Met some friends and came for the music as they know Rob who was playing. Great weather, great music(great job Rob!), great seating options. The music was a little loud under the pavilion but we sat just outside of it. Lovely place, my only complaint is the wine is a bit overpriced, and they seemed to have forgotten to make our friend's pizza and didn't apologize or anything, just said they were working on it. I have loved Wild Sun for years!! Been going there since 2019. Love the winemakers, wine and ambience. Excellent service. But sadly, had a rough visit recently. Some miscommunication (or lack there of) on a wine club event. Stayed anyway and ordered my usual. Gluten free pizza. I Iove it! Crispy and delicious. But this time, it was undercooked. Not crispy. Seemed to be a different recipe. ?? Venue states no outside beverages including water. I abide every time to support the winery. However, every table on the deck had brought their own water and outside beverages along with their own food. (Food is ok to bring). Upper deck states no smoking. Great!! However , people smoked for the entire visit on the patio below. Horrible smoke wafted up the entire afternoon. Ruined the ambience and made me sick. It was 97 degrees so to stand in a long line to get the wine glass deposit back was frustrating. Nice glasses, by I have plenty. Very difficult to hear the man performing. I know there are rules on sound levels, but between all the parties happening, the crowd noise drowned out the music. It's an hour drive for me so I was disappointed on this trip. But I have written other good reviews about them as I love Mark and Rodney and think it's an awesome place and best wine in the state. Go. You will love the venue and wine! First time at this winery. The grounds and the building are beautiful. If you're looking for a wedding reception venue, this would probably be a gorgeous place to hold it. We didn't do the wine tasting; we were a little disappointed that the tastings were not free. You get 4 tastings for $10. Kind of steep if you ask me (but I'm kinda cheap). We found the bottles of wine to also be pricier than other wineries we've gone to in Illinois and St. Charles. We settled on a bottle of semi dry, taking a gamble we'd like it. The bottle was $27, but the total came to $43+ with a bucket of ice. This surprised us, and it was then they told us there is a $5 per glass deposit, refunded to you in cash if you choose not to keep the glasses. I didn't see any sign about this (I may have missed it), so it was a surprise. I haven't paid a deposit for a glass in years at other places. The glasses were admittedly pretty darn nice, so as I write this, I'm not sure if we'll take them with us or get our deposit back. The wine was terrific. It matched the description on the menu, and we drank the whole thing with no problem. Burp. I deducted a star for the price of everything (again, I'm a little frugal, so take this with a grain of salt). Overall- great outdoor venue, expensive but nice glasses, good but pricey wine. Lots of places to sit, easy to get too. Nice area with occasionally a band especially on the weekends. Food was very good had the pesto cheese bread which was excellent and the pretzels with beer cheese sauce with a hint of jalapeño. Now the wine a bit disappointing, mainly the cost had their $36 of Chardonnay Reserve from California grapes and was not as good as a $10 bottle of Hess Chardonnay. Wild Sun Winery has a great selection of wines. We did a wine tasting with Mark who was friendly and knowledge about the wine selection. The tasting is 4 samples for $10 and takes place inside in the enter-way of the house. My two favorites were the Radiance which was similar to a Sauvignon Blanc and the Chardonel Reserve. There is a beautiful deck and back patio where they play live music on the weekends during the summer. They have some food you can purchase from walk up windows on the deck but you can also bring your own food. Overall, Wild Sun has great wine and a beautiful space to enjoy it. read more

We visited Wild Sun this past Saturday and enjoyed an afternoon in the shade listening to a great band and drinking great wine. Due to COVID, no wine tastings are being offered (which I look forward to coming back for). Two windows on the back deck were open for order taking: food, beer, and wine. Social distancing is being practiced, employees are wearing masks, and there is plenty of room on the property to spread out. (I suggest bringing your own chairs so you can spread out on the lawn, as there is limited space on the patio and deck.) We ordered a bottle of White Dawn, which is their Reisling, and we brought in our own snacks. The wine was excellent! We had a great time and look forward to going back. read more

Great place to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I am a pretty basic wine drinker so I stick with the chaos white, it's very sweet similar to a moscato. They have a pretty big selection for a winery and bottles of wine range from $22-$50 and for an extra $3 bucks you can get a bucket of ice that they will keep refilling all day. A wine glass costs $5 but if you don't want to keep it you can return it at the end of the day. They also brew their own beer and sell by the can and draft. Beautiful! Probably one of my favorite MO wineries! As you walk to the main house, you feel like you are entering a palatial estate. I think it is the large, main house that you walk into that begins the feel of a different type of winery setting then other MO wineries. The house gives more of a cozy and welcoming feel. As soon as you walk in, the tasting room is to the left and a private party room to the right. My only complaint is the tasting room. First, It is located literally right as you walk into the door and is small, crowded and impedes the flow of traffic for those entering the building and makes tasting a bit stressful and cramped. A tasting is $5. You are given five wooden chips and one pour of your choice per chip. The pours were a bit stingy. The positive is that you most likely wont spend much time in the tasting room. You will most likely sample several wines, figure out the ones you like and head outside to purchase a bottle or two or three! Yes, their wine is pretty good! I enjoyed several - white: Radiance and Chardonel Reserve. Red: Cabernet Franc. The bottles and food are purchased on the patio outside. They have two windows to order and you give them your phone number and they text you when your food is ready. Bottles of wine and food are reasonably priced. Outside food is also allowed. No wine glass? No problem - pay a $5 deposit for a wine glass and it's up to you to take it home or turn it in for your money back. I liked this concept! I turned mine in for my deposit back because I did not need to add another wine glass to my collection! Wild Sun also has some delicious beer! Same concept with the beer glass. They have two sizes and you can pay a deposit and keep the glass or turn back in for your money. I was impressed - a winery that also does good beer! They offer a red and blonde ale and a porter. I usually don't like red ales, but several people recommended it, so I gave it a try and....WOW! The best red ale I have ever tasted! Creamy, smooth, balanced! Next time I will try the blonde and porter. What is the BEST part about Wild Sun you ask? The outdoor spaces!! Wow! Beautiful property! I love that they have plenty of seating, but the seating is broken up to smaller, divided areas so it doesn't feel crowded even though there were A LOT of people their on this beautiful Sunday. The divided spaces give more of a cozy, private feel. They also had a large covered pavilion for private parties. I am guessing you reserve this spot? The band was perfectly located in the center of all the outdoor seating and you could hear them very well no matter where you sat, but not too loud...perfect! You can also go further away from the outdoor seating and find a more private space on the lawn or by the lake. This winery is gorgeous and perfect in almost every way! The cherry on top? Came here after one of my patients told me about it. The drive to wild sun from stl is a beautiful one. There was plenty of seating (shaded, and non shaded), a band, and food. It was just my cousin and I but we ordered two bottles of wine. (Radiance, which is like a Pinot Grigio, and chaos white, similar to a moscato). Wine glasses are 5$ each, you can bring the glass back up and they will give you your 5$ back. But we decided to take the merch. They were out of cheese and sausage boxes but we could order a block of cheese, salami, and crackers separately, Which is what we did. Smoked Gouda, salami, and the wafer crackers were a perfect pairing with the wine. Staff was very friendly and informative when we were trying to select wines. Will be back! read more

This is a cute place that does offer some decent wine. They did a great job revamping the house although most people don't see much of it unless you visit in winter. They have ample outdoor seating with a large covered pavilion. You can bring chairs and sit out on lawn too. Check the FB or website for music. One issue they need to resolve is their bathroom. There is 1 inside the house and when you have that many people drinking wine ....... As far as the wines they offer a good dry white and cab. The cab is pricey though so be warned. Went here over the weekend for a bridal shower. The shower hosts brought in food, so I didn't have food from the venue. Im also not a wine drinker, but guests at the party were all loving the chaos red and chaos white- very popular! They had a live band that was good and played a wide variety of music spanning from the 70s to 00s. It was a very nice touch. They have 3 decks to sit on plus a huge covered pavilion for parties. The grounds were beautiful and the setup was nice. I'd highly recommend it if you are in to wineries! read more

Wild Sun was a delight! We went over Memorial Day weekend to hang out for the day. It was a 40 minute drive from STL city with no traffic, and a beautiful day out. What I loved about Wild Sun was the copious seating and beautiful views of greenery. It was also pretty busy, but still felt spacious! They had a live band, which added a fun beat to the environment. My second favorite part was the very affordable wine tasting! 5 dollars for 5 tastes, which was a great amount for me. They were very knowledgeable about Missouri wine, which was fun to learn about. We also bought some bottles for our group to split. Being that it was summer, I enjoyed the whites more, but the reds were good too. Only one rose, but it was nice, with strawberry tones. They had a wide enough variety that friends who liked both sweet and dry were happy. You can bring your own food, and they also have food there for those who want it. Lots of yummy pizzas and flat breads to order, from what I saw - I didn't order any. Will be back sometime! read more

I really like this place. It's the second time I've been. I love that it's small so it feels intimate but the land is big and there is a great view. Everyone that works here is very nice and welcoming. They have the absolute BEST bathrooms I have seen anywhere! They are quite luxurious and very clean! I enjoyed the Red Dusk and the Chaos Red, I would however choose something more dry on my next visit as these were too sweet for me. I'm glad to see since my first visit about 2 years ago, they have expanded seating and moved the live music further back so my group was easily able to hold a conversation. read more

It's a beautiful Saturday. Labor Day weekend. We got here just as they were opening, but it's already filling up. We did the tasting and settled on the Ravage red. We're sitting on the patio waiting for our food and enjoying the sound of the fountain. What took us so long to get here?! We ordered the burger and the spinach and bacon pizza. The burger was really good. Better than expected! The pizza could have been cooked a few minutes longer to crisp up the crust, but we ate the whole thing so can't really complain. I usually like to pay under $10 a bottle, so to buy a bottle for $20 and be ok with it...well, I guess this place deserves 5 stars. Plenty of seating. Multiple patios. Or bring your own chairs or blankets. Bring your own food or order theirs. They have beer for people who don't like wine. I'd love to come back with a group of friends and hang out all day. Spent the day here celebrating a friends 40th Birthday! The food was ok. I got a pepperoni pizza and it was just alright. The cheese and crackers are prepackaged and were of high quality and were pretty tasty. We did a wine tasting for $5 which gets you five samples. They charge a $5 deposit for your wine glass which is reimbursed if you choose not to keep it. We kept our wine glasses. I think they are pretty. The wine was good. I liked all that I sampled and ended up buying a bottle of Radiance which is comparable to Pinot Grigio. They had live music when we were there that added great ambiance to the day. You can purchase a tasting for $5. Other than that wine is only sold by the bottle. You can bring your own food and snacks or purchase at the winery. Ideal place for a group to spend the day as there is plenty of tables and space on the lower patio. We called two months ahead and reserved a spot under the pavilion for a coed baby shower. When we received our final RSVP number (which ended up being about 60 people) we let one of the owners know and we paid the agreed upon fee of $5 per person to reserve the appropriate amount of chairs and tables for the event. We were told that on the day of the event the earliest that we could show up to begin setting up for the shower was 11:30am. Our shower was at 1pm, so our family showed up at 11:30am to begin decorating only to find that someone had taken some of our tables for a bridal shower. They were already set up for their party, so clearly someone let them in early to decorate after we were told otherwise. After talking with the staff and talking with the people in the bridal shower we learned that the "bride to be" was an employee of Wild Sun. She was very snarky and rude to my mother. When my mom informed this "bride to be" that she had taken two of our tables she sarcastically asked if we were "really going to have 60 people at our shower" as if we were lying about the RSVP number. She then proceeded to say that she was the person in charge of the reservations at Wild Sun and she had no recollection of speaking with anyone about our reservation. She refused to give our tables back, so about 12-15 of our guests ended up having to eat their food from their laps with no table (keep in mind we had a full spread of food- pasta, roast beef, the whole nine yards). When my mom tried bringing this to the staff's attention they tried saying that they thought we were bringing our own tables...which makes absolutely no sense. Why would they rope off tables for our event if they thought we were bringing our own? We also had an issue with drinks. We were told that we could not bring our own soft drinks. We spoke with the owner when we booked the reservation and we agreed that we would just have a running tab for soda and water for our guests and we would pay at the end of the day. When we tried to put drinks on our tab the staff had no idea how to create a running tab for us and said that they had never done that before. We then had to purchase soda and water in bulk (unopened extras were nonreturnable) so that our guests would have soft drinks available. The staff was helpful in this matter, but it was really inconvenient since we had already encountered issues. The "bride to be" employee made it very clear that she was an employee and went out of her way to be rude to our guests on a few separate occasions throughout the day. She HUMILIATED a friend of the family who is special needs. He has a crush on my mom and brought her a small rose in a little paper bag. The "bride to be" employee (who should be minding her own business and enjoying her bridal shower) went out of her way, went over to the table where my mother and the special needs gentleman were sitting, and told my mom that outside liquor was not allowed, assuming that the paper bag she was holding contained alcohol. When my mom explained that it was a rose in the paper bag the "bride to be" insisted that my mom show her the rose. It made everyone at the table uncomfortable and embarrassed. You all really need to be careful of who you choose to represent your business. We did everything that we were supposed to do to reserve a spot with tables and chairs for our occasion and for some reason your "bride to be" employee felt like just because she works for you, our reservation meant nothing and your staff backed her behavior. This will be the last time I host an event at Wild Sun, and I can 100% say that all 60 of my guests feel the same after the way we were treated. read more

I wanted to give like 4.8 stars, but that wasn't an option. I stopped by this place on a recommendation from google maps as between Johnson Shut-Ins and St Louis. It was an excellent recommendation. The grounds were well kept and very pretty. My friend and I shared a bacon and spinach pizza, which was delicious. There was live music and the guy playing was very talented. I was impressed by their dedication to social distancing and was pleased to see the staff wearing a mask. There was hand sanitizer available in multiple places. Their website mentioned that you could bring chairs to set up on their lawn if you needed more distance, but it wasn't necessary. The wine was good, not great, but definitely on par for Missouri wine (sweet), a little on the pricy side. Not nearly enough to knock the place down to four stars. I'm happy to recommend and would definitely come back with a group. read more

Wild Sun Winery is located in a rural setting less than an hour south of St. Louis. The tasting room is located in a gorgeous historic 1800's farm house. They have several large decks, patios, fountains. They have decent wine for Missouri. They allow outside food, but they also have a small pizza menu. The veggie pizza with goat cheese is yummy! Very relaxed setting. I highly recommend this winery if you want to have a short road trip on a beautiful day. read more

There are a lot of wineries around the St. Louis area anymore, so it takes a lot to be special. this one is fine, if not anything spectacular. We found the wines to be a bit better than most Missouri wines. There is ample outside seating and the service is friendly. We came for lunch and tried a bacon pizza as well as their Lobster bisque. Both were fine, but nothing to rave over. We probably wouldn't bother with food if we came back. As noted in other reviews, the scenery/view is not as majestic as some other wineries you might choose. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. Bottom line: It's fine. read more
