Someone referred me to Viking, as I have a bunch of palm trees on my property, alongside other trees and I needed everything taken care of. I first of all got in touch with another company that a lot of people raved about - however they were useless and their quote was astronomical! So someone else suggested Viking Tree Service. Jacob, the owner, came out when I asked him to come (in fact he was early!), walked the property with me, when I asked about a couple of other trees, he told me NOT to do them right now as I would kill them, to wait till December, and then gave me an incredibly fair quote for the job. They came back three days later and did a beautiful job. Took them about 6 hours, but they cleaned everything away, and did exactly what I asked and a little more. My palms look great, but he cleared the trees away from my roof as I am tired of the animals playing tag on my roof whilst I try to sleep! Jacob is a really nice guy, and his guys did a really great job, and I was happy to pay that price. I will definitely have them come back in December to take care of everything else for me. Oh, and he asked the neighbours for their permission to go on to their roofs and garden areas, and they cleaned up all the debris from their properties too. read more

They killed my orange tree by over trimming. He told me it was easier for them to do it that way. This is a hack company. Beware!!

I have two deodar cedars probably 100' tall that were massively overgrown. I was recommended by a neighbor. This company did a wonderful job of clearing and raising them. They have an artistic eye. We've had Viking trim our trees for the past couple of years and today they removed a large Ficus that was too close to our home. The crew came in and was very fast, affiant and did an excellent job. They were respectful to us, our home, property and our neighbor's property as well. I always get a couple of quotes to be on the safe side, but Jacob always comes in at a great price. Some of these tree services over charge, you would be surprised at the drastic price difference in quotes. I defiantly recommend Viking for a reliable, no hassle tree service. I'm not easy to please. To me trust is earned and not given, and Viking has absolutely earned my trust. Dealing with an honest company that does what they say they are going to do and isn't trying to overcharge is always going to get a great review from me. It started out nice. Quick response, quick ball park figure : $1,400 for removal of large pine tree (incl stump). We agreed. The next day Jacob contacted us and doubled the quote. $2,800. He had sent someone to check the tree out in person and it was larger than they thought. After deliberating, we agreed upon $2,300 and set the date for today. This morning the crew showed up, machines, trucks, porter potties and all. He tells me they changed the price again. He now wants $6,000. I'm sorry, but seriously??? Excellent company! I hired them to trim two palm trees on the property at my home. They were excellent at their job and very professional. The price was reasonable. I spoke directly to Jacob who set up the work for me. I checked their CSLB license which is active and they are listed as fully Worker's Compensation insured and bonded. They were not the lowest bidder nor the highest but certainly the most desirable company in my view based on my vetting. And, I was right! I highly recommend these guys. Jacob's team is extremely hard working. They arrived promptly and worked efficiently for 2 days trimming numerous pine trees, cutting 2 dead ones down, as well as clearing our hillside shrub. They worked so tirelessly even with the summer heat. The team left my yard cleaner than it was even after all the cutting (and there were a lottt of pine needles!), cleared the branches that fell into the pool, and placed the string lights back how it was hung- wow, talk about attention to detail!!. Pricing was very fair. They exceeded my expectations beyond measures. Tip: Jacob's phone sometimes may not ring and go straight to voicemail. The number hasn't changed and it's still in service. He may be out of town so I'd recommend calling multiple times. read more

Viking was cutting large branches on large trees on a large commercial property---a shopping center---adjoining our our private-property home. The 5- person crew (1) had no supervisor onsite, (2) never told us they were going to be trimming, yet (3) dumped many large branches in our yard---most of which were thick and 15-20 feet long. (4) They destroyed 3 schleffleras and ad several azaleas by dumping a huge mountain of tree branches on our backyard plants. No crew members spoke English, and they kept saying "just workers." They did hundreds of dollars worth of damage. When I repeatedly called the Viking phone numbers on the side of their truck, to try to stop the damage to our property, no one answered. No supervisor was available anywhere---not by phone, and not in person. There could have been children in the backyard, where they used huge chainsaws and dumped the branches in our yard. They should be sued, and they should be out of business. read more

Unlike other places I reached out too they told me it would take a few days to survey the areas to get and exact price. They came out very fast the service was great and had no issues. Terrible customer service. My neighbor had service from this company and they destroyed my pool. Saw dust, tree stumps, branches and dust were all over my backyard . My pool had wood chips and it destroyed my pool filter. I have been trying to reach the owner and he's never around. Ridiculous read more

Terrible company. Last week my neighbor contracted them to trim an oak tree which was partially overlooking our garage. Once they had started, a few branches fell on my property and they asked permission to enter in order to clean up. Which I agreed to, not without mentioning that they had to be extremely careful with the roof and avoid walking on it or dropping anything on it. Less than 5 minutes after I left them in, they were conducting the work from my property. Many heavy branches were dropped on my ground and on my roof... They were carrying the branches out without any respect for my property: they did not push aside any object I had in the area, they didn't protect my fence which ended up being full of scratches, etc. I asked for a manager and he basically told me that I had no reason to complain because nothing was broken! This manager refused to give me his name and his business card... Totally unprofessional. All they had to do was ask and protect my belongings. Instead they decided to lie and give me some attitude. On top of that, I could not get my car out of my garage because they decided to use that spot to store all the branches before cutting them down. Needless to say without permission. I am still mulling over what I will do next. read more

Adrian was polite and came right out to bid the job, but when I had some specific questions, he said he had to talk to Jacob (who I've dealt with many times and even referred clients to). I see the results of their work at the Hastings Ranch shopping center (roughly Foothill & Sierra Madre Villa) in Pasadena. Really nice thinning of the trees rather than butchering. If I needed a tree trimmed nicely I'd certainly call them. No idea about the cost, of course, but they're doing a beautiful job. read more

A big 5-Stars to Viking Tree Service. I had a lot of trees that needed attention. One overrun with termites, two growing into and breaking up the roof, one obstructing any possible solar installation, and several other "junk trees" on the premises threatening to break up concrete with their overgrown roots. Jacob from Viking came out to look at the situation. He was a friendly, agreeable man. And very knowledgeable. (The man knows his trees!) We negotiated what I thought was a very reasonable price (lower than other bids I'd gotten). But though the price was discounted, the level of service and attention to detail was not. He and his crew arrived exactly on time, they completed every item on the contract, and threw in a couple of extras that happened to come up. They worked efficiently, coordinating their teamwork, but very conscientiously too! At one point, Jacob called me over to show me a small copper gas line that one of his crew had discovered, running very close to the root of the large tree they had just leveled to the ground. If they'd gone ahead and grinded it out using the stump grinder without checking that first, they would have broken the gas line. So that was a pretty good catch! Anyway, when they finished the job, they cleaned up all the debris and hauled it away. And at my request, they left me with a little firewood! The yard never looked so good. If you need any tree work done, I'd recommend them very highly. read more

We ordered a load of "free wood chips," which are supposed to be clean, not from diseased trees, and free of branches and junk. Viking arrived 4 hours late and dumped 5 times the amount we expected, which turned out to be mostly waste, rotted, moldy, stinking, and smoking. This was 3 days before Christmas, and they would not come back to help us deal with this horrible mess. Viking says they deliver "free wood chips," so as the final step of our lawn to garden conversion, we made the huge mistake of ordering what should be a great symbiotic service. We learned about "free wood chips" from the class we took at DWP, which emphasized the companies providing chips take care to provide only chips from clean healthy trees, no junk. Three days before Christmas, VIKING delivered 5 times the amount of chips we expected. As we began digging into the huge pile that took up our entire driveway, we realized more than half was junk - actual trash, bags of trash, empty cans of beer and other garbage, mixed in with huge branches, large stumps, and worst of the worst - rotted, molded branches! We called immediately - left 3 messages - no response from Viking. So that was Christmas. Had to cancel our family visiting to try to dig out from under this huges, stinking, smoking - really, neighbors came to ask if something was burning in our yard, then were horrified to see the gigantic mess. My dear husband who placed the order for the "free wood chips," felt so bad! He spent all daylight hours in the cold and wind, shoveling all usable chips onto the yard. We paid two helpers to spend two days shoveling and hauling all that was salvalgeable, and ended up with a giant stack of branches, stumps, and rocks, plus the giant pile - down to 10 feet long by 6 feet wide by 5 feet high of just horrible crud. So as I am writing, a very nice man and his helper are shoveling the mess into their truck to haul to the dump, for a reasonable cost to them of $200.00. (update - after shoveling for 90 minutes, they changed their mind and now want $500!!!!) What a NIGHTMARE!!!! We did reach Viking on the phone this morning, and they refused to pick up the mess. We asked them about their hauling service - their website says, "we haul everything," but they refused to pick it up even if we paid them! If you are looking for decent, clean wood chips, avoid this place. I will certainly avoid them for any work ever! read more
