Quick, friendly, good, and large portions. What could be better? If we lived here we'd be back at least once a week. The tofu green chili was so good - it was hard to stop eating. Spicy curry sauce with soft fried tofu, green peppers, snow peas, and white rice. Happy to have leftovers for tomorrow! My husband got coconut rice noodles with shrimp and crabmeat. He loved it! The shrimp was perfectly cooked and everything served hot. Opted to try the mango sticky rice. It's not real sweet and large enough to share. The mango is so refreshing! One of the most unique fusion restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to dine in. VTC is eclectic, modern, clean and the fanciest place I have ordered a bowl of Pho. In short, the place is fabulous. The food was amazing but upon entry our server was fun, engaging, and just a delight. He knew the menu, knew the flavors and made great suggestions according to our likes and dislikes. What I thought I wanted was a Panang curry. That was not on the menu so our server suggested the Red Curry which came with my choice of protein(s). It was sublime all the flavor I wanted and some of what I needed in a steaming hot bowl of delicious Thai curry. We also ordered California rolls and some Pho. Everything was executed to perfection. When I am in the area this will certainly be my go to place for curry and Pho. The parking lot is HUGE as it is located in a large strip mall. Don't forget to try the Red curry y'all!!! We've had good meals here before but today's meal was unacceptable. The sticky mango rice had BROWN MANGOS. Gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they cooked them and took a bite- BIG MISTAKE. 100% SPOILED MANGOS. Ordered egg rolls, cheese wontons, general tso's, curry, and sticky mango rice to-go. The curry was very good, but the rest of the meal was very disappointing! Egg rolls and wontons were barely warm and soggy - and we had to wait for them to finish the order when we got there so it's not like we were super late picking it up. General Tso's was not even remotely impressive- it got tossed. We've had good experiences here in the past but not likely to give it another try anytime soon read more

I go there for the fried rice, which is amazing. You have to remember though to ask for little shrimp instead of big shrimp and you have to ask to have vegetables to be added or else it's just sort of plain old fried rice. I've tried some of their desserts. I'm not a big fan but to each there own. The ambience is sort of typical the Chinese ,Japanese Thai restaurant. Their big fail is service. I cannot begin to tell you how slow they are. I'm talking slow. I've been there when they've been busy and when they've been slow and the service is always the same very very slow. They are actually more interested in talking to each other than waiting on their customers. Good for them is I tip 20% even if the service is horrible but they were you got a better tip if service was good. read more

Seats at sushi bar opened up in 5 min, they were low so my 90 yr old mom and husband saw every roll coming out from the sushi chef. Just beautiful and tasty too. We were in the York area for the Central Penn Parent Family Festival which, by the way, was rather lame compared to the Harrisburg version. Nonetheless, my real motive for the attendance was to sample a local restaurant in York ;-) Viet Thai Cafe bubbled up to the top of the list according Yelp. The restaurant was easy to find, situated in a big strip mall along side with Lowe's and Giant. The decor and vibe felt contemporary and at the same time ethnic; consistent from the entrance to the bathrooms. The light fixtures and and wall arts were all well coordinated and nicely done. The place felt clean and spacious. One striking observation while we were being seated was that the entire management and waiting staff were Caucasian, and so was the clientele! This could generally mean one of two things for an ethnic restaurant: 1. the prices are inflated; 2. the food is not authentic. Well, I am glad to report that the prices were quite reasonable, and the dishes weren't that far off. Both the prices and menu selections span over a wide spectrum, just about any one can find a comfortable niche. Very smart of the management! The menu was a fusion of mainly Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese; but they also sneaked in one handful of Korean, Chinese, and even Malaysian dishes. We ordered only 3 dishes: 1 - The Spicy Pad Kapow Chicken (Thai) came with a bowl of rice. It didn't have enough kick and the flavors were weak. It took me a while to get into a rhythm and got my palate going with the taste. 2 - The Birdsnest, inspired by the Chinese pan fried noodle dish, was a good attempt though not authentic. The texture of the pan fried noodle was more reminiscent of "chow mein" than the bona fide Cantonese thin egg noodles. The sauce was also too liquidy. 3 - The Korean Sesame Noodles with Beef was the best of the 3 in my opinion. The sweet potato noodles were perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely. It had a very interesting and welcoming texture. The only problem was the beef was way overcooked and the green beans slightly under-cooked. So obviously the food missed the bar. However, the service was excellent. There were at least 5 waiting staff, not counting the manager/cashier. They were all friendly and courteous. Together with the elegant ambiance and wide selection of Asian dishes, I feel Viet Thai Cafe deserves a 4 star rating based on my overall experience. read more

For our date day outing away from work we came up to PA to enjoy the afternoon and evening near Hershey Park for Hershey Park at Dark. We stopped here along the way because it had really good reviews. Drinks: We both had the Thai Tea. It quenched our thirst. We loved it so much they gave us to go cups. Food: For appetizers we had the veggie egg rolls and they were the best I've ever had. For entree I had the Shaky Beef entree with Shrimp added. It comes with a side of rice of your choosing. I got the fried rice with mine. The sauces & spices used were paired very well with the meal. Overall great entree but next time I won't use as much sauce. My girlfriend had the Silver Noodles with Tofu. She said the entree was delicious however she is used to tofu with a bit more seasoning. I usually fear Pan-Asian places. The sushi is old like canned tuna. The Thai is sorry. The Chinese is slushy. However, VT pulls it off. I had the Laotian national dish of Larb. It was different. It was good. I don't know Laotian food but it was great. I wanted something protein vs. just carbs and this hit the spot. The Beef Skewers app was very good also. I like that they are in the 'burbs, no longer in the city of York. Parking is plenteous and the place is clean. The server was friendly. On the way out, I saw a delivery truck from New York City delivering sushi grade fresh fish. That was encouraging as I am sure they are paying a premium for it. So, Viet Thai panned out despite my reservations. I still prefer a nationality dedicated cuisine but in Central Pa, it probably makes more sense to cover the bases outside of Lancaster or Harrisburg. read more

It was just ok. It could be a good option if you are going out with 10+ people and everyone wanted something different. However if it's just you and you want Thai, Japanese or Vietnamese then go to an actual authentic restaurant because you won't get authentic here. Ie food tastes like some white guy made it. I think it gets a lot of 5 star reviews from locals that lack culinary experiences. My pad Thai which costs over $13, not $6ish like in another review. It lacked peanuts, cilantro and bean sprouts. It looked nothing like the picture that you see in the reviews. Probably received 50% of the portion in that pic. Also the sriracha was not sriracha or it was diluted because I used the entire side I paid $1+ for and it wasn't hot at all. Now when I buy sriracha sauce I usually can't use that much without noticing a real burn. The chicken was dry, limes I paid for were almost dehydrated. Each lime slice produced a small drop of juice. The wrong noodles were used to make the pad Thai too. I also ordered the spicy salmon roll and dynamite roll. Once again go to a sushi restaurant if you want good sushi. I would equate this quality to that of Sams club. Wasabi side was the size of a pea. No ponzu sauce available. Rolls are loose and fall apart. Salmon was dry and almost dehydrated in my spicy salmon roll. I also ordered Vietnamese summer rolls. Once again go to a Vietnamese restaurant for authentic food. The rice wrapping was soggy. The pork in my shrimp roll was questionable if it was safe to eat. The plum peanut sauce lacked a real peanut taste. Really I have no reason to ever return. It all tastes like it was premade and stored for days before it's served. Like I said it wasn't terrible it just wasn't good, fresh, authentic, portioned correctly, or a value. My bill came to over $40 and I ate almost all of it in one sitting. Normally I'm full on 3 sushi rolls. Can't finish a bowl of pho soup and one summer roll. Completely content with a normal portion of pad Thai anywhere else. Today I ate one summer roll, 2 sushi rolls and most of my pad thai. I only give it 3 stars because it's a good idea for groups because of the extensive menu and the health score was in the 90s. Otherwise I would only give 2 stars. read more

It was our first dinner out with friends in more than a year and I am glad our friends chose Viet Thai Cafe. Choices include Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese cuisines as well as sushi. We started with pot stickers which were really good and continued to our mains. One friend ordered a Vietnamese spicy soup which came in a huge bowl. She orders it almost every time she goes there and I'd tell you what it was if I could remember! Other friend ordered two apps as his dinner- fried calamari and wings. They looked good and were presented beautifully on shredded lettuce and accompanied by dipping sauces. I ordered eggplant and chicken stir fry. It was filled with beautifully fresh red and green peppers, baby eggplant slices and other veggies. The chicken slices were overcooked, dry and a little tough, which is why I gave 4 stars rather than 5. The sauce was mild and tasty and it was accompanied by a bowl of rice. My husband ordered beef chow fun- wife noodles with slices of beef which were not overcooked. It was filled with lots of vegetables and had a slightly spicy sauce. Also came with a bowl of rice. Of course I tasted it and it was a little too spicy for me, whereas he said it wasn't spicy, just delicious! Service was good. The place is pretty. We were seated near the sushi bar (people can sit at the sushi bar) and had a view of the sushi making process. The place is BYOB. We didn't know that but our friends brought some wine. I don't know if there is a fee for that. Everything that walked by our table looked great! We will definitely return- we need to try the Pad Thai and the shaky beef! It all looked good. Came here with my mom for lunch because I've been craving for viet food. I heard about this place from Yelp so decided to give it a try. Wow this place is a little hidden gem, it seems so small and not very noticeable from the outside. When you walk in, the interior is nice and customer service was excellent. Friday lunch was busy but we came right on time to get a seat before the line is formed. We got summer rolls to share as appetizer. For entree, I got pho Tai which is pho with rare sliced beef and meat balls. The food was excellent, I finished it so quickly. My mom got tempura shrimp roll and they looked fewer than other sushi restaurants. My mom doesn't mind it, she said it's perfect for her, and she enjoyed her roll. There are so many different food here, I only tried part of viet food today, I will have to come back to try their Thai food or sushi. Definitely will come back again! read more

After eating here about 4 or 5 times since my last review unfortunately I have a change of heart of the food. Not sure if this place got a new chef but the food declined. Way too much sauce on the dish, food was really salty and greasy.
