Pad Thai, and Chicken Fried Rice were quite nice. The owner's son was quite nice and gracious, but the other server that was serving us could improve on his customer service skills. When I asked him about certain items on the menu, he wasn't able to explain things well enough. I also noticed that we had to ask for napkins which should have been automatic when bringing out the food. Overall, it is good value for the money. Please note that I had tried to come to this place a few times but they were closed. This place is not good for late night fare or I think it is on Mondays when it is closed. read more

I have been coming to this location for years, even when it was a different Vietnamese restaurant. Although the food has always been decent the service was never very good. The people the run the restaurant always treat you like complete strangers and nothing stays very consistent. The only reason I continued coming to this place was because the soup was good, but even that has been hit or miss recently. Unfortunately I had such a bad experience my last visit that I cannot say I will be returning. My wife and I went to have lunch there and decided to share a meal between the two of us. What I did not know, and was not informed about until we questioned the final price, was that we were to be charged for an empty bowl. Not extra soup, not extra anything, just a small side bowl to put some broth in. They charged us for simply wanting to share food. When I asked the staff about it they got very upset with me and started yelling, telling me that I should not share food and that they would charge me for the complimentary tea next time I came in because I complained. I don't know why I would get charged for an empty dish. And I don't know why the staff was so hostile towards us. They even told us to go to Quan99 if we didn't like the service. How can a place be so rude to their customers? read more

I only come here for pho as this is a viet owned place. Not sure why others are disappointed in a Thai dish when they're not at a Thai restaurant. Any who like most pho, the broth is about the same and you can't really mess it up. This pho broth here is very different but in a good way. Can't exactly say what but it's a little more peppery. It's definitely something new and good from your old typical pho you get. The meat rolls are also very crispy and actually full meat which is what I like. Some places advertise meat roll and they add veggies in it to fill it up more. Definitely recommend at least trying the pho house special here once to see if you like their style of broth. If you get chicken pho it will be a different broth though. read more
