A beautiful place for lunch in Ravello that overlooks the sea! Unfortunately when we came, it was quite windy and a little drizzly so we couldn't bask in much of the outside but I preferred that there was wind cover. Unfortunately if you make a reservation, they require a quite surprising 4 days advance notice to cancel so we had to brave the cold! This restaurant seemed pricier than other pricy restaurants in the area. I ordered a goat cheese tortellini, which had good pickled onions but otherwise was a very small portion and kind of flat. However, my husband liked his veal with potatoes and my parents enjoyed their club sandwiches. The service was very personable and welcoming! read more

We stopped here for lunch last summer while we were in Ravello. The view from the terrace overlooks the Amalfi coast and is truly stunning. If you can, make your reservation in advance so that you can get a table with a view. The service was friendly and the food was quite good with generous portions. This was a gorgeous location in our day at Ravello. They have a dinner menu posted outside the entrance that will scare you away for lunch but worry not because they have a daytime bar menu. You can sit right on the edge and view the canyon looking to the water with spectacular views of the terraced land. I ordered the mushroom pizza with Buffalo mozzarella and it was exceptional. The crust was perfect and the homemade sauce was amazing. My wife ordered the club sandwich that also came with chips. We could have shared either one as the portions are huge! The service is outstanding, the views are gorgeous and the food is amazing. You must stop here when I'm Ravello whether for lunch or their dinner menu looked fantastic. read more

Breakfast buffet was included, and was a nice mix of pastries, cheese and meats, and you could order scrambled eggs for no extra cost, but if you wanted an omelette there was an up charge. We'd had an especially arduous hiking day in 90+ degree heat wave and the food and drink were especially satisfying. Loved the scialatielli with clams and mussels. Excellent cocktails and service. If I was to utter only three words after my visit to Ravello, they would be 'visit Villa Maria'. My boyfriend and I mainly go on holiday to find breathtaking sites, to create memories and to eat eat eat, and this satisfied all three needs to the highest degree. The four star hotel and accompanying restaurant are run by four generations of Italian family, and so the restaurant atmosphere is at once relaxed and familiar and also elegant enough to feel like a treat(!) The view, wow, the view is worth visiting alone - sumptuous rolling Italian hills and sea views in the background and layer upon layer of organic gardens that sustain the restaurant just below you. You can see the lemons that go into your granita and the peppers that are grilled for your salad growing only metres away, all accompanied by twinkly calming classical music. The food is delicious, and the best we had this holiday - it's fresh, interesting and offers surprisingly sizeable portions for a white-linen-table-cloth-style restaurant. Your best bet is to go for lunch, their salads and pizzas are delicious and not at all unaffordable, especially considering the size and quality you get (under €13 per main course). We had the anchovy, bread, mozarella salad and the Smoked cheese and grilled vegetables salad, both of which were much more than their descriptions explain and highly recommended. Others nearby had the couscous salad and although they seemed to enjoy it, we thought ours looked to be the most scrumptious. Dessert, as is often the Italian way, was a smaller, more delicate affair but still lovely with fresh fruit and inventive flavours (star anise and pink peppercorn sauce!). The lemon granita was especially moreish and refreshing. Overall, all very tasty, and eaten within a lovely atmosphere looking out into the breathtaking hills. The dishes other diners had looked exciting and delicious as well, and all good value for lunchtime in this area of the Amalfi Coast. As expected, dinner time looks to be slightly more expensive, but I would reckon it would be a visit worth making if you're only in Ravello for the evening. As I say, for views, memories and delicious food, you must visit Villa Maria(!). read more

Five Stars for the view. Two Stars for the food. Two Stars for the service. The view and ambiance at Villa Maria is incredible and made even our late lunch of a rainy day seem like a very romantic affair. We ordered the Turkey Sandwich and Margherita Pizza. The pizza was pretty decent but the sandwich was lacking flavor and the bread/meat ratio was way off (WAY too much bread). Their special "pink sauce" was mayo mixed with ketchup so please don't expect anything too up-scale from this place. They also served french fries with the sandwich which were awful. The servers did not seem particularly interested in making our experience special. They were not very attentive, provided zero recommendations, and sped us through the meal. For this reason, we would not return. There are plenty of other places in Ravello where they actually appreciate your business. read more

I so wish I could give this beautiful picturesque setting of a restaurant a better review but based on the two items I ordered I just can't. Keep in mind I'm only reviewing the lasagna and glass of red wine. But based on the high price I would expect far more from each. Lasagna pasta was overcooked the tomato sauce was a thick concoction and not very tasty. The small tiny meatballs that they refer to also zero flavor it was apparently the wrong item to order. The wine which was by the glass, Taurasi, $16 and I would say not worth maybe five dollars. The waiter built up the suspense in anticipation of this tasting because he said make sure to let the chilled wine warm up for 15 minutes before you drink it and when I did I was totally underwhelmed. To be fair I did hear other people mention their carbonara was good and Caprese salad but I didn't taste either of them so I'm only reviewing these two items. The view is worth seeing but the view is free from the outside of the restaurant. read more

We were sat in the formal area on the terrace and were told we would have to move to be able to order off the casual menu. Well we did but literally moved to the next table! Once there, order a bottle of wine and enjoy one of the great menu options available. I was lucky enough to attend with a friend who was staying in the hotel and was able to enjoy a four course meal. Having lunch at Villa Maria was one of the highlights of our trip up the Amalfi coast. The food was magnificent, the wine superb, the staff attentive, cordial and knowledgeable, and oh, did I mention the views? Panoramic! Who could ask for a better combination?!? The restaurant is part of a very elegant hotel situated within Ravello itself but up on a hill in a quiet spot. The view really is breathtaking...overlooking the ocean but also the terraced hills across the way. Everything they served was delicious, but of particular note for us were the Potato Agnolotti with a wonderful sauce, and a lovely dish of sauteed escarole. Villa Maria has a very good winelist with both international wines, and (most important to us) plenty of local producers to choose from. We has a nice crisp bottle of Costa D'Amalfi Bianco by Marisa Cuomo, a producer based in Furore across the way. Perfect complement to our lunch. Highly advised to make reservations, and to request a table outside. Also, I'd suggest coming up here for a full lunch (or dinner) and not just a snack (there are plenty of snack places in town). Instead, come up to Villa Maria to sit, relax and linger over the great scenery, a delicious meal and a bottle of wine, and let their wonderful staff dote on you for a little while. Villa Maria is a great place to eat in Ravello, especially if you're looking for somewhere to get lunch/dinner near the Villa Cimbrone Gardens. The restaurant has the most amazing location- high up in the hills of Ravello, you can dine alfresco on the terrace with breathtaking views. On the particular day we visited, the skies were quite ominous and we were glad they had a huge clear tent so once the sky broke open, we could still enjoy the spectacular view. That huge clear tent, is structurally sound(shockingly so) as right after our bottle of wine was placed on the table, the skies opened and torrential downpours/thunder/lightening ensued with strong winds! The entire time I feared that with being this high up with such strong storms, the entire thing would knock down, but it didn't! We went during lunch time and they have two different menus- one with more casual fare(paninis and pizza) and then a more formal one with main courses. My husband had the margherita pizza(off the lighter fare menu) which was pretty good, not the best ever, but good. I went with the lemon risotto which was amazing-- it was so flavorful(not overly citrusy) and balanced well with cream- making for an amazing comfort food on such a dreary day. Even if the food was horrible(thankfully not, lemon risotto is mmm delish!!), the view alone is worth a trip to this restaurant!!! read more

The views are good, and the food equally good. The spaghetti with mussels and clams were wonderful, very rich and full of flavour. The ravioli with pumpkin was sweet and tasty, plus the portion was quite big. Pricewise it is expensive, 16 to 20 euros for main courses. But this is fine dining al fresco with a great view, in a pricey place like Ravello! There is a cheaper "snack" menu with pizzas, paninis, and salads for 7-12 euros. But you don't get to sit at the tables with the best views. read more

On our honeymoon in Italy, we stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and it ended up being the most romantic dinner of our 2 week honeymoon! On a beautiful night, we enjoyed wine and a delicious dinner overlooking the cliffs of Amalfi coast and the sea. The service was of the highest quality and the food creative and fresh. The pictures don't do it justice. Located a short walk off the main square in gorgeous Ravello, Villa Maria offers an outdoor dining experience under lanterns and a large tree in the middle of the patio. I highly recommend this restaurant and if I ever make it back to the Amalfi Coast again, I will definitely visit again. read more

This place is beyond delicious. We are vegetarian and they have an entire veg menu which was great! Get the raw vegetable lasagna with fresh truffle. We literally died and went to heaven in just one bite. We also got a pea salad which was fresh but we could've done without. The strawberry rhubarb dessert was really good too with a lot of elements and textures. I dream of that lasagna every single day! Whenever we travel to Ravello, which we did again this summer, we dine as often as possible at Villa Maria. The staff continues to be helpful, friendly and accommodating and the food and service are consistently great. We always enjoy the head waiter and the maitre d. They are two of the most hard working, sincere and committed people you will ever meet in a restaurant. My guess is that we have been to Villa Maria a couple of dozen times for dinner over the past ten years and have never been disappointed with the food, service or wine. Everything is fabulous so I'm really feeling sorry for those reviewers who somehow got a bad meal here. Agree totally re: the lasagna but the seafood pasta is wonderful as well. As other reviewers note, the view is very nice and the breeze across the veranda on a warm summer night with music in the distance from the music festival simply can't be beat anywhere in the world. I find the prices here are actually very reasonable. Certainly not the most expensive restaurant on the coast and far less expensive than similar venues in Positano, Sorrento or even Ravello. By the way, try Villa Maria for breakfast which is even more wonderful and experience than dinner (well, almost, anyway). Amazingly good buffet with eggs and pancakes which are hard to find in Italy for breakfast in addition to a full European style offering. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on a sunny spring day on the patio of Villa Maria, and were thrilled! The menu was billed as the snack bar, but it had a full array of pizzas, pastas and other options and we found plenty of good options. The local wine was delicious, and the views to the terraced hillside of Scala and down to the coast were stunning.
