Delicious surprise! Big win was the tofu and shrimp DIY wraps, which were tasty and flavorful. Service was kind and prompt.

Tucked away at the corner of the Colorado Marketplace shopping center which is anchored by Safeway is this pretty nice Vietnamese Cafe with ample seating and outdoor patio. Got here for lunch and was promptly seated with a glass of water. The service is definitely spot on and within 5 minutes someone came to see if i was ready. I was. I'd looked over the extensive menu and was impressed by the assortment of well known Asian foods. I will admit that i am sucker for egg plant and they have an Sriracha Eggplant that really intrigued me. After varying that it would not be a burning inferno in my mouth (I can only take so much heat!) i decided to try out. It literally took 6-7 minutes to come out of the kitchen piping hot and with white rice. It was delicious. So much so that i almost finished the huge portion...but my senses prevailed and i did take some home. Wow, I'm not sure I've ever noticed this dish before it was great. The heat is medium to mild and it is all veggies with a tangy sauce that goes great with the rice. Overall a pleasant lunch experience and i am likely to come back. read more

Mediocre Vietnanese cuisine that is more catered to the locals surrounding the area. It's the restaurant I'd go to when I am lazy and don't want to travel further west or south. Service is decent and interior is quite nice. Their menu selection is average but they do serve alcohol. Keep in mind this places closes on Mondays. Overall their menu is pricey for quantity of food compared to other Vietnamese restaurants further south and west. Parking is a shitshow during peak hours as they share their parking lot with the McDonald's and gas station across the street. It is a high traffic area so pulling into a parking spot or leaving can be a pain. read more

Depart plane at D.I.A.. Pee. Drive by demon blue horse (don't hate) and head to vet on 104th to pick up Mr. Collins. Torn between two lover's....no food at home and one pissed off dog waiting. Greasy delivery at home...ah, no. I spied the sign for this joint. Two weeks of pho withdrawal and this oasis arises; DT's, spiders under skin, severe malnourishment. OK, ate really well in Chicago but didn't run into one pho place. Curious. HOT broth!! HOT burn your mouth and cooking the noodles perfectly broth. Needed no tweaking, no limes or sauces, just sprouts and jalapenos. There was half a cow in my pho. No really, I think it mooed. The ball-n-chain wondered if grandma was making the broth and millions of meatballs in the kitchen. The thing was, there was a huge selection of dishes and the pho was hidden in the corner of the menu. It really should have been more prominently placed on the menu. Cloth napkins. Woot! Nice veggie plate, served with fresh cilantro. Two sizes of broth, no nasty bits but the broth is great. Specify or you will get the large at a whopping $6.95 - damn the suburbs! Service, well you know, you have all been to Vietnamese places...it is what it is and isn't. Really. But if we are ever starving after a flight and need to pick up a hound, we will hit this place. read more

The restaurant has a giant Buddha Alter with offerings. The offerings consists of flowers, incense, fruit, diet coke (I think) in a glass, and a glazed chocolate donut. My guess is that the Buddha likes his daily chocolate donut and diet coke enough to bless this restaurant with talented cooks and lots of customers who love the food. Honestly, this is the best Vietnamese food I've had EVER. Granted I keep getting the same couple of dishes, but they are all excellent. Their seafood soup (like pho, but with a pork broth) lasts me two meals at least. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy. The combination plate has barbecued shrimp, pork, and beef with rice noodles. Egg noodle soup, delicious. My friend visiting from San Jose (which has a very large Vietnamese population) said that this food was better than what he's had in CA. Eat here. Your taste buds will thank you. UPDATE On my last two visits to this place, the quality has fallen. Maybe they are super busy, but my to-go pho had raw beef! Yuk! But hey- that's just my opinion :) Came here upon Hans' suggestion but for his sake it was a suggestion from his coworker. We were starving after volleyball at Oasis in the area and decided to come for dinner. Got an order of egg rolls (which i think had beef in them..nasty). However I was starving so they did the job. I ended up eating mostly the noodles/peanuts they were served with, though. We each decided on small bowls of pho for our dinner. Pho shouldn't take 15 minutes to come out, especially when we're the only ones in the restaurant. But it did. And when it came....disappointment. The broth was so sweet! The meat cuts were cheap tasting, and the garnish the pho came with was limp and unsettling looking. Man I hate to be a bitch here but if it's one thing I'm snobby about, its pho. Now, most Yelpers seem to think that pho is the be-all and end-all of Vietnamese cuisine. I ain't that big of a fan of pho, although I'm sure it's great here. Typical Grocery Store shopping mall, McDonnolds in the parking lot, LQ store, Laundry-mat/H&R Block, Alberstons, Vietnamese Cafe..... you don't expect much. My Aunt took me here one day for lunch and I've been hooked ever since. Although I've only ever had one thing, it's served me well. The Lemongrass chicken noodle bowl and my new fav. the combination, steak, shrimp noodle bowl. I hate shrimp so I give them to my husband, but the steak is sooooooooo good! I absolutely love this place! I find myself craving their food at least one night a week, and feel pretty good after eating it. We've taken some Denver friends to this place and everyone has had only great things to say about it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and casual, nothing too fancy. It's the food that we really love though, we often call in to order our meals to go and they always are great. After sampling many items on the menu the only thing I ever order, because it is so amazing, is their beef noodle bowl with a soy-ginger sauce instead of the usual fish sauce. The beef has a sweet glaze to it that I really enjoy. It comes with Asian sprouts, cilantro, carrots, noodles, and some lettuce. My husband always gets the same thing too after trying the beef. When we want to treat ourselves we'll grab a Boba Smoothie from them as well - they have a lot of really fresh flavors and they're all really tasty. We've tried them all. This restaurant is a favorite of our family and friends, whenever we want to go out to eat but not feel like we've totally cheated on our healthy diets this is the place that we go to. read more

I had a noodle bowl with chicken and my gf had the grilled meat sampler with chicken, beef, and pork all on one plate, all marinated with lemongrass. We also started with some pork egg roles. Pho, Vietnamese entrées, and a full bar were also available here. My noodle bowl was good, and the chicken was flavorful, but the experience paled in comparison to the Vietnamese food I've experienced just a few miles away in Denver. Thornton, Colorado-Behind a McDonalds and a tire shop in a strip mall in good ol' Thornton Colorado lies a little local gem called Vietnamese Cafe... perhaps oddly, they serve Chinese. And Vietnamese...But mostly Chinese. Any time of the year the restaurant is blasting arctic air conditioning so bring your jacket (and your earmuffs, gloves, and snow boots). Grab a hot cup of tea and calm down. Do yourself a favor and order the vegetable curry. It has no spice but even my spice-loving husband devours it. The sauce is creamy and flavorful with a slight hint of coconut. The veggies are slightly tender and well assorted. Pair it with rice and a vegetable egg roll and you've got an awesome meal- actually two meals. The portions are huge so I always bring half home to the Prince Charming. read more

I see 2 types of ethnic restaurants. First is the kind that makes authentic food, has a menu in their native language with a translation next to it. The other is type with everything in English and the Americanized in an effort for wider appeal. Vietamese Cafe is that sort of place. The place was packed when I went. Oddly, there was not a SINGLE asian customer in the entire place!!! The service was polite and fast. The place is impeccably clean too. The menu is hit and miss. It's hard to tell if anything is authentic if it all reads in English, maybe a dish isn't Vietnamese if you can't see a Vietnamese name with it. We ordered spring rolls, lemon grass seafood and beef curry fried rice. The spring roll wrapper was pastey and waterlogged. The lemon grass seafood didn't have any lemon grass in it. Lemon grass is used for flavoring and is inedible, but I'm used to separating it out when I go to Thai places. Maybe the removed it after cooking, but honestly I think they didn't use any. It tasted like Sweet and Sour Seafood. The fried rice was mushy. I doubt they used a wok to cook it, it tasted microwaved. There was no "Wok Hei"... that smokey taste you get from a food cooked in a blast furnace heated wok. The Good: Popular place Good intro restaurant for Vietnamese inspired food (in the same way Taco Bell is a good intro to Mexican Food) Very Clean The Bad: The food isn't very good. I'd give this place one star, but it's clean, well run and I'm sure it appeals to people who aren't ready for authentic Vietnamese food. Food's good - and they have generous portions for take-out, as well. This is the first Vietnamese restaurant that I've ever visited, so I don't have much to compare it to. My bf is a fan of the cuisine and thinks this place is okay - he wishes there were more exotic and authentic items on the menu, which has been "dumbed down" for Americans (the owner admitted this to us). The atmosphere is okay - the women like to talk really loudly in the kitchen and that can be frustrating if you're trying to have a conversation. I went back tonight to this place which had been a favorite spot for takeout 4 or 5 years ago. I had moved so I wasn't as frequent a customer. I had a hankering for their food and we went back tonight and we're just as pleased as ever. The curry is good, the seafood is good, the rice is awesome, the soups are amazing including pho, and the noodle bowls are awesome too. They are so good and often so busy that you might do a little waiting but nothing too extreme. It is the only place in the North Area I would go to for pho these days. Love this place! My wife and I come in here at least once a week. The young lady who answers the phone knows us so well I just have to give my name and she know the order, 2 lemon grass beef, 2 egg roll (best I have had), and 1 wonton. This place was an amazing surprise. Tucked away in a grocery store strip mall, you wouldn't guess the authenticity, nor how delicious it would be. We had the special mixed appetizer and the egg rolls were incredible. I had a noodle bowl and my husband had a shrimp and chicken dish with very flavorful basil. Both were huge, fresh, and scrumptious. They only thing we didn't care for was the thai iced tea. It was just too sweet. All in all, a 5 star!! read more
