Tiffany was our family counselor and she was absolutely amazing. Experienced, savvy, patient. We really needed that. The weekly virtual parent groups weren't just about commiserating, like so many other facilities who don't quite know how to help parents. They were informative and helpful, led by Jenn who is also wonderful. Elevations has a strong focus on the entire family, not just the kid and that's really the key. We aren't sending our kids away because they are "bad", the whole family system needs a reset and it is just as much the parents' responsibility to grow and change as it is our kids. Any parent who thinks their kid's behavior is solely their doing and problem is a big part of the problem. The parent retreats were WONDERFUL! I participated in every one of them. It's such a difficult decision to put your child in treatment and it is not an easy thing to go through. However, I want anyone reading this to know that there is hope on the other side of you ALL put in the work and if you have the right help. We found Elevations through an educational consultant, which I HIGHLY recommend getting. As parents, we're navigating blindly in a crisis state and need help. elevations rtc, like so many other treatment center across Utah and North Carolina, is a subsidiary…read moreof family health and wellness. if you make the mistake of sending your child to any of their programs, you will deeply regret it. they will keep your child there for as long as they possibly can especially now that enrollment is way down. they have cleansed their google reviews roughly once a month and now no longer even have them as an option. your child will leave severely traumatized from watching their peers attempt suicide, bleed out on the floor while staff watch, you get at MOST 15 minutes of sunlight a day, usually less depending on staffing, and it is not on your own terms. staff are favored based off of availability not actual benefits to the students. staff will get let go after multiple years of working here because their schedule is not as flexible as the untrained 20 year old who applied yesterday. there is no consideration put to the children, and they will strip you and your school district if money as long as they can (300k a year with an average minimum stay of roughly a year) as your child is force fed protein powder and given no opportunity for physical activity outside of the gym class run by an angry midget, camrie cook. eric flores is a slimy, soulless creature. jennifer wilde has been working at elevations since island view, and stayed through the death and abuse allegations. one of their most senior staff (i will not name out of respect) recently lost his children due to abuse charges. if you read this review and send your child here, there is a special place in hell waiting for you.

First I'll start off with, I was legally kidnapped and spent 16 hours in a van driving to this…read morefacility. Where I was threatened to be handcuffed to the car seat if I did not cooperate. Second off, this facility does NOT check belongings. At least when I went they sure didn't. I had over 100 razor blades in my belongings. They simply opened my suitcase, looked, and said "you're good". I had cut my leg open once. Needing stitches. I was then refused medical attention, I even gave my 1:1 sitter the razor blade and she scoffed and laughed at the wound. I only received medical attention and stitches after I cut my leg open a second time, even deeper this time. You'd think after doing this they'd search the room, belongings, everything, well they did. And did extremely poorly at that. I was so desperate to escape this facility I had swallowed 4 razor blades that they did not confiscated in order to leave. Mind you, I was still on a 1:1 sitter, meaning a staff member watched me swallow a razor blade. He didn't report it either until I went to nursing and told them I had swallowed razors. And even then they scoffed and chuckled at the idea. It's funny how they claim to accommodate disabilities, yet forced me to write as a communication method. I have mutism. I cannot speak. I was PROMISED I'd be allowed a communication device (a device I can text to speak on). When I arrived they took my speaking device away, and gave me a white board, that they would take anytime I "spoke poorly". Aka quite literally taking away my ability to communicate. They illegally denied my task trained service dog to come with me. Yet allow staff to bring their untrained pet dogs to this facility, who on my first day there, got in a huge fight in the middle of the corridors. I came out of this facility more traumatized, more "broken" than when I went in. I fully realized no one gives a fuck, and these people do anything in their power to get money by preying on families desperate for help. You will destroy your child by sending them here. I literally would rather of died, a horrific painful death. Then of spent another minute at this facility. I am absolutely disgusted this place has remained open for so long. If you are knowingly sending your child here, I PRAY they never have contact with you again. This place is so ungodly abusive it's not even funny.

Sure it's just a temporary home while they try to figure out where the best place to send you is, but the staff were all super kind and caring. I don't think there was one time when one of the staff wouldn't sit and join us in a game of Monopoly or try to help us out when we needed it. Don't get me wrong, they're not total push overs and the rules are enforced here but Aspen really worked with me and tried to make my stay seem less torturous compared to where I had been before. I remember my counselor, Lexi, she was amazing and I could not have felt anymore comfortable when talking to her, and I was able to send letters frequently between my parents and I. I'm not all for sending your child to boarding schools (it is traumatizing, but I also understand that sometimes it is necessary if the parent does not have the right tools to help their child anymore), but if you don't know what to do or what steps to take I would certainly recommend Aspen as a temporary placement. Your child will be confused and probably hurt but they will be talked through everything with the counselor, treated WELL by the staff, given privileges to play in the gym and outside, given opportunities to earn more games or playtime, and my main thing is that your child will just be treated well. It's hard for a kid to be sent away and Aspen makes them feel welcome. And I guess a huge point is that my counselor was able to find a terrific school to send me to that fit my parents budget. Ok! The center has a peaceful vibe, caring practitioners, and a community that is accepting and enjoyable to be around. I especially love the book club and the thoughtful conversations that come from hearing everyone's different perspectives. It's a space where people feel comfortable being themselves while learning and growing together.
