Yamill came on time, spent time assessing the tree all around, not just from afar like the others. He gave me honest recommendations on his lack of evidence for disease process or pest invasion and made recommendations while saying the tree may not ultimately survive this period of high stress. He advised not to trim the tree mid summer while in this condition and gave me his card to call him in the winter when the tree is dormant to see what course of trimming action, if any, we can take once the tree is properly fed and watered over this period. Interestingly, I submitted this review to Yelp in January 2026 and it disappeared. The quality of communication within Natural Wonders Trees' departments, and from them to client, has unfortunately declined recently. I've hired them several times over the past few years. From 2022 through 2025, after a qualified arborist met with me to discuss tree trimming needs and to give me a quote, he'd stop by during and/or after the work was being done by the field crew, to assure both himself and me it was being done according to plan. Also from 2022 through 2025, the office would give me the name of the foreman who'd be coming to my home with the work crew, and the foreman would introduce himself to me on arrival so I'd know whom I could talk to if I had any concerns (especially since most of the work crew don't speak English), and the foreman would come and tell me when they were finished so we could look over the work together. When I had Natural Wonders trim several large trees in January 2026, 1) I never saw the arborist (Juan) after I'd accepted the quote, even though I emailed the office and asked if he could please stop by. 2) On neither day of the two days' work did any of the workers introduce himself to me, nor act like he was in charge. The only communication I received from the workmen was a random one of the workmen telling me 'we finish tomorrow' at quitting time on Tuesday, and 'we finish' on Wednesday. Appreciated, but I never knew who was foreman, nor whom I could speak English to. 3) When the work was extended into a second day, I received an email from the office saying that Juan (the arborist) and "#3" would be there the next day. Juan wasn't there, and the office let me know after the fact that 'Alex' had been the foreman; but I didn't have any idea which of the several workmen that day was Alex. 4) Since when Juan originally came by to give me the quote, he mentioned that they'd have to clean up in the yard of a neighbor whose yard my trees' branches hang over. So I'd touched base with her to let her know. When they quit at 4 pm on the Tuesday, they told her that they'd be by at 8 am the next day. But they actually did not have the next day scheduled yet. When the office emailed me later Tuesday afternoon, they told me the next team would be there about 1 pm on Wednesday. But meanwhile my neighbor was staying home to let them in since 8 am that day, and texted me at noon to let me know that they were no-shows. When I mentioned this to the team who showed up at my house on the Wednesday afternoon, they said "we didn't know our schedules yet." Okay, so the Tuesday team should NOT have given my neighbor such a specific time to expect them on Wednesday, if they didn't know their schedules yet! They could have said something like "we don't know tomorrow's schedule yet, but the office will email Stephanie later today, and you can check with her." If they didn't know enough English for that, they could have asked the foreman for help translating (the foremen are partially chosen for their skill in speaking English). Juan (the arborist) called me a few days after I originally submitted a Yelp review; they were (apparently) notified by Yelp of my concerns above (and my January review never appeared on Yelp). He thanked me profusely for sharing my concerns, and he expressed surprise that there had been a different foreman on each of the 2 days; he said the office should have notified him. He also emphasized that the office never let him know that I'd requested for him to stop by on the second day. So to be clear, my concern is NOT that Juan fell down on the job; my concern is that the office did not communicate well with me or with Juan, and the foremen did not communicate with me, and the Tuesday team gave misinformation to my neighbor. Have they gotten too busy to be able to give individual attention to good repeat clients? When the work affects not only the beauty of my home but the safety of myself and my neighbors, and is costing me several thousand dollars per service, I would really appreciate the office providing clearer communication with me and more careful oversight of the job, like they used to. read more

I hired these people to prune two large trees and remove a stump. In removing the stump, they cut the main water pipe to the house. They tried to patch it with electrical tape but, of course, that failed and they tried to convince me that the pipe was no longer leaking even though the water meter said otherwise. Finally, after I refused to pay them and after weeks of delay, they made an effective fix. I noticed during the pruning, that they had dropped a sizable branch on the patio roof and punched a hole in it. When I checked a couple of hours later, the branch had been removed. After I pointed this out, they bought a piece of roofing material, which unfortunately, did not match the existing roof. They then patched the hole and assured me that the patch would last for "years". After they finished the job, they left the piece of unused roofing in the backyard. Next, I also saw that a large branch was drooping down from about 15 feet to ground level, something that no other pruner had done. I also saw a large partially dead branch had fallen on the roof and entangled itself in power lines. When I called their office, I tried to persuade them to send someone out to correct the problems, but the lady answering the phone said it had been 1 1/2 years since the job was done. When I tried to convince her that they should stand behind their work, she hung up on me. read more

I have used Natural Wonders Tree's for several years after they were recommended by a certified arborist. Their professionalism is top-notch. Juan Bautista, one of the owners, is a certified arborist himself, and he has an app that he shows you when he gives an estimate so that you can agree on exactly where the pruning will be done. He wants the trees to be healthy. So even when I thought that one of my fig trees should be cut down by a third, he canceled against any new cuts because it could damage the tree. Even though he could have made money by doing it. Edgar, his crew chief, is a certified climber.That is reassuring when tree work can be dangerous. Their cleanup is immaculate. read more

Juan's team was excellent. I had two very tricky tree issues, and he and his crew helped me resolve both of them. He showed dedication and professionalism in managing his crew. Both he and his assistant Andy Carpio, both of whom are Certified Arborists, arrived in the morning to get the crew going. Juan stayed to supervise the tricky line clearance pruning operation, and then he left the remainder of the work in the capable hands of his foreman Edgar. My main issue was a pepper tree. It had two very heavy lateral limbs that were resting on the low-voltage telecommunications lines and putting significant pressure on the cables. Charter communications declined to perform any line clearance pruning. Other tree companies were not EHAP certified (Electrical Hazard Awareness Program), so I was left without many options. Thankfully, Juan and his crew had the necessary training to perform clearance pruning over the low-voltage lines. Juan's foreman Edgar personally performed the pruning from a bucket truck. Edgar demonstrated advanced skill and control with the chainsaw and the tree parts he was working with. He carefully pieced apart the limbs. Instead of letting the pieces drop, he lifted each one off. I appreciated his techniques of the 3-point cut, the snap cut, and the finish cut to minimize bark tearing. Where there were understory plants and other obstacles, he and his colleague Alfredo rigged and lowered the cut pieces in a controlled manner. I appreciated their intuitive awareness of wood strength and weight. My second issue was a large ~30" branch of a massive oak tree had settled over the years and was resting on my roof in 5 locations. I didn't want to remove the branch because of the aesthetics and shade it provided, but I obtained a City permit to make up to an 8" size cut, if necessary. Edgar carefully removed end weight bit by bit, and he periodically checked the branch weight applied to our roof. With a judicious dose of pruning, Edgar lifted the branch so that three of the contact points were eliminated, and the two remaining contact points were reduced to only about 50-100 lbs of pressure on the roof. In doing so, I was able to save the large limb over the roof, and Edgar didn't need to make any cuts larger than ~4 inches in diameter. I think that Edgar did a great job of balancing the objective of branch weight reduction with the desire to retain the large branch's benefits. I appreciated that the crew used battery-powered chainsaws, which were much quieter than gas-powered. They raked and cleaned up effectively, leaving my property clean. Their cuts on the oak tree are practically invisible, and the tree still maintains its spectacular 90-foot spread in its natural form. Although the pepper tree's line clearance pruning necessitated significant reductions from its crown, Juan's crew was careful to retain the shoots and branches lower on the tree to mask the larger cuts and retain as much of its aesthetic appearance as possible under the circumstances. Juan's crew removed the minimum amount of living foliage necessary to achieve the given objectives, leaving the trees looking good and healthy. Keep up the good work, Juan! You've got a good team. I got three estimates - like you do - for the pruning, crown reduction and shaping of some fruit trees and the removal of a stump. Natural Wonders sent Luis out to estimate the work. He recommended a crown reduction, shaping and thinning the trees by 25%. They were firmly in the middle price-wise and when I told them, they lowered the cost a bit. So far. so good. I made an appointment and Luis said he would be here to set up the job and clarify what needed to be done with the workers. He did not come. The crew arrived late and then took their lunch break so they got a late start which may have contributed to the feeling that they were in a hurry. There were some communication issues with the two brothers in charge of the crew doing the work. They really aggressively cut back the trees and didn't do the best job cleaning up after themselves. The lemon tree had been overhanging the roof for some time and they left all the decaying fruit, dead leaves and debris on the roof for me to clear away. When they were finished, but the crew was still here, I pointed out a lot of small suckers on the trunk and lower limbs of the orange tree. They looked a little irritated and angrily took a chain saw to the suckers, scarring the trunk and limbs. This was small work that needed a small hand pruner. It was like using a forklift to eat soup - the wrong tool for the job. I called the office after I finished cleaning up the roof and they said that Luis would come back out to talk to me about the work. He didn't return and I haven't heard back from them. There are a lot of great tree trimmers, many with arborists on staff. I recommend you use one of them. read more

Juan is fantastic, and will give you a reasonable price very low compared to other places. He also knows how to make the trees look great, and with fruit trees, he knows how to cut them so it isn't traumatic for the tree. I've had trees die because they were cut incorrectly. I sent in a message requesting the services of a certified arborist and received quick, friendly responses directing me to just the guy. We have a Canarian palm that's shedding a little too much for comfort, and in all the wrong places. While the arborist was also quite friendly and informative, we were told our tree is too tall (35ft or so) and they don't have the equipment to inspect it (I think he said a 'bucket truck'). Maybe I'm totally unfamiliar with how arborists operate... but aren't you supposed to look at trees, many of which are very tall? :( read more

I spoke with Guillermo this past Friday and had his team come out the next day. Edgar (Foreman) and 4 guys came out with heavy duty trucks and started immediately. I was very impressed as they were careful of other trees and fixtures such as the central heating and air unit adjacent to one of the trees. Edgar and his team were no nonsense...they setup proper street and sidewalk cones for safety and wore proper safety gear. They were very professional.
