Dirks are sanity savers. Allow me to explain. My first experience with Dirks was as a renter. My landlord hired them for quarterly pest maintenance on the property, and I was always pleased with their professionalism. When I bought a house and started seeing creepy crawlies, I remembered Dirks and called them up. I've been using them for over a year now and have been very impressed by their customer service and knowledge. They are always timely and helpful, and they really make an effort to get out to solve problems (like this year's fly and bee infestations) as quickly as possible. They always tell me what I need to know ("Those are fake black widow spiders.") and never what I don't ("You could have been eaten alive by killer ants!"). Instead of spending $20+ on random cans of Raid and risking my safety and sanity when a problem pops up, I can call Dirks. That is more than worth it. I suggest you give them a try. read more

The exterminator tech who came the first time a year ago was friendly and professional. Last two weeks, I had two visits from Joe, who was a jerk. He did not want to set traps in spite of my seeing a mouse. He set a black triangle box in that bedroom. He set a glue trap in my bedroom and one in my living room. I had to ask him to bait them! I asked for snap traps and he did not set any. I then had him come back the next week specifically to set some snap traps in each room, which I prefer and he insisted that I do not have a mouse. I saw a mouse. Where it is now, I do not know. It may come back. He set snap traps and after he left I looked and none of them were baited. I called and complained about him. It is literally their job to set traps and I don't get the not using bait at all. 6/13/26 I never heard back from them. I would not recommend. read more

Similar to many reviews here, things took a sharp decline when Viking took over from Dirk's. Poor communication of when they would show up, wouldn't show up at previously scheduled times, and would cancel at the last minute. When attempting to reach out to customer service, nearly impossible to talk to anyone or get any response. When we attempted to schedule indoor services for ants, technician told us we were wrong and couldn't possibly have ants because it was winter. Charged twice for services that did not happen. When attempting to cancel service and have fraudulent charges removed, they made it difficult and they told us our account was deactivated, when we could in fact still access it and see pending charges. read more

The company was amazing as Master Touch but this company bought it and they're running it into the ground. The first appointment I waited four hours and the guy finally showed up 30 minutes past the scheduled window time. He banged into every wall and up the stairway with his ladder. Never installed the infrared detectors in the attic, sprayed our dog toys with the chemical spray, only sprayed one floor not the other 2. The second technician that came out he was wonderful, but the company originally tried to send him out to come into the house without scheduling it with me. We now have a technician coming out to pick up the equipment and I'm not home because they scheduled it without contacting me again. This company just doesn't know how to operate properly. How can you get into the customer's house if you don't schedule the time with the customer. I canceled our services and now have to find a new company to use. $450 and I caught the mouse that got in. We loved Dirks when we started with them. The employees were kind, and it was easy to get in contact if we needed to speak with someone or schedule an appointment. Everything went downhill when Viking took over. Whenever we had service we were always notified when someone would be over, because we would have the inside serviced as well. Unfortunately, when it was switched to Viking, we were never notified for services. There was miscommunication and it was extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone. In the beginning, we thought it was just an adjustment issue. The same issue of not notifying us of when we would get serviced would happen several times. At first they advised me it was because I was not set up with their online website. I did everything they asked, set up my phone number, email, etc. They still would come unannounced or send a message that they were coming and we would advise it was bad time and rescheduled for another day, but the tech would still come out on the day we were not available. Another thing that bothered us was they would move the service up a few weeks when they switched to Viking. We were on a schedule of every three months to get the house serviced, but they would have someone come and service us a few weeks ahead of time. We canceled Dirks/Viking because of their customer service. Whenever we would call, we couldn't get a hold of someone or when we did, they did not have the answers. Our call was always bumped to someone else. Dirks was a small business that we enjoyed using, once they joined Viking, it became more of a corporation that really didn't care for their customers and we felt like a number. We hope that Viking can take our feedback and make changes for their future customers. 9/28/21 update We did received contact from Viking after posting this review. They did correct the issue we had and closed our account. We are glad they responded to this review immediately and took responsibility. So , great technician. resolved my issue. Pests returned 60 days later but it was a holiday so i couldn't reach them. I called the next day and they honored the warranty. I made an appointment and the day of the appointment i took half day at work. My window of service was 2::00-6:00 around 3:15 the new technician called me and said he couldn't find my house. Worst customer service. Pay attention to the Oct 23 review below where the customer couldn't even get a call back to cancel their service. For us, they bought out our contract with Dirks without telling us and then disregarded the service Guarantee Dirks had. We started getting a mice issue and they came out and said it was a crawl space issue but they needed come back out...then crickets. We called, emailed, tried social media. No response. Then on Vet day we saw their post "honoring veterans" and my wife commented that was not true because of our experience. They took 2 days to reply to that, and then another 2 days to call. When they came out they told us not to remove the mice, to call them to remove it. When they came out a second time they left part of the mouse carcus on our basement floor. They just called us at 4pm before a holiday weekend and told us no one can come out till next week. That mouse carcus (health issue) is still on our basement floor and my family is at risk for health issues as a result. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from this company. read more

Dirks recently merged with Viking, which took me by surprise. However, I got the same level of service I have been used to. The technician came out and addressed my concerns, and was very respectful and courteous. Most of all, I was impressed with his knowledge. I met with a technician named Ryan who seems to be very knowledgeable but to the point of being condescending and arguing with me to make his point repeatedly in front of my house guest. What was described to me and explained was done in a misleading way about the services that were to be performed. As a result I called to speak with someone to go over exactly what should have been expected for the money I paid. I spoke with the Owner who was still, after 30 minutes, only interested in boosting about the reputable work her company does and her extra curricular volunteer work. I wasn't calling to question anyone's character, I called to talk only about the services I paid for. Dirk's was not interested in resolving this manner in any way. I contacted Dirks Pest Management for their help with the mice problem which just started in one wall of my house. The business responded to my request super quick, and everyone I spoke on the phone was so courteous and professional. Pest management specialist Sean came out to my house one day after my request, and inspected the house thoroughly. He set up secure temper proof traps in the basement, attic and outside of my house. Loved Dirks and since Viking merged, the service has been horrible. Was on the quarterly service and they never made an effort to come inside. As most of us during the pandemic work from home they routinely they come for quarterly visits and only treat the outside of the home and not knock or ring door bell. When I called, they said someone would call to reschedule an immediate visit to treat the home. This has happened the past 6 months and NO callbacks or visits. The today, I received a marketing call about a new priority service for existing customers for more money they will come out on a priority basis. I simply love getting wowed to death. If you are in the mood for "death by spectacular service", call these guys RIGHT NOW! I called them on Thursday to schedule to have someone come out and spray my house for carpenter bees. The person on the phone was knowledgeable, friendly, and simply, "easy." I set up my appointment for the next day, Friday, between 11am and 1pm. A Specialist named Sean Hannon showed up right on time. He was friendly, knowledgeable and explained everything. He even marveled just how "terrible my carpenter bee infestation was". Here we are 4 hours later and all the carpenter bees have bid adieu! Last Monday I walked out my front door as i was taking my dogs out and was confronted by a swarm of yellow jackets. I and one of my dogs were stung more than once. There was a huge swarm by my garage. We had to run to get away. I called Dirk's and 45 minutes later they were at my door. The technician was very professional and polite. He proceeded to educate me about yellow jackets and how he would proceed to fix my problem. He put on a bee suit and sprayed the nest. He said it was a larger nest than he expected. We live in an older home which was vacant for a year before we moved in so needless to say, there were spiders and house centipedes everywhere. Dirks Pest Mgmt came out and took care of the problem! First they were extremely nice and very professional. During the visit, they showed me where the pests were coming in and tips on how to prevent that in the future. They explained what they were doing and what chemicals they were using. We had the treatment done in July and its now the end of September and what a difference! I am giving Dirks a poor review for the following reason. We were treated for a bedbug infestation from July 12, 2019 to January 10, 2020 at cost of nearly $4,000 that included bedbug monitors, Active Guard chemically-treated fitted sheets placed under the box spring or mattress, and Nuvan mini strips. Dirks was unable to rid our home of these pests. We had our entire home heated to 120 degrees using 5 heaters at a cost of over $2,600, at least 9 chemical treatments and still found live bedbugs on February 2, less than one month after a chemical treatment of our home. Each technician claimed to not see any bedbugs except for one who found 2 live ones under our mattress. During this time period, we threw out 3 recliners, 1 loveseat recliner, a couch, numerous pillows, and an area rug since we would see live bedbugs days after treatment. After our August 13 treatment, bedbugs bit up my sister's legs starting about 4 days after treatment as she slept on our remaining recliner when she cat-sitted for us. After our Sept. 13 treatment, we had an additional free treatment since we had done everything Dirks required to warranty their work. They treated both our home and the garage. We had 3 additional chemical treatments on Nov. 8, Dec. 6, and Jan. 10. On Feb. 2, I discovered 2 live bedbugs on our mattress after removing the fitted bottom sheet. I called Dirks the following day, but they refused to believe me that we still had live bedbugs. We decided to contact another pest control company and had another heat treatment in the two bedrooms. This time the rooms were heated to 150 degrees, aluminum was placed on the floor since our home is built on a cement slab, fans were used to circulate the air, and our platform bed was taken apart. I was permitted to stay in our home since the two rooms could be isolated. It took nearly 5 hours to get the temperature up, move around the contents of drawers, throw rugs, and laundry to make sure that none of the bugs were able to hide and survive. We also had the house treated with Aprehend, a natural bio pesticide that is odorless and kills the bedbugs after they walk on the sprayed areas and bring it back to their nest. We will be having Aprehend treatments every three months. In total, we had to spend an additional $2,014 for another heat treatment of the 2 bedrooms as well as treatment with Aprehend throughout our home. I feel confident that we have now killed all of these critters but only time will tell. read more

I was sure I wasn't going to hear anything until Monday, but I got a call back within 10 minutes and they were at my house within 15 minutes of their call back! We had a serious problem with powder post beetles found in our brand new hardwood floors. Dirks identified the problem, provided multiple solutions and worked with me and the flooring company to develop the best solution for everyone which involved removing the existing hardwood floors, Dirks treating the underlying subfloor to kill any remaining beetles and larva and finally installing the new floor. It all took a lot of coordination between the flooring company the new home builder and Dirks made themselves available to fit the schedule as it evolved.
