Food great: homemade pasta cooked perfectly of a pasta that is on my foodie list: Scialatieli al pesto Ceterese which has colatura di alici and bottarga (primi) which I could eat daily, Frittura Mista was great (secondi). The lemons are amazing here. I don't ever suck on lemons but these are beautiful! I like arugula, but I love their "rocket" arugula here. It is a touristy place but the location sells it. Outdoor seating right at the Amalfi Duomo is something to experience at night. It was a bit hard to find as it was up some stairs and a little out of the way, so we asked a nearby store keeper for directions. Well worth the extra effort to find the place. Tucked away behind the Basilica in the middle of Amalfi is this small, lightly air conditioned room restaurant. The staff speaks English and then have a nice variety of menu items. Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to spend in Amalfi as we were only there for day trip boat tour stop. The food came out quickly since we only got cold dishes. My mom ordered a nice fresh fruit salad. The burrata was delicious and a huge portion of veggies and tomato slices along with some croutons. The capocolla was very flavorful and it came with these pickled artichoke hearts. They were super refreshing. I definitely recommend this place if you wanna escape the tourists for a while. read more

Everything about this restaurant is five stars! We had the eggplant followed by Pinocchi and then the Sea bass. Every bite was so amazing. We ended our meal with lemon cake which was the best lemon cake I've ever tasted. The wine we had was for my local wine maker, Marissa Cuomo, and was absolutely delicious. A smooth blend of fruity and dry. Our server Paola was delightful. She gave us a sample of their own concoction of a drink made from lemon, mandarin, cinnamon,, anise, etc. Which was out of this world and sealed a wonderful dinner experience! When I first arrived they had just opened and there was only a couple in the dining area and no one was waiting at the door to greet and i desperately needed to use the rest room after waiting for a few mins, when i went past the waiter i let her know i was going to eat but needed to use the rest room first, upon coming out i went to her to ask where to sit and she tried to tell me i couldnt use the rest room unless i was eating there, to which i had to reiterate that i was eating but i needed to use the rest room first, she said oh and asked me where i wanted to be seated, i ordered there pumpkin cream starter with shrimps it was delicious and my entree was the risotto with prawns, the bread and butter bought to the table was also fresh and delicious, the chef also sent out to start a mushroom cream that was also very tasty, the reason for the three stars was because of the service, my waiter was very attentive to the people sitting across from me and wasnt so attentive or friendly with me, the server named magdelena who was working the other table kept coming over to make sure i was good and that i had everything i needed and was so sweet, food is delicious, prices are good, but there approach wasnt the best. will not return. read more

All the food was incredible, my guess is stick to the simple things, we got bolognese carbonara lasagna and some bruschetta, seriously all were to die for. We ate like kings for 6 adults and it was $190 euro (with $50 of it being wine) Cons: not many, being American i noticed the waiter had too many tables lmao but i could care less! 3.5 stars We had a pretty good meal at il Chiostro. The lasagna was just OK. The risotto with mussels was way too salty. The house red wine was terrible. So why such a high rating? First, the service was excellent. When I didn't like the house wine, they took it back without charging me. And most importantly, their lemon cake was heavenly!!! This was a good restaurant, but not great. I owe the fact that it showed up as #1 on Yelp to the fact that Amalfi is one big tourist trap and you should not expect too much. Other reviews raves about the "spaghetti pasta" which shows me this person does not eat in the same places I do. The food was ok. In any other area they would be put down. In Amiori, I'm not sure the would have made it: too many Italians eat there. I ate the fish skewer, swordfish was a bit dry and the shrimp over cooked. My wife had chicken scallopina, which was good, the sauce a little too sweet. Her carpaccio was very dry and our local wine should have been poured out. We were sports and drank it anyway. read more

They explained that they had a big problem in the kitchen and were really nice about it. I ended up with 5 because the food was great. My boyfriend and I cam here during our stay in Amalfi due to the good reviews and it certainly didn't disappoint. We were the only customers at first, most likely due to the custom of late dinners (we were there at 6:30 pm). We didn't know what to order, but were excited to discover that they had a four course meal either based on seafood or meat, for 25 euros, so we went with that and we were quite full. The total was 57 euros after the cover charge and drinks, but definitely worth it not to stress about what to order. The multiple courses gave us a sense of what was typical of this area as well. Found this place randomly on our first night in Amalfi. Was a bit skeptical because it's a little hidden to the right side of the cathedral (if facing the plaza) and up on a small pathway. We got the mixed seafood with fresh pasta, the warm seafood salad, the spaghetti bognolese, and the spaghetti with clams. Everything was delicious and fresh. We also got the bruschetta capresa which was one of the best I've had. And don't forget to order the French fries. They are so yummy, like having a potato chip and fries and the same time. Whatever oil they fry it in is so light and not greasy! I recommend ordering two portions! Additionally the service is so friendly and fast. I also recommend sitting inside to avoid mosquitos and have access to better WiFi which we needed for our 3-year old. This place serves up some delicious food that will not disappoint. read more

We ordered the prosciutto and melon, caprese salad, lasagna, tiramisu and pear and ricotta cake. Everything was delicious but the lasagna and pear and ricotta cake were the stand out dishes for me. We shared the lasagna and immediately regretted not ordering one for each of us as soon as we had our first bites. The pear and ricotta cake was the perfect end to the meal. Not being a huge dessert fan, it was exactly what I wanted. Not too sweet but the perfect combination of fresh pears and creamy ricotta. Would come back just for those two items. This place deserves a little love. It is behind the main central road in Amalfi, just past the Tavern degli Apostoli, and is easily missed. We just had a wonderful meal of Amalfi anchovies (fried lightly with mozzarella - deliciously light and without an aftertaste), the seafood pasta with regional Sciatierelle (spelling suspect) noodles, Penne Rusinella, grilled lamb chops, and delicious desserts of ricotta cake and lemon cake.
