We had several local businesses come out and bid and even though Tri-State was not the least expensive Roger knew what he was talking about and gave a fair price. The cheaper alternative would have required a lift that wouldn't have fit in the space, so I'm thinking the cheaper bid would have become more expensive when it came down to it. Anyway, Roger and his large crew showed up 15 minutes early, checked in with us, and got to work. They had one climber, who I watched move and check his ropes every time after he made a cut, and the rest of the guys kept busy cutting the sections on the ground and hauling the pieces out to their wood chipper. Roger even offered to get rid of some other junk branches (from the slow death period) that we'd put in the back yard. I am impressed with their attention to safety, work ethic, and end result. Because 11 of our 150+ year old oaks were topped 35 years ago by previous owners, we have extensive experience with tree services. In the past few years, we have had Craig and his crew from Evergreen Tree Service here several times, usually with their crane because of the size of the job. They are prompt, honest, hard working, extremely experienced and cleanup is excellent. Service: A few years ago, one of our giant oaks near the highway fell and just the crown of it closed both lanes of the highway. While the police were trying to get responders from VDOT, I called Evergreen to see if they could come out in the next week for an emergency. Within 20 minutes I saw Craig walking down the line of backed up cars with a chainsaw and a big smile. He had that crown cut up and the road unblocked in about 1/2 hour. Evergreen then rearranged their schedule to come back 2 days later to get the trunk and the rest of the crown which had trapped all but one of our cars in the driveway. While they might not be able to respond to everyone that quickly, know that if there is an emergency, they will try.
