We had a fun day and we're ready to get a great dinner to finish off the day. I searched this place near by and went not knowing if we could walk-in. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly woman who asked us if we were a party they were expecting lol. We said we were just walk-ins. She said she'd check with the chef about food? lol strange? But came back and to our surprised seated us. There was a table for 6, table for 3 and our table of 2 available. We ordered straight out meals- Tortorlini à la vodka, and Gnocchi Pomo. The ambiance was so lovely, sweet and a real feeling of being in a restaurant in Capri Italy! Our waitress, the same who greeted us, was a hoot! She brought out our food and refilled our water glasses to the top! Loved it! Wow everything tasted fresh, delicious and so Italian!! The Gnocchi was soft, the sauce had a nice kick to it and the topping of cream was so flavorful, wished for more!! My mouth watering now as I type lol! The only bad thing was no bread basket to sop up all that good sauce! The tortolini was fresh tasting too. You could really taste the difference between dry tortolini and fresh kind! I don't fancy vodka sauce but must say this was good! This plate was also topped with that delicious dollop of cream . The price of pasta dishes compared to portions was on the higher end. It was just the pasta no vegetables or protein. Food was delicious but wouldn't come back as it's not in my budget. read more

A tale of two visits originally went in May and the food / drinks / appetizers / Entrées were amazing was super excited to bring friends and have been raving about this place for months. Fast-forward to this week and find out upon arrival they updated menu while back and never updated the website. Almost every one of the delicious items that we ordered in May were gone there was no chicken dish, and the prices of everything had gone up significantly. Burrata, Caesar salad, sangria very good. However fusilli with sweet sausage was actually hot / spicy sausage and didn't have much flavor. Tortellini was a huge disappointment. Shrimp dish was ok but really heavy noodles / pasta I actually didn't order an entree. Environment and ambience are nice but spending couple hundred dollars and not getting what we were so looking forward too was extremely disappointing. What an amazing meal....I highly, highly recommend. From antipasti to il dolce... it was spot on and beautifully crafted. We started with arancini and foccia, went to seafood chowder ravioli and fusilli with broccoli rabe and sausage. Dessert was gnocchi il dolce (with brown sugar and cinnamon) and cannoli. Red wine throughout and an amazing espresso martini to close out. Nina Vietri and staff did an amazing job. Highly, highly recommend. read more

My husband and I live around the corner but this was our first dinner here. Everything was wonderful. We both had a Caesar Salad - excellent. We could have shared one - we will know for next time. We had Seafood Ravioli and the Spaghetti with Shrimp. Both were delicious. We both enjoyed our entrees and paired it with wine. We also both had dessert and they were also delicious. We decided to try here two weeks ago and it didn't disappoint. Finally a real Italian restaurant in the area with authentic food. Ambiance was great to match the crowd and food. Went to celebrate my birthday with family & was very disappointed. I had seafood ravioli & it was so salty. No one at the table really was really impressed with anything. A plate of seafood ravioli was 36$ with no bread or even a small side salad. Took my dinner home, rinsed off the ravioli & used Raos. read more

My youngest daughter suggested we try this place, so my wife and I joined her and went here last Friday night at 8:30pm, it was the last reservation available. We are Italian and good food is high on our list of priorities. My entire family are excellent cooks and we rarely eat Italian food out for that reason. We were truly impressed! The atmosphere was amazing, a quaint home, very well appointed. It felt like we were eating at one of our own homes. The service was excellent, Jules, our server, was very attentive and made us feel like family. The food was absolutely FANTASTIC!! Each dish we ordered was a unique twist on Italian favorites we all make our selves, but with their own special touch. The owner stopped by our table to check on us and we could not find enough good words for everything. I am originally from Long Island New York where we were spoiled with many great restaurants. I must say, that after 65 years of eating and cooking Italian food, this was hands down, the best Italian restaurant I have ever experienced and that says a lot. The entire meal, service and ambionce was by far phenomenal!! We are blessed to still have both of my 91 year old parents still with us and we plan on bringing them here to share the experience. We would HIGHLY recommend trying this restaurant to all of our family and friends. Fortunately, it is only 15min from our home, so needless to say, we will be back here often. read more

Enjoyed a fabulous meal with three friends at Vietri's on Bohemia Avenue in Chesapeake City this week. The small storefront Italian eatery run by noted chef Nina Vietri is not yet fully open and is still getting on its legs and hitting its stride, but from this pre-opening experience, great things are in store for area diners. Just like the name-sake glazed ceramic place settings that adorn the tables, Vietri's aims to provide a unique quality dining experience over fast-paced mass market approach to meal time. The one page menu is small and does not offer something for every palate but the dishes it does offer are extremely well-executed in terms of taste and presentation. Our table started the evening with a shared Artisanal cheese plate complemented with jam, fruit, olives, nuts, and other little treats in a variety and quantity sufficient to pique the appetite of our group. Moving into the main meal, we sampled the "Sweet Gem" Caesar-style salad (chopped Romaine lettuce, capers, focaccia crisps, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. Other dishes tried included the Rosette Fungi (wild mushrooms and truffle in little pasta cups); Squid Ink Tonnarelli (blue prawns and Fresno peppers with spaghetti-like pasta in Arrabiata sauce); Ricotta Gnocchi (tiny gems of flavor in an almond pesto and pomodoro), and Eggplant Parmigiana which was presented layered and sauced in a lasagna-type style. Dessert was olive-oil cake topped with Strawberry Sorbet and chopped strawberries--a delicious and not overly-sweet treat. Each diner pronounced their meals something worth making a return trip for. The menu also offers a number of other dishes our group expressed an interest in trying on future visits--the Vitello (Veal) Milanese, for one--the Bronzino (Pesce de Mare) for another, to name but a few. The dishes offered at this time skew towards seafood, vegetable, and pasta-oriented plates. It is reasonable to expect the menu to change as the restaurant matures and as seasonal availability of ingredients changes. In terms of ambiance, the establishment is small. The experience is akin to eating at a friend's house. The service is friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. If there is a downside, it is the availability of beverages. There is currently no liquor license. Bottled water (still and sparkling) is available at a cost. There are other drinks offered, such as iced tea. Again, this should change as the restaurant matures and grows into its aspirations. When you visit Vietri's, do not expect an overflowing bowl of spaghetti and meatballs ala Olive Garden--you won't get that. But what you will get is a dining experience you won't forget, with a sufficiently filling meal full of flavor and with service reminiscent of sharing a meal in an authentic Italian home. This small but vibrant new establishment should prove a welcome contributor to the already humming Chesapeake City food scene. read more

Ah....no. I'd rather have gone to Olive Garden, and I hate Olive Garden. The short rib rigatoni was SALTY. No cheese was offered for my daughter's pasta with red sauce. In retrospect, my order of ricotta gnocchi was a bad choice, but it wasn't executed well either. It should have been served with a sauce to contrast salty cheese balls. The best thing about the meal was the San Pellegrino. We're throwing out our leftovers. The dishes were all poorly conceived, and I got the impression that the menu is too ambitious for the kitchen to handle. read more

We made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary, and I love Italian food. When we stepped in, there was a distinct smell of sewage, and I looked at my husband, like are we staying? After a few minutes, a hostess sat us, and the table was within a partial view of the kitchen and no smell there. The menu was a bit odd, so I ordered a Caesar salad which came out with shaved basil croutons (weird). We had the worst rigatoni (meat tasted wild) ever, and a saffron linguini with seafood that I didn't finish because it wasn't really good. No bread or oil for the table, so we ordered focaccia, which was the best thing we had all evening. I asked for cheese for to sprinkle on my pasta, and the waitress said "that will be $1.50" - really? Also, they offer bottle spring or sparkling water at $10 each. This was the WORST Italian restaurant we have ever been to, and we definitely will not go back! Do not waste your time or money on this one. read more
