This place is a gem in Jefferson County! My family went there to celebrate a birthday and had the best time. The scenery, live music, and atmosphere were so welcoming and enjoyable. The owners were great, communicated well, and very helpful to ensure we had a great experience. Our family favorites to recommend are the Blush Wine, and Sangria (red or white can't go wrong!) There are also plenty of non-alcoholic options if you don't drink or are a designated driver. We are already planning a return trip and excited to introduce Persimmon Ridge Winery to friends and family. read more

Great atmosphere and service! Tucked back in the woods but worth the drive. A chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Owner guy is very "un-inviting". Upon meeting at counter, he acts like you are trying to rip him off. You ask about the wines and he says "there on counter is list" then just looks at you stern faced. Instead of letting you know about signing up for a tasting at $15, he gives you a .1 oz taste and says that will be $2. Upon sitting down, he confronted us since we had food in a cooler and instead of asking if we had liquid beverages that are prohibited(which we had only cheese and crackers), he confronts you shouting no outside beverages and wants to inspect your soft cooler. Norton was good, but not worth the drama of the place. read more

A pretty short drive from the city takes you to this lovely little winery. Yes, after getting off the highway you do have to drive down a narrow road and by a few unsightly homes, but that is not in the control of this business. None of the staff members wore a mask (I don't think it is required in this county), but I would say about half of the visitors were. It's all outdoors / open-air, so we decided to stay, and just limit our interactions with others. This was very easy to accomplish with all of the available seating on the property. They had live music, which was great! Next time we will come hungry to try one of their homemade pizzas! read more

All of the wine we tasted was excellent, the brick oven pizza was delicious, the ambiance was perfect, and the service was amazing. The family that owns and operates the winery are the best. Stopped at Persimmon after visiting the Museum of Transportation. It was a little busy when we arrived, but we were helped right away. Paid $5 for an entire sampling of their wines, which heck yeah!, and found out that I love the dry white wines. I loved the chardonel so much that I got a full glass of it. My main peeve was that the person serving our drinks was telling my friend and I about the "trouble" he got into when he was in the town where I lived doing construction work, which...I didn't need to know? Either way, a pretty location, and good wine! Do recommend! (And am wishing I bought a bottle of the chardonel before I left!) read more

My mom and I tried to visit over the weekend. After coming down the pothole ridden barely there gravel road we came to a locked rusty gate. There were a few other cars parked with confused looking customers. The hours on the website state that the winery opened at 11 but it was about 2pm and very closed. We were told by the others parked that they had no idea where the owner or his son was, when they were going to arrive to open or even if they were coming at all. We were told they thought the owner may have gotten caught at an auction running late and to just wait a few minutes as the other customers were sure the owner would arrive or at least get him on the phone to find out where he was. After waiting about 10 minutes the other customers said they couldn't get ahold of anyone and we should check out Villa Antonia. Which we did and it was lovely. However, my mom and I are both disabled and have been planning this outting for weeks. The long drive, time and effort, not to mention the physical pain of driving down the poorly maintained road took unnecessary energy out of us and our impromptu trip to Villa had to be cut short. A customer shouldn't have to call ahead to make sure the place is open during it's normal hours on a non holiday. At the very least put on the website there will be a delay in opening, or a sign at the beginning of the road that the winery is closed or hours are different for that day. Also, I find it dubious that only 2 people work this place. If you decide to venture to Persimmon Winery make sure you call ahead and also drive there in a jeep or other all terrian vehicle, but make sure the vehicle isn't too wide otherwise you will not fit the narrow road. read more

This place is off the beaten path for sure, but really, it's pretty close for the locals. You have to drive down a narrow rock road past several old mobile homes to get here, but the winery and it's premises are fine. A bit primitive by comparison to pretty much any other MO winery, but fine for a visit. On a gorgeous day, there were maybe 30 people who visited this winery. For me that was kind of a welcome change. We were pleasantly surprised by the wines - not bad at all compare so some of the nasty tastings we've had at other wineries. The bartender was also the owner and winemaker. He was friendly enough. The website said they have food, but I didn't see anything. We brought our own snacks, enjoyed a couple bottles of wine and listened to the music - a couple of guys who are fans of Neil Young and the Grateful Dead, which is fine with me. Overall, a nice experience. We'll likely come back sometime. read more

Went yesterday for a birthday party. One of the workers, could've been an owner but not sure, stopped me as I was driving down the road and was very ignorant telling me I couldn't park down there I had to turn around and park outside the premise. There was no need for him to be so unfriendly. All he had out were saw horses but no signage stating that there wasn't parking. Wine was really good. I had the sweet white wine. Property was very nice. Another lady in our party spent over $75 and was closing out her tab when she asked another lady in our party to go grab her cup of water to which she was scolded by the female employee "we don't allowed outside drinks, you need to take that to your car right now". Not that it mattered because she was leaving anyways. I can understand not wanting to allow people to bring outside drinks since they sell that stuff there, but she spent a decent amount of money. I will never be back. read more

I would not recommend this winery if you're wanting a group of friends and family to enjoy a nice outing or have a small get together for a special occasion. A group (12 people) of us went this winery to celebrate my sister's birthday. We brought our own food and utensils. When we arrived, we were greeted by the female owner who was extremely rude and hateful. She immediately told us they were going to be too busy today and that they needed their tables for their "guests". I'm not sure what she thought we were, but we were also paying guests. After that comment, we instantly felt uncomfortable and unwelcome! One of the members of our party brought their own drink in and was immediately scolded by the female owner on how they do not allow outside beverages and how they are trying to run a business. I do understand the point she was making, however she was completely hateful and rude. As the day went on, we noticed other parties bringing outside beverages in, but yet those other individuals were not scolded like the member of my party was. We tried to enjoy ourselves, but after the way we're talked to as soon as we arrived, it just ruined the mood. We won't be back! read more

So, first time here. Not a typical "hey let's go to a winery day". It was raining, overcast and a little chilly. That being said, we were greeted by "Grandson" who said we couldn't park closer, even though no one else was there but one car. "Grandpa's friend" hollered out the door, to let us park there, but "Grandson" said he'd get us an umbrella and we could walk or we could sit in the car until it stopped! Seriously! I wanted to shove the umbrella into parts not shown, but we could roll. We did park, down the road, off the premises, used the stupid insulting umbrellas and went inside. Oh, that was just the beginning! Yes, there was entertainment. A keyboard player and a guitar player, which if we would have stayed longer were probably really good. The wine tasting went ok, only because "Grandpa's Friend" was bartending!!!!! What a gentleman! A very pleasant man. The Sangria was really good, the wine not so much, but I didn't even want to put down another dollar, even for a water bottle! Once "Grandson's" beloved dog made it to the top of a table, next to people that were EATING, we were done. Won't be returning......ever. read more

What a gem! I have only been to wineries in Augusta but won't be anymore. The atmosphere is relaxing but up beat, wine is great, and live music on weekends. Plus there the dog is really cute : ) I cannot wait to plan another weekend trip here. read more

Persimmon Roshe Winery is a very small winery that's only a short distance off the beatten path. The wines were very good. Since we prefer a sweeter wine, we only tasted the Sangria, Rose and Persimmon wines. We decided the pitcher of Sangria was not only very good, it was the best value. We took our own snacks, which is permitted by the establishment since there is no food available to purchase. However, any drinks, including water, must be purchased there. There are a couple of unleashed large dogs that are very calm and friendly. The owner has a sign at the bar that requests the guests not feed the dogs. The dogs didn't beg for food and weren't a bother to anyone. Parking is a bit of an issue. The sign indicates there's handicap parking. We pulled next to the building and were approached by the owner who told us it was ok to park in that area. However, this only accomodates a couple of cars. Regular parking is a short walk on a gravel path between rows of the vineyard. There are a few picnic tables, lawn chairs, swings and a fire pit in a wooded area within view if the winery tasting room. The winery is located in a very quiet serene setting. It would be a nice place for a small shower, wedding or birthday party (maybe 50 or so guests). We had a very pleasant afternoon and plan on returning soon. read more
