My daughter treated me for early Mother's Day. This was my first time there and it was a great experience. Our server was wonderful. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time and it was freshly prepared. Everything I had was so delicious, I certainly have to go back to try some other things. My daughter and I started with a pitcher of red sangria which was the best I've ever had. Our food was Gambas Al Ajillo (sautéed shrimp), Ragut de Setas (sautéed mushrooms) and a board (I don't remember the name) which contained fried cheese, chicken strips, fried pork chunks, empanadas and more. Service was decent. Our Saturday night (July 26) waiter was polite and professional. Not sure of his name tbh. The bottle graveyard they keep is interesting lol. They have a lot of interesting-sounding offerings but today i kept it simple with the steak frites with chimichurri entree. It wasn't hot. For a nice clean, plain dish i didn't hate it. It wasn't a fabulous steak tho. But it was fine. Honestly for the price it was a good basic item i shouldn't really complain. The fries were seasoned well but the bland steak juice dripping onto them, of which there was a lot, was making them unpleasant. We stopped in here for lunch twice in the past several weeks. While located in a tired strip mall in a someone depressed section of Rte 2, the inside of this establishment was more upscale. While a bit dark inside, the people who work there are warm and welcoming. The menu is a list of small shareable plates (tapas) plus a few large entrees including paella Everything we ordered on both visits were tasty and we would reorder all of them The croquettes with ham and cheese and potato were our favorite and we ordered them on both visits Marinated anchovies were delicate and needed a side of bread which came out a bit late. Each time we ordered the dates stuffed with a Spanish blue cheese - once wrapped with bacon and in another occasion with almond The pan de yuca was described a a stuffed cheese bread. It was slightly sweet almost tart-like with a gooey mozzarella like cheese and topped with red pepper The empanadillas were made with green plantain stuffed with cheese and served warm with a herb sauce. The clams with beans were served with some rolls to sop of the juices and was a garlicky and brothy delight. The paella mixta was enough for four hungry people and was served with chicken, sausage (a not very spicy chorizo?) mussels, clams and salmon. This was tasty except for the salmon which seemed too oily a fish for paella and the chorizo needed a bit more of a fry. The seafood was cooked perfectly. On one visit we ordered the basque style cheesecake which was pleasantly dense and nicely charred on top. Service was good on both visits. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and enjoyed our meal. We ordered 5 tapas, one entree, and a seafood paella. The tapas were but ok but the standout was the octopus entree and the paella. The wine that was recommended to us was also very good and slightly chilled just how I like it! This place isn't exactly as kid-friendly as they only had one booster seat but our kids enjoyed the complimentary bread. Ole Tapas may have some very relaxed service, but it was warm and friendly on my recent visit with my niece and her husband. The tapas was good , but they need to bring back the "pan con tomate". The Jamon wrapped figs were so good and the yucca cheese bread was very tasty. Me and my nephew ordered off the Latino menu and I had arroz con pollo and he had the mofongo with carne Machado. My chicken and rice was very tasty (but also a bit oily... please adjust). The plantain mofongo was a delicious and generous portion. Our waiter (or maybe the owner) was super nice and very accommodating. Plus, for a festive Christmas lunch, the place was definitely decorated with in a nice way. The Pollo Moruno tapas was DELICIOUS. It is a Moorish-style chicken breast with chickpeas in a very flavorful cumin-yogurt sauce. The tapas size is larger than in Spain (adjusted for the American appetite, I was told). This is a hidden gem. Why isn't everyone in northern Delaware talking about this place? I love tapas. This is a new fascination of mine. And having a tapas restaurant this close could be dangerous especially because this place is GOOD. The service is top notch, and the menu options are plentiful. My husband, 8 year old son and I went for an early NYE dinner and it did not disappoint. We went with all tapas, no entrees or paella but would love to go back and try some of those other options. Also, I love the half moon booths, they are private and that type of seating always makes me happy!! My husband and I split a pitcher of white sangria and it was amazing, worth every penny. And also split a bottle of sparkling water (staple of any worth while restaurant). My son had the non alcoholic red sangria and he really enjoyed it, my husband and I both had a taste and liked it too! Quite refreshing and unique. For tapas we had the gazpacho (shared it), bravas (which are always a good choice) goat cheese balls (sorry I'm not gonna remember the Spanish names of most), the croquettes, the bedabil (beets with cheese), the chicken dish, mussels & a tapas special flank steak over fried plantains. I believe that's everything :p The goat cheese was my favorite dish. Gazpacho was good but a little too tomato forward for me. Mussels were very tasty in a nice red garlicky broth. The flank steak dish was amazing and my 8 year old went crazy over the chickpea/chicken dish. HE LOVED IT. So there was definitely something for everyone. I think my husband loved the flank steak special most of all. And the beets, though tasty, were our least favorite. For dessert we had churros and tres leches and both were excellent!!! I can't wait to go back. Needless to say, it wasn't a cheap meal because we went all out for the occasion. My husband and I took his parents to this restaurant for their anniversary. I for one, will NOT return. The food was salty, dry, and pricey. I ordered the grilled chicken. It was one over salted and fatty chicken thigh. My son ordered churrasco which we've made at home and have had at other restaurants. We know what it looks like. They gave him a gray-looking steak that was tough and looked curled up on the edges. It wasn't even the right shape. Who do they think they're fooling? Of course, I didn't want to spoil the moment by complaining, so I didn't. I don't mind paying for quality, but I feel like they took advantage of us. This place was average to above average for Tapas & Spanish food. I didn't have higher expectations. We had the following tapas: Spanish olives, some type of steak & onion sliders. These were delicious. Chrorizo with manchengo cheese in a light tomato sauce. This chorizo was too smoky for us. Then we had jamon & chicken croquettes. These we delicious. We then shared paella mixta. This was just an average paella, no more. We had margaritas and they were superb. For desert a tres leche cake that was the 2nd best I have had. read more

Came here for a lunch with friends while we were craving tapas. Phenomenal gem in the area, the food was great and the prices were fine. My favorite was the fried goat cheese balls, and the croquettes. Both were amazing, and I will definitely be bringing a group back to enjoy a night with wine and great food. Not to mention, the service was great, as the staff made us feel welcomed and helped us with recommendations (even though they could do no wrong). The inside was dark and it had a lovely ambiance. Located in strip mall off the highway and you think it will be blah inside, but WOW! What a suprise! It's like you've entered Aladdin's cave with such fun decor and a great ambiance! Our server was Guillermo and he was absolutely terrific. We love tapas and have had it other places (including well known high end tapas places headed by celebrity chefs) and the food at this restaurant was the equal of any we have had anywhere. We were here as a family but this would be a great place for a date night as it lends itself to an intimate atmosphere. If you appreciate tapas, or just want to give it a try, you have to try this place. This is a real jewel of a restaurant in Newark. Solid Tapas for being so close to the house. We love Tapas, especially Amada in Philly, but this is a great option for when we want to be close to home. The pitcher of Sangria is definitely worth the price, and way larger than a pitcher or carafe of Sangria almost anywhere and it tastes good. We've been a couple times so far, and we liked almost everything. The only thing that neither of us really cared for and wouldn't order again was the salted cod. It was just too salty for us, but it was fried incredibly well. The breading was perfectly crisp, just the fish was a little too salty. The bravas are our favorite dish to start with. All of the meats that we've tried have been very good, the garlicky shrimp, the steak with chimichurri, the lamb chops, and omg the crispy ham that was on top of the cheesy asparagus this past weekend was phenomenal! read more

I don't know if they have changed the chef but this place is not what it used to be. Even though It is pricy, i did not mind paying $$ because I used to think the food was worth it. I have not gone in two years and the food was just mediocre. The Shrimp were over cooked, the steak was dry, the bread tasted like those frozen buns you pop in the oven. I thought perhaps if I ordered dessert it would make things up and the apple bread pudding was bland. It was very disappointing as I used to think the food was amazing. Decided to try something new for dinner on a Friday night and had been meaning to try Ole for a while. It's nestled in a shopping center in Newark and easily overlooked, though their space is actually much bigger than it appears from the outside. The atmosphere is cozy, and our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Ordered the white seasonal sangria, which was citrus-y and refreshing, and were surprised with a yummy bruschetta sampler, compliments of the chef. We ordered a series of tapas including the gambos al ajillo, which are every bit as amazing as previous reviews suggest, and the montadito de costilla, which was a short-rib slider with a delicious manchego cheese puff on top. We also tried the Pan de Yucca, which was a unique texture that kind of reminded me of a savory mochi, and the grilled asparagus, which was delicious as well. This place fills my occasional craving for tapas. The food is really good, however, it would be nice if they changed the menu up more often. I have been here about 7 or 8 times over the past few years, but a lot of the food items are the same. The wine menu does change, and they offer wines not typically sold in stores. One fantastic item that remains constant is the pan de yucca. It is a warm bread filled with cheese. However, upon one visit they "ran out" (it was 7pm) and on another visit with a large group, we wanted 4 orders, and they only had 3 (at 530 pm, we were the ONLY ones in the restaurant). Our group also ordered a baked cheese appetizer for the table to share, which was also out at 5:30pm... If this item keeps running out, would you keep more in stock? And how do you run out of a food item upon opening? I can't say I've had a food item or a wine that I disliked here. But they need to learn to keep menu items in stock, and change up the menu more often. I feel with these changes I would eat and drink here more often. read more

We had such a great time here. The staff was outstanding and the food was even better. My husband and I spent several hours there taking our time with food and drinks and the staff didn't make us feel rushed at all. The environment is cozy and it wasn't too loud or too packed. All the tables have a lot of pace between each other which is something I appreciated. There were plenty of vegetarian and vegan options for me. I called ahead on a Friday night for a reservation and mentioned to them that my husband and I were celebrating our wedding... they brought out delicious heart shaped churros with chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
