In…read morethe end we found a comparable hotel at a much lower price and I attempted to cancel through their website. Clearly, I made a mistake and the cancelation did not go through. When I arrived in Venice, I received a horribly impolite message from Locanda shaming for not showing up and demanding to know when we plan to arrive. I was horrified and sent a note of apology explaining my confusion and asking how we can fix the problem. I felt terrible that I had wasted their time but was also taken aback by the angry tone of their initial contact. The email I received in return was SCATHING. Hateful and one of the meanest emails I have ever read. They charged us the full amount of our stay. Over 600 euro. And while I understand they have a cancelation policy. Their behaviors was appalling. Unprofessional does not begin to cover it. The communication from this business was so vindictively mean that I did not feel like we could stay there. This was the higher rated accommodations of the 2 hotels we were choosing between and had they not been so TERRIBLY unkind and uninviting we probably would have chosen to stay at this hotel instead of the other one we booked. But we felt, frankly, afraid to move over to Locanda as we were appalled by their retaliation. There is absolutely no reason I would book a hotel and knowingly be a no show. That doesn't make any sense. My flaw was completely innocent and unintentional. If you book with them, do so with caution. They are unforgiving of mistakes and will retaliate to the best of their ability. Emotionally, verbally and financially. If Locanda denies this, I am happy to supply a copy of their emails to me.

If you're looking for a Hilton or Marriot experience, I concede this place isn't for you. But if you want exceptional service, give this historic hotel a shot.
