Cute place to stay. I had no major issues. Check-in and check-out is contactless, but there are usually a bunch of employees around that are tending to the bar and restaurant area. My check-in instructions initially didn't go through to my phone because I was using a VoIP (Google Voice) number, but I was able to get that sorted out using my other phone number. Some key points that were valuable to me: My room (king bed) "Mojito room" includes: -mini fridge, some complimentary snacks and beverages -free and fast Wi-Fi -alarm clock doubles as wireless charging dock -multiple large windows bringing in plenty of natural lighting -strong air conditioning -quick and hot bath water under adequate pressure -overall clean, no bugs, no major stains/leftover hairs, etc -beach bag with 2 beach towels -overall responsive staff via text and phone call Areas for improvement: -no working elevator which might be a concern for some -bathroom sink had super slow drainage -toilet paper dispenser installed in a suboptimal location on the wall -would be nice to have a shared microwave Considering location, price, amenities, and overall experience, Peninsula Bed and Cocktail provides great value and I would recommend this place to others. read more

Made a reservation for my baby moon in September. Became high risk so was inquiring with them about what the charges would be IF I cancelled. Planned on going if they were going to charge me a cancellation fee. Before I could make that decision my debit card was charged for an erroneous amount. Not even the amount of the full stay. When I reached out to them I was told that even if I didn't cancel they have authorization to charge the card on file. I contacted my bank for the unauthorized charge and proceeded to cancel my reservation. I can't stay somewhere that practices business in this way. All right, so let me start by saying that the ambience seems really cute. However, the complementary cocktails are not from the bar. They are canned cocktails that come with your room... we booked the old-fashioned suite and ours came with Palomas. See the discrepancy here look I love Palomas, but I was going for a vibe and this wasn't it. I booked the old-fashioned suite for the clawfoot tub....I'm a bath girl so it seems really wonderful butttt The drain does not drain and it goes literally everywhere I'm talking 1 inch of water all over the bathroom. I paid 100 extra dollars for this and did not feel I got my moneys worth quite obviously... my Fiancé did message the resort and they said they were sending someone to look at it. We were quite literally in and out of the room all day and no one came, such a disappointment. We love a good boutique hotel with a nice vibe and this wasn't it zero stars pretty upset. I decided to give the bath another chance just in case they maybe did fix it and we somehow missed it. This is really cool old building that is really well done. Fun, quirky, friendly, and surprisingly comfortable. The bartender was friendly and engaging. The drinks were good, the bed was very comfortable. It is three stories and the elevator doesn't seem to work very often. Make sure To request a low floor if you have health issues. Really happy to post a new review for The Peninsula or that it's under new management and has had a bit of a renovation. Note this is a review of the bar and restaurant only -- the hotel isn't welcoming guests to stay just yet, as renovations are still under way. Mel and I stopped in on a Friday evening after a few beers at O'Maddy's, looking forward to trying their food and cocktails. We were not disappointed! We started with the Smoked Mahi Spread, which is served with thick slices of toasted sourdough and garnished with slices of pickled jalapeño--delicious! Mahi flavor is always so subtle, so adding the jalapeño gives it a nice kick, while the sourdough provides great crunch to every bite. Just as we were finishing that dish, our first round of cocktails. We both went with drinks out server recommended that were not on the menu: Mel went with the Mezcal Old Fashioned, while I ordered the Smoked Old Fashioned. Both were excellent -- the Mezcal one stands out because it's lighter, brighter, and more lively on the palate than the Mezcal Old Fashioneds they used to serve at the old Sea Dog Cantina in Gulfport (now The Drunken Taco), while the Smoked Old Fashioned benefits from a lovely presentation: our server brought it to us in a corked bottle with the smoke trapped inside, so the beverage could absorb as much of that flavor as possible right up until it's poured. Order it and see for yourself! As for our dinners, Mel came out the winner this evening. She went with the NY Strip, which comes sliced and served on a bed of Goat Cheese polenta, chimichurri and roasted cherry tomatoes-- well seasoned, perfect temperature, excellent overall. My dinner choice, the Seaside Shrimp n' Grits, was very good, too--the shrimps were large, fresh, and flavorful and the mushroom and peppercorn gravy added a unique earthiness to the dish as a whole--but if you have the choice, go with the steak, especially if you're a steak lover. We wrapped up our meal with chocolate churros, another splendid recommendation from our server. Their spin on this Latin sweet treat features a Mexican chocolate dip for the churros that's got some sneaky heat to it -- nothing crazy as far as spiciness but just enough to be felt. Loved it, would definitely order it again. All in all, we had a wonderful date night experience at the "new" Historic Peninsula. Looking forward to more great things from this Gulfport Waterfront District icon as they continue to renovate and refine their guest experience. read more

10/10 - this is now me and my family's new favorite spot to staycation. Gulfport is a super artsy community and as a local writer it was a great spot to write for the weekend. We stayed a Sunday- Tuesday and the Florida in July rain put a damper on our outdoor dinner plans- but we're able to try the wine bar next door and got take out for favorite spots - Mazzaro's Italian Market in St. Pete.We didn't even care and we enjoyed our Italian pastries reading and writing ithe super cute and cozy Mimosa room. Despite many of the downtown businesses being closed Mondays, it did make the downtown super quiet and a lot more relaxing. I really love Gulfport and the Peninsula because it is less of touristy neighborhood than SPB or Treasure Island. Gulfport was hard hit last year from the hurricanes and they are still in the process of recovering and rebuilding - I'm really happy I could be apart of supporting local businesses to help bring the town back to life! Due to the hotel being a historic building- the room was a bit stuffy and hot but the extra fan helped tremendously which cooled down the entire room. But no complaints and look forward to our next visit soon!! read more

I'm giving this rating 2 stars because my husband and another couple visited this hotel bar on a Saturday evening. The bartender was "pissy" after she misunderstood my drink order and had to make me the drink I wanted. I cashed out and left her a big tip because it is the holiday season. I left my jacket on the chair with my purse and 1/2 finished drink on the bar while we stepped away for a minute to take a photo. The bartender took my drink away without even asking me if I was done. Terrible service. To take my unfinished drink away after I left her a big tip was #1 BS. The lesson learned here is not to cash out until I am ready to leave, period. read more

Imagine an Airbnb with self check-in. It is just like that except for a hotel. The front door to the hotel doesn't lock despite the material I was provided saying it locked after 30 secs of a person using their PIN code (that's how you enter and exit the building and your room...the 4 digit PIN code they assign you). I called & texted the number provided but no one answered. I phoned the emergency number. The recording provided a list of acceptable "emergencies" and broken lock was on the list. I left my message w the answering service. No one ever called me back. The photos show what I (single woman alone) walked into when I checked-in (between 9 & 10 pm) ...a dark building with no one on site and a broken front door. The door to the hotel is set just feet from the sidewalk of a main street. The lobby is where they run the bar during the day. From the reviews it seems there are more bar patrons than hotel customers. In fact, this place is more like a bar that has a hotel than a hotel with a bar. A person could quickly and easily enter the building unnoticed at night, especially given people seem familiar with the small property because of the bar. It would be easy for a less than scrupulous person to know this place is an easy mark. They have security cameras but they aren't actively monitored. I tried to get someone's attention on the cameras. So, I guess if anyone breaks in or attacks a guest there's a possibility they will look up into the camera and the police can use that to find them The hotel is a cute theme and I love historic buildings. This seems like a historic home converted to a hotel but it lacks all the customer service and security you normally get at a hotel (or even a motel). At least with Airbnb if you can't get the owner, Airbnb customer service is available. There are advantages to a hotel with no one onsite or on-call . You could have a wild time here and no one would ever know ...but I'm not coming back. I'd leave tonight but they have a very strict (worse than Airbnb) cancellation policy. Note: I finally got a call back. The answering service informed me "The owner knows about the front door". I asked if they were going to fix it and the service just replied "she said she's aware the front door isn't locking" I wonder if the owner sleeps with her front door unlocked because her bedroom door locks. read more

My fiance and I just enjoyed our 3rd stay over the past year at The Historic Peninsula Inn and we absolutely love it there. In fact with this recent stay we've spent over 2 weeks at the Inn within the year. This trip we checked in New Years Eve and stayed through our birthday as we both share the same birthday. Our accommodations are always great, spacious suites with nice baths. The food at Isabelle's is just the best and the breakfast is our favorite part of the day as we set out on the veranda to eat enjoying the atmosphere of lovely Gulfport and people watch. We highly recommend the Peninsula and Gulfport, it's quiet, it's laid back and oh so relaxing. We like our morning walks and it's so nice to walk down to the beach and set on one of the many benches then stroll the side streets making our way back to the Inn. She's an old structure well maintained by Veronica, Thomas and staff and she is very charming. Old Florida at it's finest and we love that. Gulfport is such a lovely town and we come often. But this hotel is a waste of money and I think a letdown to the town. The elevator "is for show only" and never works according to the bartenders, and yet most of the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. So it's basically a walk-up. (Isn't that an ADA violation?) We had a 3rd floor "suite" so we could entertain a few family members. But after seeing our room with the bathroom sink in the living room, no wardrobe at all (hangers on the bedroom walls - how romantic), and a couch with no table, no light and not even an accompanying chair, we weren't about to ask our family members to schlep up 2 narrow flights of stairs. The shower leaked, there was no coffee maker, and the housekeepers (very nice but no English) didn't understand that we wanted clean and dry towels. The coffee downstairs is good but the "breakfast" is cold cereal and sugary pastries. By 10 am, the lobby is being mopped with strong disinfectant, a super pleasant way to greet the day as you head into Gulfport. At about $1000 for 3 nights, this hotel was a disappointment and a rip-off, and a letdown to the charming Gulfport. read more

Stayed 5 days in this boutique hotel/ bed & breakfast. Not sure how to categorize it. Probably would not stay there that long if we went back. No one is there during the day until much later about 2p. Still going through a transition as the restaurant is not in operation. Interior is lovely, room was nice but very small. Exterior needs work. Needs comfortable seating to make porch or back deck inviting. Elevator is very cool. Very light breakfast, choices were not the best. And then go into a area that is right by the main entrance. No sign no staff points to where to go. If fact a couple came in and stood around, waiter and busboy walked past and didn't say a word. So they left. The hamburger was OK. Thursday is hamburger special day, but if you get a couple of toppings you're right up to the regular price. But it comes with a glass of wine! Owners really care about the property and greet you warmly upon check in and turn take you to your room explaining the features, layout of the property, and discussing the available morning coffee and breakfast. Isabella's (the restaurant and bar) is charming and food drinks were very good and fairly priced. Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars and the Gulfport waterfront. On street parking. We had a fantastic Happy Hour at this lovely spot last night. Sat outside on the beautiful porch and sipped a delicious special House Margarita. We had Truffle Fries & Fried Artichokes, both the drinks and Appetizers are on the Happy Hour Special Menu. Met the owner Gaston and he bought us an additional Ceviche App. which was quite the welcome surprise. We cant wait to go back after the finish the work on the interior! Waitress stopped by after another 10 minutes and asked if we needed anything I told her menus and drinks. She said she would return shortly but never did, and the next person was someone who claimed to be the manager and who told us we were not allowed to sit there as the tables were reserved., and she was not at the host station as she was overwhelmed with attending to tables and the host station. No sign of reservation was at our table and she continued to ask us if we were here to eat or drink, I told her both she then preceded to tell us it would be a while, I said ok, we were enjoying the music . She then rudely told us that we could get drinks at the bar and then the food was no longer available because the kitchen was backed up. She then became very boisterous and decided to ask us to leave the premises or she would call the police to which I replied, go ahead as we had not deserved such a harsh response. We decided to leave. I can no longer recommend or will I return to spend my money and would strongly suggest that the management improve their training of the manager and staff to deal with the pubic in a professional manner. read more

LAUREN the hostess is an undeniable asset to this company. We were passing by the Inn on foot and happened to stop for a quick peek at the street menu even though we were already on our way to lunch. Lauren voluntarily inserted herself into the situation even after we mentioned we wouldn't be dining there today, and guided us through everything they had to offer as well as the times of which the respective menus ran. She even put in the extra effort to direct us to the Tuesday menu which was covered by another one (because we mentioned Tuesday's were usually our days off together). She also gave us a card and informed us on how to make reservations since it's getting busier right now. Lauren went above and beyond to entice new customers to stop by and try the food, which is refreshing as 15 year locals. We honestly had never heard of the Peninsula before, but solely due to Lauren's knowledge, professionalism, and initiative - we will absolutely be back to try the food!! read more

This Inn is super cute from the outside and is probably the best located hotel in Gulfport, FL. There ends my praise. The wifi was spotty; there is no reasonable guest seating inside -- and that's a problem in rain or sultry humidity -- but seating in the garden or on the front porch is available. The breakfast was a tasteless quiche and some blueberry muffins (good) and choices of items to toast. No decaf coffee. No sausage or bacon. No milk. Our room had peeling wallpaper and rusted pipes in the bathroom. The TV remote wouldn't operate the channel up or down. One had to key in channel numbers but there was not a TV guide and the revolving guide on channel 2 didn't match the shows on the TV. The air conditioner was underperforming. read more

We attended a wedding hosted at The Peninsula Inn. We stayed in the Bombay Room, every room is fitted just right and with an exotic flair. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets are very silky. They have a very nice "Pub" type bar with lots of yummy specialty drinks. Dinner was served and it was amazing!!! We will be back to this Inn and the wonderful little area known as Gulfport! read more
