We stayed at Bay Palms as we wanted to a weekend entirely by boat. With the restaurants/bars of Blind Pass, Gulfport Beach, Tierra Verde and Pass A Grille all within 15 minutes and the sand bars of Bunces Pass, Johns Pass and then Egmont Key all so close it was a great choice. The marina is in a protected waterway and features recently refurbished docks, in great condition with brand new edging down below the waterline at low tide. Our room was amazing with a full kitchen, sitting room and what can be better than having the boat docked directly behind our suite so to check on it all we had to do was open the drapes! We also were able to enjoy private beach access through their sister resort, Plaza Beach Resort, across the street. Regardless of which resort you stay at you can enjoy the amenities at all three: pet friendly, mini golf, ping pong, foosball, corn hole, shuffleboard, heated swimming pools, beach bar, beach volleyball, happy hour, along with life sized versions of chess, jenga, beer pong, and connect four! Fish cleaning station on the deck, outdoor grills, with water and electric at each slip to flush your motors and charge your trolling motor batteries. We were very pleased with our stay and will definitely be coming back. If you're a boater that will be visiting the area they offer trailer parking and the public boat ramp is just 5 min by car and 15 min away by boat so it couldn't be any more convenient! read more

Pros and Cons. Pros: Resort is cute and even on 4th of July weekend back area and pool were never over crowded. Outdoor space is well kept and super adorable especially at night. Morning coffee staring at the water was great. Room is cute, standard motel feel.we had one bedroom with sitting area. Rooms were clean and bathroom had an updated feel. Cons: You can hear EVERYTHING around you. Don't get on bottom floor. Obnoxiously loud and again resort doesn't feel overcrowded so that's just hearing people above you, in the halls and next to you. I'm pretty sure war veterans have better beds sleeping in the desert. These things are seriously horrible. We ended up sleeping on pull out couch with the few extra towels and blanket we bought and pulled off the main beds sheet and mattress cover to put on it. Sad when a pull out couch is your best option and still sucks to the point we're looking into getting massages because our backs hurt so much. Seriously you feel every coil. Again pull out couch was better option than bed if that tells you anything. Again we didn't expect 5 star resort but ONLY reason I didn't give 1star is outdoor area being so clean and cute and it never feeling over crowded but now we know why it isn't. Can't wait to go home cause at 4:30 am sitting here with pain in both hips from sleeping on these mattresses and dread of staying night isn't how you should feel. read more

I would not stay at this location again. The room is meh but tolerable, not at this price though. They require you to purchase bracelets to access their facilities. To get an extra parking pass for my wife who was visiting for a few days for Father's Day while I was at a conference cost me $45 per day. The room was damp the entire time. The place was in need of renovation. They have 3 locations, so maybe I just got stuck in the low budget version, IDK but there are plenty of other places to stay, much nicer Airbnbs, rentals on the gulf, etc. The final straw was when I asked if I could get a 1 hour late check out so I didn't have to pack everything up and leave it in my car at the conference for 4 hours. I literally needed to house my belongings for an extra hour and half. They responded that every hour later was $20. It was not the money, it was the fact that they run it like that. The message to your customers is bad when you nickel and dime them for everything. I could have tolerated the room if the service was up to standard. Positives: the Grand Hacienda next door is delicious. The Brass Monkey down the road... AMAZING. I will also say when I called they took care of things like, not having towels, running out of toilet paper, etc. It says it is family owned, I do like that, but the penny pinching is not worth contributing to a negative experience read more

Nice family and pet friendly resort, my only discretion is the wi-fi service was not great, the corridors were a little to dark at night, when going back to your room ( little safety concern) and the fact the office was located up the street. The ad quoted $143 per night and seemed competitive with other Hotels in the area. I was booking a trip 3 days in advance. As I added more people to the reservation, the cost went up markedly. I booked the room for 4 people for 2 nights. The room had 2 queen size beds and 2 sleeper sofas. After all the hooey hooey charges were tacked on it was $666.00. After hours of searching, I just went ahead and booked it. Then, one person on the trip got stranded in another state and her flight was canceled. She couldn't make it home in time. I tried to cancel and they refused to refund my money! I tried through Expedia and directly through the hotel. They told me to "read the fine print" - No refunds. After spending half of a day calling back and forth between Expedia and Bay Palms Hotel, they agreed to refund 1 of the 2 days. I then had to make the trip for1 day only, and they charged me $392.63 for one night. It wound up being a wonderful trip. The rooms are clean and just as advertised. Two days after I returned home, another charge appeared in my bank account. $44.07. What? You're kidding!!! I called the hotel directly. I was asked if I had read the policies. I was told it was a non-refundable charge for the hotel's amenities. I thought "What am I to do?" "Hire a lawyer?" So that was that. $436.70 for one overnight stay. This was not The Ritz or Park Hyatt! I will never go back, and wish all to know. I don't know any hotel that refuses to refund money with 72 hours' notice. ******* Caveat Emptor read more

I can't believe we found this gem! Rooms were recently and delightfully updated, clean and so conveniently located. We loved walking back and forth between the sister properties, although our parking pass was good at both. The Marina in the back was perfect, serene and peaceful. There are two BBQ grills and picnic tables covered by Tiki roofs on each of the two decks. Next time we will try to stay at the main property, which is on the beach. Our A/C unit was not cooling the room properly and the staff member they sent worked diligently until she fixed it. At one point after walking back to our room, leaving the room key card in our car at the main beach property, we called and were cheerfully let in by a housekeeping member. Thankfully I had my ID with me! We will definitely be back and maybe try staying at the main hotel on the beach next time. read more

I want to thank the Bay Palms Waterfront Resort for helping make my trip to Tampa a great one! The apartment I got was clean and well stocked and was the perfect place to have friends visit. The hotel is nice, very clean, beds are comfortable, pillows aren't lumpy and the bathroom had a very nice luxurious feel. The hotel is centrally located on St Pete Beach and you're about a block away from the sister hotel with beach access. However, there was incessant dog barking all hours of the day and night since this hotel allow pets. I don't mind pets, but the constant barking got old after 2 nights. Also, our room was directly across from the ice machine and due to construction at this properly, the constructions guys were constantly filling up empty paint gallon containers at 8 am waking us up. Also, on my last night here I left my room around 11 am and got back around 2:30 am. When I got back, the cleaning person failed to close my door properly so the door was left open and unlocked ALL DAY. When I went to check out 6 hours later and said something about it, I got a halfhearted apology. Nothing was taken, thank goodness, but I would not stay here again due to this. read more

Great value - Great location - bad parking The hotel is in a great location and is pet friendly. It was clean and staff was very polite. Convenient to all beaches, to Pass-a-Grille and all the St. Pete beach activities. Very serene deck over the water, pool is very small but enough to cool off. Very cute little hotel. Only problem is parking. Apparently there just enough spots for guests, and there were people visiting guests when we were there. We went out to get a pizza and there were no spots left to park when we got back. Very few of the vehicles had guest parking permits. We had to park in from of the strip mall in a tow away zone. Since the staff leaves for the evening, so no one was around to move the people that were not staying there. Try to avoid rooms close to the pool. Was very loud until about 3am (despite postings for "quiet time" ) . IMPORTANT! Make sure you have your pet leashed up before going to the front of the hotel as Gulf Blvd is dangerous enough to people and would be lethal if your pet got loose. I would recommend it , but ask it the hotel agrees to cover costs if you are towed due to lack of parking. read more

To be honest it could easy get a four star. The rooms were very large and nice. I basically had a one bedroom condo with large dinner table, full kitchen except oven, modern tvs, patio and furniture, great doc on the bay and a great pool. The location was also stellar, next to a great Italian spot, Publix, Walgreens etc. There was new tile floors, new granite, new paint crown moldings and more. All they had to do was put in new furniture and beds/bedding. They were cheap as they could be. I slept very poorly and my groom who stayed with me the night before had to get married with a crick in his neck. Sooooooo very close to being excellent. Made it very nice but forgot whats most important. A good nights sleep. Oh well. read more

He was super accommodating, super friendly, and was willing to bend over backwards to help me out. I can't thank Austin and the rest of the staff more. You guys were awesome. Outside of that my room had the best view of the water. There is honestly no better way to wake up. Also, the amenities were great. I'd pay money just to drink another beer on your dock. Everything was super relaxing and I think I made a great choice. I really want to thank you guys for everything you did for me. Pros: Staff are friendly & attentive & corrected most of my concerns within 3-4 hours. Great dock on the inter coastal. Cons: My room was dark, oddly laid out & right next to the ice machine. While they ask guests not to fill anything but the ice buckets given, the guests who fished & were up before the crack of dawn filled their coolers anyways. My fan/overhead light was controlled by another room due to a crossed wire...my light went on and off several times during the night which was terrifying as i was a solo traveler! They did replace my fan after i complained. The room looks freshly painted, yet the bathroom towels & bedding, as well as the furniture, which all were once white , are now dingy gray. The bathroom smelled so badly of mildew i requested a repeat clean and shower curtain replacement- which took care of it. The lighting in the room is awful- bright LEDs or halogen style. Reminiscent of old fluorescent overhead lighting. Rooms are not serviced unless a fee is paid?!? Parking is difficult & the office is not on property, but down and across the street. With all of the competition on this strip, I'll find a different place to stay, as I'll be making frequent trips to the area in the near future. read more

WHERE DO I EVEN START?! First I'll start off by saying I wouldn't have even written this review if the manager would have done the right thing and given us a free night for our next trip, but he DID NOT so here we are. When we first arrived in our room the thermostat said 81 degrees. It was SO hot in there that we couldn't even relax in the room. We turned it down to 70 and left to go visit some friends at their hotel on the beach. When we came back 3 hours later the thermostat was STILL at 81 degrees. We were going to a wedding that evening so we needed to shower and get dressed in the room. We called the front desk and they sent someone over to fix the AC. He could not fix it, so they sent more maintenance people to the room to go into the attic from inside our bathroom. 3 men were in our bathroom with a ladder and the ceiling tile out with paint chips all over the floor. I have provided pictures for you in this review. You would think they would have offered us a different room to shower and get ready in. But NO. My husband couldn't shower, we couldn't change clothes in the bathroom and we were trying to get ready in an 81 degrees bedroom with 3 men in our bathroom. We left to go to the wedding and when we returned there was a note left for us saying they were unable to fix it and they provided us a portable AC unit. WHY WOULD THEY NOT HAVE OFFERED US A DIFFERENT ROOM AT ANY OF THEIR THREE LOCATIONS???? Who just provides a portable AC unit? I know this is very long but here is the BEST PART. I called the manager when we checked out and he said because of our experience and for our trouble he was emailing me a 50% coupon for our next stay FOR THE SECOND NIGHT! (Never got the e-mail by the way). Never in a MILLION years would I pay any amount of money to stay here again. I booked through an outside booking company but it was still WAY overpriced. I literally cannot believe he wouldn't give us a free night to use in the future to try and make up for the nightmare stay we had. If management would have done the right thing, I would never have written this review. All of the people who have given great reviews for this place have obviously NEVER stayed at any of the BEACH resorts on St. Pete Beach. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to stay right on the beach about a mile north of this hotel. read more

I was able to book the last room at this hotel when last-minute plans for New Years Eve brought my boyfriend and I to St. Pete Beach. We had never stayed at this particular hotel, but were desperate for an inexpensive room that allowed dogs and was close to the beach. Luckily, this hotel had one room left (for only $99!). They were apologetic that it wasn't on the water, but who needs to be right on the beach when a) you have access to the beach and b) your room is on the bay? I found the room to be way nicer that I expected with flat screen TVs in the bedroom and living room. Everything was clean and comfortable. Very close to everything and very nice staff. We had a great stay at this resort with our three kids. It was a very low key and laid back place. The rooms were recently updated. For us it was nice to have the fishing pier right downstairs and the beach across the street. It was also nice to have access to the pool at the sister hotel on the beach down the street. Grocery store was real close and lots of restaurants were within walking distance or a short drive. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I wish I would have known about the $5 a day fishing pole rental before renting them somewhere else for $10 a day. read more

I am in love with this hotel! I write this review as I relax in my balcony with the bayview. I have to say the service in the sister hotel was beyond words. Adam checked me in and I can say that he totally lifted my spirits and brightened my day. I was upgraded to the suite with the bayview and I couldn't be happier. There are restaurants within walking distance, to be exact this Mexican restaurant that I plan to visit tonight! This dog friendly hotel is really great. Huge bedroom which is separate from the kitchen and living room. We had a really great stay! The only small draw back was the proximity of the parking to the main road which made it a little rough when backing out. We never had any problems with traffic though. The dock out back was great. Everything is nicely maintained and the private porch was really a nice addition we didn't expect. Definitely on my return list. read more

I only stayed here for a night (I drove down from NY state and needed a place to crash before I moved in to my place the next morning), but I was very happy with my experience and would recommend the Bay Palms to anyone visiting the area. I got a great deal through Orbitz, however their prices normally are extremely reasonable. Outside appearances were deceiving for sure. Right across from the beach and next to a fabulous little Italian restaurant. Our room was clean, the air conditioning was comfortable, and the sewing kit (along with a few other goodies) in the bathroom was a nice touch. I believe there was a free breakfast, but I didn't go to that, so can't speak for it. Only thing that is a little annoying is how small the parking lot is, but what are you going to do about it? Just be ready to maneuver if it's a busy night and you have a large SUV. I live in St. Pete now, so I won't be needing a hotel on the beach anytime soon, but I would definitely recommend this place. read more

We found Bay Palms Resort on Booking.com. It had great reviews from multiple websites and it was one of the less expensive hotels in the area. I'm so glad we found it online because it's easy to pass on the street. Although we don't typically stay with smaller hotels such as Bay Palms, it was totally worth it and a nice surprise. The room had basically a full kitchen in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. The room was VERY clean and well kept. We also went over to the Plaza Beach Hotel on the other side of the street for access to the beach. The staff was very friendly and there was a nice pool, beach bar, beach chairs, and games. The only concern we had when we arrived was parking, but we never had a problem getting a spot. Bay Palms completely lived up to the great reviews from Trip Advisor, Booking, and Yelp. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others! read more

Nicely furnished and decorated at a reasonable price. However there are several design problems that make this a difficult stay. First is you have to check in and out at another hotel down the beach. It's not convenient. Second is the parking is minimal and forces you to back out on a busy Gulf Blvd. third is Gulf Blvd. is noisy and busy. Lastly is there is only nightstand and lamp on one side of the bed and we got three pillows for two people and would have to truck up the beach to get more. We stayed at this hotel for one night after coming back from a cruise. It was such a great surprise! Don't be worried when you 1st pull up to the Bay Palms and there is a notice on the door that you need to go 200 yards down the street to check it at the Plaza Beach (company owns 3 separate hotels in this 200 yards). There is waterfront (dock access w/ fishing) at the Bay Palms and the Plaza Beach is waterfront (white sand beach, volleyball courts, chairs, etc.). There is also a small little tiki hut bar (Chris' Beachside) that is very reasonably priced ($2-5 for beers to heavy-pour mixed drinks). As for the hotel room, we could not have asked for more. It was a 1 bedroom with a fully stocked efficiency kitchen (stove, microwave, pots/pans, dishes, etc.) and living room (with extra TV). The room had been completely updated! read more

We had a very nice day at Bay Palms! The accomodations were very clean and comfortable. Deck on the bay was gorgeous, even though the weather was quite cool! Pool looked nice, wish they had a hot tub. Very nice places to eat. The Village Inn was an excellent place for meals, we enjoyed breakfast there very much. Hope to return next winter! read more

We just returned to (bbbrrrrrrrr!!!!!) Chicago after staying 7 nights at the Bay Palms Resort and I'm missing it (really badly) already. What a wonderful place to spend a quiet, comfortable vacation!!! I chose the Bay Palms based on all the positive reviews I'd read when trying to decide where to stay and it definitely DID NOT DISAPPOINT!. We had one of the 1 BR suites and it was clean, beautifully decorated and spacious. Spent many hours sunning on the large deck/pier and did avail ourselves of the opportunity to use some of the amenities at the Plaza Beach sister property a short stroll up the street. Reasonable rate, a very accommodating staff (thanks Jurgita and Robert!!!), recycling facilities on-site and free parking make this a resort you should definitely check out!! I look forward to returning to the Bay Palms for many more vacations! read more

Resort has two other properties close by and was able to use the pool and beach at the beach side resort too. My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Bay Palms Resort this past week. The hotel's staff were most accommodating and our efficiency room was very clean and spacious. Both Bay Palms and it's "sister" location at Plaza Beach Resort offered every convenience and accommodation for waterfront vacationing in sunny Florida. We especially enjoyed the happy hour with free beer and wine from 4-5Pm every day. My thanks to the folks at Bay Front for great service at a reasonable price. We'll see you next year! read more

Wonderful resort... We enjoyed Bay Palms very much... Only a few hiccups or annoyances... The staff especially housekeeping were very friendly... The clerk on duty in the office was a bit nit picky, we had towels hanging on the wall cause there is no balcony and he was very rude to my niece about removing the towels... But the next 3 days there were several other guest who had towels hanging over the wall and over the upper balcony... Also we had to walk to the main resort which it isn't far but it would have been more convenient if a shuttle was available since the parking was very limited....And Pulling out of the parking lot was very dangerous... You can not see oncoming traffic.... Last, we had a bed that was very worn, as soon as you sat on the bed you could feel and hear the springs... It was very peaceful... Loved the deck & pier area... Pool was small for families but the main resort pool was just down the road if you wanted to load up the car or load up your bags and go down there... Up's & downs.... But, nothing major....
