Drove 45 minutes to check this place out and see Rob Boyle. So glad we did! Great atmosphere, service, food, drinks and entertainment. Can't wait to return!

Cute little place for drinks and bar food..

Cute place for drinks with friends and bar food. Love this place. They make you feel like home. They do provide a lot of live music in the back. Stacie is awesome and makes really great drinks. She is very knowledgeable about the area.

Wine Slushies!

A must stop when in downtown Waterloo. A great rustic bar with a unique interior and back patio. We ordered drinks at the inside bar and went straight outside where there was live music on a Sunday afternoon. Great variety of wine and beer as well as a few speciality cocktails offered. There's definitely something for everybody! We chose Wine Slushies and would definitely recommend at least getting one, if not two! They were offering pizzas only when we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. However a menu we saw on the bar saw other items such as small plates/appetizers - not sure when/if those items are available. Pizzas descriptions looked good however we just stopped in for drinks. Unique bar that you should definitely make a stop next time you're in Waterloo. If nothing else, walk thru to see the rustic and unique architecture.

First off don't go by the name. This place is more than a wine bar. It's good food. Amazing Old Fashions made by Fern and a great place to relax and hear the bands or chill with friends. The appetizers were all amazing.

If you did not hear the story of this place, you would not believe that this bar was not original. The floor, ceiling and beams were rescued from three barns in Kentucky. The owners and their families spent the last year of their lives pouring themselves into the Vintage Wine Bar. It just opened, but I did not feel any kinks of newness. The wine menu was nice and they had some specialty drinks (mimosa, etc.) plus beer. They will be having live music and adding food. The back has a beautiful seating area with firepits. Stop in now and come back often.

Tonight's menu, but changes frequently.

The toasted ravioli were the worst of my life which is so confusing like how is it possible to make fried food taste bad? I've had better from the freezer isle. My sister ordered the Mediterranean flatbread and it was weird. Didn't seem to truly be Mediterranean inspired and everyone who tried it disliked it. This place used to be packed and it was mostly empty. The strawberry sangria was SO watered down. I had 3 and didn't feel like I consumed any alcohol & certainly couldn't taste any. It was like watered down strawberry juice. The employees were nice, but they don't check on you at the table. You have to bring your cups and dishes back to the bar when you're done. I just don't know if this place will survive if they don't make some huge changes. My family and I used to love coming here, but the ambiance, food and drink offerings, and service is poor. Breaks my heart to see this place go downhill.

We shared appetizers and enjoyed the music. The waitstaff and barstaff were extremely friendly, as were the other patrons. Spouse and I stopped in one night for the first time after we finished a murder mystery event…read morethinking we could get some late night bar food and a drink or two. We got seated at a tiny table right by the door which was very drafty. After getting menus, we were told they could only make us pizza (pepperoni or cheese) and maybe 1 or 2 types of finger foods. It was somewhere between 9-9:30pm so it seemed early in our opinion for the kitchen to be closed already on a Friday night, but nothing we could do to change it. If I recall the appetizer options were mozzarella sticks or toasted ravioli, but not 100% certain on that part cause it didn't appeal to us. We ordered the cheese pizza since I don't eat pork products. It was very thin with a cardboard like crust that was overly cooked on the edges (see pic with brunt crust), but the middle part was full of gooey cheese. The balance on the pizza was just off since it was overcooked on outer edges. We were starving and our options were slim so we ate it anyways. Lol The waitress offered us some complimentary popcorn from a machine in the back of the bar and then went over the speciality drink menu they had which was probably the best part of our entire experience. They do have some very eccentric libations to choose from. I chose the lavender martini (very tasty) and my spouse got a blackberry old fashioned which he also loved. The ambiance is just okay if singing karaoke completely off key with country folks is your thing. They do have some televisions for sports viewing, but this is not what I would call a "speak easy" or a sports bar. We love doing karaoke, but the vibe at this place just wasn't working for us. Overall, I would say the drink menu is what's keeping this place afloat unless people don't care about the food they eat or the company they surround themselves with. Would try again, but with a larger group of people ready to take over the karaoke scene in full force and during earlier hours so we can attempt to get some bar food too other than pizza. Also, we were coming from the murder mystery event so we were dressed up more than anyone else in the place and we felt like outsiders. This is definitely a Jean and T-shirt kind of establishment.

It was decently busy for a Wednesday night but there was plenty of bar seating. The decor is beautiful and I especially appreciated their carefully curated glass and tableware--all stunning. We tried the Hefe Weissbier (my favorite, which paired perfectly with both appetizers), the Meteor Pils, and the Gaffel Kolsch. I'd recommend all of them if you're a beer drinker! The spinach dumplings are a must. They are bursting with spinach flavor and swimming in a rich brown butter sauce. We also tried the alpine dip, which comes with an enormous soft pretzel. It was okay, but the dip wasn't exactly what we were expecting. I'd probably pass on the alpine dip next time. Overall an amazing experience and I look forward to enjoying a full meal there next visit.
