Jamie did a wonderful job of coordinating my daughters rehearsal dinner and wedding this weekend, along with a full service team for food service, bar service and event set up. Food was fresh, delicious and portions were generous. With plans for an outdoor wedding, this venue is prepared for any weather and can quickly prepare for last minute changes. We opted for the outdoor tent. This area has a beautiful backdrop of the lake and vineyard with great lighting in the tent and nearby walking areas. Food and drink is served indoors with plenty of processional space. There is also a separate terrace below the tent for cocktail hour or special gatherings. I was in the mood for a country drive today, and with the beautiful weather, Villa Antonio Winery felt like the perfect destination. I've visited many times over the years and have even hosted a few celebrations here. The winery continues to evolve, and it impresses me every time I return. The food alone is worth the drive. I ordered the wood-fired sausage pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. I would put it up against pizza from any restaurant in St. Louis or on The Hill. The cheese blend was perfect, and the thin crust made it satisfying without feeling too heavy on a warm day. I highly recommend it. There was also a great live music duo playing, along with several special events that added to the festive atmosphere. I saw birthday celebrations, including a 70th birthday party at the Lakeside Pavilion, as well as a bridal shower and a wedding reception. Even with so much happening, the staff was friendly and attentive, and I didn't have a long wait for my food. There are plenty of unique spaces within the property. Some are for private events, but there was plenty of room open to the public so you could be right in the middle of the action or you could find a little peaceful corner by the grapevines. Villa Antonio is such a lovely place to spend an afternoon. It is well worth the short 35 minute drive from Webster Groves. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Villa Antonio for a company event. Our bartender was so fun and the staff was kind. We had some tasty snacks to start and a well made, filling lunch. This winery is very lovely allows you to bring in your own food. I'm posting to give them a failing grade on the Mother's Day Brunch. It was $40 and they ran out of food. I waited 30 minutes for a biscuit. Said quiche on menu none served. Very very sad. Many many unhappy people. Food that was there was marginal at best. read more

Went on Mother's Day. It took 40 minutes to get our food and when we went to get food we were told someone took it. They asked if we wanted their order which was chicken strips. We ordered a pizza. Only response was sorry we made mistakes. I talked with a manager briefly and I said a good solution is checking paid receipts before pickup since this wasn't a situation of someone accidentally picking up my order when they didn't order a pizza at all. Menu also said croissants on the chicken salad but they said sorry no croissants . She just said okay and we are busy. Not helpful read more

This is winery can be a great place to visit or hold an event. We did a birthday celebration on a Saturday and didn't have a reservation so it's first come first serve for the tables which are in large tents. Only 1 tent is air conditioned. The winery opens at 11:00am and we got there about 11:15 and had no problem claiming a few tables in the air conditioned tent. Though we were told no outside food or drink allowed everyone there brought outside food. We didn't weren't too happy about that. The other issue was the time it took to get wine and especially any food you ordered. Simple things like chicken strips and fries was taking almost an hour. They only had 2 people working to take orders wine or food. my biggest complaint is the length of time to get the food orders and the line for wine. Otherwise this place is great. There is a lot of room for kids to play and have fun. There was live entertainment that began at 1:00pm on Saturday and it was great. The entertainment was Scottie and he was great!! My family of 9 went on Saturday to celebrate birthdays. We called in advance on Friday and the man who answered must have been very busy because he was quite short with answers. When we showed up promptly at 11 am two huge bus loads of people were unloading. We hurried and got our place. Once we were seated and got our wines the table next to us (people from the bus) lit up a few joints and it stunk bad! There was elderly people sitting around and my husband has esophageal cancer and we were all breathing it in, for several hours. I went to tell the bar manager but he was knee deep with customers so I told a worker and he said he'd tell the bar manager. Well nothing came from it. I don't think it's legal to smoke pot freely in public places, but not 100% sure. All I know is the management was aware. If this is how this place is going then we won't go anymore. There's plenty of wineries in Jefferson county now. read more

This is a very beautiful venue for a wedding with a pond and gazebo and bridge, grassy hillsides, brick terrace, event pavilion. I'm sure the wedding photos will be stunning. It is however, as noted in other reviews, not easy to get to because of very winding and sometimes unpaved roads. The service was prompt and very pleasant. The food was very good, particularly the prime rib au jus. Four wines were available from the vineyard - a semi sweet white, a dry white, a rose and a dry red. The dry white was the best of them, but none were particularly to my taste. They were all on the sharp side. read more

Wrapping up a winery tour over the 4th of July weekend and heading in the direction of home, we made an impromptu stop at Villa Antonio Winery. Very impressed with the initial visual impact of the venue when we drove in... Going in we had a tasting, served by a very knowledgeable young woman (with longer dark hair, and sorry her name escapes me just now) Once she was aware of our wine preferences, she excelled at the story behind the wines we selected. The ambience and the choices of where to sit down and enjoy wine was excellent. Thank you Villa Antonio.... We will definitely return again soon. read more

I'm sad to say that I have to give a bad review on the Valentines dinner that we had there tonight we had to pay $60 per plate did not come with beer or wine and when I asked for a mixed drink all they had was rail liquor you talk about a huge turn off and no bottled beer food mostly came out cold everybody at the table complained and they were 12 of us it was five course meal Shrimp cocktail came out with three shrimp With two small pieces of bruschetta and these are like a tapas bar where everything comes out very small the tortellini came out very small amount starving at that point then we had a salad that was fresh lettuce but nobody cared for the dressing at all then after a two hour wait we got our main course prime rib and and six very small chunks of cold potatoes we're talking and it was less than a half inch cut and I had to send my wife's back when the manager came out and the waitress said it's overcooked he kind of gave us an annoyed look which really pissed me off because it was way over cooked the fruit and cheese came out for people to share so everybody had their fingers on it and you know this time of year everybody's sick you're not supposed to be sharing food had a halfway decent dessert sorry to say we won't be back It's a shame when you shell out 120 bucks and you leave they're hungry.. read more

Went there for mother's day and the place was completely packed. Food was great, we really loved the artichoke dip and the pizza. Service was alright. It seemed as though the kitchen was very backed up from orders and didn't know how to handle it well. Andrew did a great job helping people and checking bags and making sure trash was taken care of. He came to our table several times to clear away things we were done with. The place is beautiful. Would definitely go back on a less crowded day. read more

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Villa Antonio and we are so disappointed with the unprofessionalism and lack of coordination we received on the day of our wedding. We are both in our 40s, only had about 80 guests and most were family. The way our guests were treated is our #1 priority and I am appalled by the harassment they received throughout the night. I contacted Villa a few days after our wedding and have been ignored. Here is a list of some of the things that transpired: Our coordinator was not helpful and hard to find while our family was decorating the reception area. She also did not put the sand and vases out for our sand ceremony with our children; she asked "where is the sand" as I was lined up waiting to walk down the aisle, ultimately it had to be cut from our ceremony and it was something she knew was important to us. One of the speakers for the ceremony music was not working, we could barely hear the music and it was obviously not tested before the start of the ceremony. The bride and groom rooms were hot, the AC couldn't keep up. It was a hot day, and I understand that, but when asked about it, she rudely replied..."its an old cabin, nothing we can do". Maybe bring in some fans? Or water? As soon as the wedding party was done with pictures I was alerted that the bartender was being rude to our guests and already refusing to serve people. She accused several young adults that their IDs were fake and was questioning older guests about who they were going to give their drink to and even followed our guests around to ensure they didn't hand their drink to someone else! The bartender "carded" my 13 year old niece when she tried to order a soda! She said "I have to card everyone". Someone in their right mind would know that a 13 year old does not have an ID nor does she need one for a soda. She also cut my brother off after 3 drinks because she said he was slurring his words. (he was completely fine) When my sister-in-law tried to step in on his behalf the bartender was EXRTREMLY rude to her and said "we have been in business for 21 years, we don't need your kind of peoples business" and also made a rude comment about my sister-in-law's appearance. How unprofessional and not sure what she meant by "your kind of people". She disappeared several times throughout the night, had people standing waiting for drinks. She also turned her back to our guests when pouring liquor for the mixed drinks. Several commented that it didn't taste like alcohol was even in the drinks. The coordinator was very rude to a couple of guests who were sitting in the tent area and also to my sister-in-law who had our nephews out playing on the grassy area right outside the pavilion. She rudely said they couldn't be out there and had to stay in the pavilion. We paid extra to rent out the entire venue and close it to the public - but were held to one building. She even harassed guests for walking to their vehicles to get sunglasses. They have a contract with Orlando's catering so that was our only option on food. The food is mediocre and the staff was constantly clearing tables. They were continuously throwing everything away including pictures the guests had from the photo booth, scratch off lotto tickets we had for table favors and even our LED foam light wands that had our names and date on them. Our guests were actually going over and digging them back out of the trashcans!! It really just felt the staff didn't want us there and it was as if we were inconveniencing them. Its sad...we paid a lot of money to have our wedding at Villa and I will never step foot on their property again and I know our guests won't either! So yes, Ms. Bartender, you do need our business. read more

I'm pleased to say that once again we had an amazing Valentines Dinner. The ambiance was so nice. The wait staff was beyond friendly and attentive. It was a 5 course dinner for $65 per person, most upscale restaurants charge at least that for just the main course and your sides are priced separately. The food was Amazing! The courses were well very well proportioned and also timed so we didn't feel rushed therefore it gave us time to talk, laugh and enjoy a night out. Although alcohol wasn't included... what restaurant/establishment offers free alcohol with any meal??? That's completely unheard of... LOL. It was a tasteful white table cloth event for Valentines Day, not just your typical night/bar outing with friends. What a gem! While the drive off 55 highway and thru the rural area can be a bit exhausting (it seems like it's more than 5 miles away), it's completely worth it once you arrive. Along with their $5 tasting of 5 wines, you get a glass with your purchase. The venue is beautiful and clean, and the staff is very welcoming. Additionally, during the summer, they stay open until 10p on Friday, have live music, and half-off pizzas (yup, they have food)! Everyone wins! read more

Villa Antonio is an absolutely beautiful place. There are many spots to sit and sip wine. There is a gazebo, several large patios both covered and not covered and lots of green space near ponds and small lakes. The grounds are gorgeous. However, there are some big drawbacks. As noted by others, the roads are narrow and curvy. It is easy to miss turn offs and the signage is not very easy to see. The wine is ok. Some of it is better than others but in general we like it. But, what I see as the major concern and reason I'm giving this 2 stars is the service. First, you have to pay for a wine tasting. I know that is starting to become the custom and I get it if you have people who taste and don't buy but if you're going to buy a bottle, you should get to sample it for free. The winery is always busy on weekends so I'm guessing the stress has made the employees become not polite or customer friendly. On more than one occasion the people selling wine have not been friendly and really didn't want to answer questions about the wines or other items. Today my mom and I attended a get together there with a group of woman. One of the ladies sells ParkLane Jewelry and she brought her samples and catalogs and was showing them to the group. We were all at one table and for a beautiful Spring Sunday, they were not very busy at all. Plenty of open tables and space. Our group had purchased a bucket of beer and at least 6 bottles of wine. But about an hour into our visit, after numerous workers had passed our table, one came by and said the jewelry had to be put away because they didn't allow people to sell things there. Umm? Why? What difference does it make? It's not like the woman was selling wine or food? Who cares that she's selling jewelry? We were not bothering anyone or taking up more space than if the jewelry hadn't been there. It was strange. Plus Janie (the Jewelry lady) said she been to Villa 5 other times for people having jewelry parties and had never had a problem. On top of all that, the people at the wine counter were rude. I couldn't remember if we like one bottle better than this other. I asked to taste one of them to make sure that was our favorite. I was told I'd have to pay $5 for a sample. What??? $5 for a swig of wine? And if I wAnted to pay for that sample then I'd have to go to another place in the winery to do that. Again, why? the set up makes no sense. Villa used to be the only winery in the area and I guess they could get away with treating people badly but now there are several other wineries close by (which may be why they were not busy today) including La Chance and Wild Sun. We had our wedding here last weekend and despite a lot of setbacks due to other vendors (not affiliated with Villa Antonio) our coordinator was able to help us keep things moving and stay close to our timeline, which was great. The venue is beautiful. Brooke, the office manager is super nice and easy to work with. We had one small issue that the owner quickly responded to and resolved to our satisfaction. We would absolutely recommend this venue for both a fun day at the winery or a stunning wedding. read more

The Villa Antonia Winery is a gem. Large space with several different areas and a staff that is willing to keep you happy. We went on a perfect sunday afternoon and there were over 300 people there, but it wasn't crowded. Also had live music. Cute pond with dock and island. Lots of vines. Most importantly, they didn't rob us. Wine was $13-20 a bottle and italian food was tastey and affordable too. It's about a 40 minute drive from the heart of St. Louis. read more

If you have an out of state ID, I don't recommend visiting. My friend and I were turned away because their 1 star MO ID scanner app "Show-Me ID" wasn't able to scan my out of state FL ID. The manager, Kristi, was very rude and said that she was not able to serve us because the app wouldn't scan my ID and there was no other way for her to verify it was real. This is ridiculous given I am over 21 and work at a bar myself. Train your staff on how to check IDs. read more

Therefore I LOVE going to places that I can... a) drink wine b) drink wine outside in an open space with a beautiful view by a lake c) drink wine and eat my own snacks from my picnic basket d) drink wine and listen to live music e) drink wine while playing Frisbee f) drink wine while trying to fly a kite If you like all of the above then Villa Antonio winery is an excellent place for you to visit. Being less than an hour away from downtown STL makes it one of the closest wineries. The service was excellent, the wine was great, and the day was perfect. Additional perks are they still allow you to bring your own food and waters, they serve a decent selection of beers, and there is plenty of space including 2 open fields perfect for playing a game of catch, flying a kite, or bringing the kids and letting them play while mom and dad enjoy some adult bevs. It is laid back here and anything goes for the most part, and that is how it should be. Be sure to get there before 12:30pm if you have a large group or there may not be a table available. Going to a winery in October is what my friend and I do for our birthdays every year and this was by far the best winery birthday celebration. We loved it so much they had to come kick us out when they closed because we didn't want to leave. Other wineries need to take note and bring back the way a day at the winery outta be! They had private parties and also a wedding was fixin' to take place. matt pratt was on the acoustic guitar and was fabulous. He was singing everything from country to rock...We really enjoyed him. Got some delicious Italian sammies 10.00 and this would feed 2-4 people....bucket of 6 beers is 20.00 and the chardonal barrel oaked edition was really good. This place is really busy and making money so they lack some of the extra attention i have gotten at other wineries....the grounds also could be nicer. They have plastic tables and chairs not wrought iron and no umbrellas for shade or water elements... Yes it is out in the middle of rolling hills and pretty and all but it doesn't take much to jack it up.....just sayin' read more

My second visit to Villa Antonio was today and I had a nice time. $5 gets you a wine glass that you can keep and five wines to taste. Tastings took place outside and the tasting attendant offered to guide us through a tasting unless we knew what we wanted. We knew we wanted sweet wines and tried three. I left without buying a bottle, but I did enjoy a nice stroll around the large patio, and am looking forward to coming back soon. read more

I booked my husband's 65th surprise party here. First off ... their website is somewhat deceiving.. I you book a third of a tent you only get 1/3 of 1/2 of a tent. You could be, as we were, sandwiched between two other parties. Each group of 50 people were expected to be in this small area!!! 8 long table set in two skinny rows. All the while the other half of the tent was open seating for anyone coming to the winery. They had comfortable round tables and lots of room. The person that took our reservation was very rude, not friendly or helpful at all. Acted like there was NO WAY we could change anything even inside our tiny little space. Over all Villa Antonio is a very pretty place. But DO NOT book a party for 50 there. You will be very cramped .... read more

I got married here and this place is great. The patio is gorgeous with the vines above your head. The rows and rows of vines. The whole property is beautiful. And the food is wonderful. Great toasted ravs and cheese bread. Like, addicting cheese bread. Like you will eat all of it no matter what you tell yourself. Wedding coordinator, Donna brought me some the day we booked the place and the day we chatted a week before my wedding when I was crying because it was supposed to rain. They do a really really great job. It's a fabulous place for a wedding and just to eat or drink. Anyone getting married living within reasonable distance of this place should consider it. They are above and beyond and I can never thank them enough for helping me make my wedding everything I wanted it to be and more! read more

We went to this winery for the first time today for a wedding party and were sadly disappointed. The winery itself is gorgeous, just not so much those who work there. We were sitting inside where the party had space rented (which after chatting with the person who put together this party ..she will also be leaving a review because she had a tough time with the staff too) It was a hotter day and SO hot inside..so when we went to buy another bottle we simply asked the blonde woman working in the wine kiosk area outside, if they could open the garage doors...I told her my mom had MS and was really over heated ..The woman was SO rude the entire time first of all and told us why they couldn't but in such a rude way that we were all stunned. I completely understand the reasoning, but we did NOT deserve to be treated that way at all. She basically rolled her eyes at us ...and then asked where our bucket was, which we left on the table and instead of asking if we wanted to get it, gave us the snottiest look, then goes "ok well I'll just charge you for another!" I work in the service industry and this woman seriously should NOT. We did not get any more wine after that service and when we mentioned it to others around us everyone was saying the same thing about the service. We will definitely never return Because business is tough these days and we'd rather give it to wineries who appreciate it. I'd highly suggest taking a look at the staff who is working directly with the customers. She was prob around 40-50s blonde and was working in the outdoor area where you purchase wine. The best thing that Villa Antonio has going for it is that it's closer to the metro area than most wineries. Just an exit or two past Kimmswick and you are there. Also, the grounds are very pretty with a large hill and a lake. Finally, they do sell buckets of beer if you have non-wine drinkers in your party, which some would consider a plus. I'm surrounded by winos, so that's not a big sell point for me. Now for the not so good. Unfortunately, the wine isn't great. We tried two bottles of the Norton and it just tasted sour. I haven't met too many dry reds that I don't like, but this was one of them. Also, they need help on the music situation. Rumor had it there was a one-man-band performing, but you couldn't hear anything but some bass, so you must have had to be directly in front of him to hear it. Music and alcohol just naturally go together to make for a good time. I wish they would spend more resources on that. Finally, if you want a seat, get there early. Luckily, we did...but many people who came later were left sitting on the hill rather than the tables and chairs provided. Overall, location and scenery are the best qualities of this winery. If you are a wine connoisseur, you will likely be disappointed. read more

There are several things to note about Villa Antonio: 1) The roads there are ridiculously curvy so if you plan on drinking wine (hmm imagine that) please have a DD because you don't want to be a casualty. 2) There is not much selection to choose from. I was disappointed. 3) It is great for groups, not so much if you want a small table for your friend or sig other. 4) It really is out there and if you don't pay attention, you will miss the signs leading the way. 5) Going back to #1, if you chose to have a wedding there, you need to have a shuttle driver going back and forth because of those roads. Being wine enthusiasts we decided to try somewhere else for a change and headed out to VA. The grounds have gorgeous views and we were eager until we saw that they didn't have much of a selection. The prices were way higher than we are use to like when we go out to the Augusta area wineries. They had live music, which is always nice when you're enjoying spirits. If you're around the Hillsboro area, then I would say yes, do check it out. But because I'm in the middle so to speak, I may just stick with my other wineries by personal choice. read more
