We spent hours swimming in the ocean and the pool and enjoyed eating out at several cool restaurants, and got coffee every morning at a neat nearby coffee shop. We even took a horseback ride along the beach (the horses go into the water which was super fun). The folks at TC Villas made sure we had everything we needed - extra beach towels, a high chair and crib, etc - they met us at the villa and made sure we were all set and knew how to contact them for anything we needed. The villa had a private gated entrance which was nice. I absolutely recommend a trip here and using this company.

With covid that is a risk as you must test before you arrive and when your leave. (which you need to travel to the island anyway but not all medical insurance will cover the villa rental ). I've always wanted to spend more time in Luquillo, and after seeing the consistently high ratings on Expedia and TripAdvisor--along with its beachfront location--I decided to give it a try. The property itself is older, but don't let that deter you. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing stay. I loved the balcony and watching the ocean from so close! Beautiful sunrise too. Check-in is more laid-back, so don't expect a traditional front desk experience with someone always present. That said, the communication was excellent. I really appreciated that they reached out via text ahead of time to ask about my arrival--it was a thoughtful touch. I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time (as I had mentioned), and there were no issues at all. When I rang the bell, a staff member promptly came out to assist me and greeted me with a warm smile. There's also a very popular restaurant and bar on-site with an amazing-looking menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to try it this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. The location is another big plus--easy to find, right on the beach, and conveniently close to a Walgreens and other nearby beaches to explore. Swinging in a hammock, listening to the coquis, and looking up at the moon through palm trees full of coconuts..... Rooms were simple but more than enough. Clean and nice. The property really makes you feel like you're out in the jungle... away from civilization and yet still completely safe (a rarity on the island). Short drive to Fajardo, El Yunque, or the Luquillo kiosks. Breakfast is simple and serviceable, but the real draw here is the laid back atmosphere and beautiful grounds. The owner is quick to shake your hand and welcome you to his little slice of paradise. Highly recommended.

AVOID STAYING HERE BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!!…read more While I am aware of how hard the travel industry has been hit due to Covid it is saddening to see that customer service has been affected this greatly and my party and myself will not be returning to stay at Hix accommodations around the world. This is why... My party and I unfortunately had the worst experience when we stayed at Hix Island House in Vieques and strongly advise potential vacationers to book at other accommodations in Vieques (Such as El Blok). We felt that the listing on Expedia where we booked our stay through was very misleading since none of the amenities mentioned were actually available, such as the pool and yoga. The property felt like a ghost town with us only being able to communicate with the manager via phone as even reception hours were inaccurate. In addition, the only other guests staying at the time mentioned they received an email that the pool was broken and we were never communicated until we brought this up to management. To make matters worse, my friend had an injury happen at Hix Island House in the horse floor fence. While it had a sign to hold onto the rail, there was a pole sticking out of the wall that the rail was on which made my friend have to walk around the pole and have her fall through the fence. While we booked for 2 nights we only stayed one night after this ordeal and when we requested a full refund due to all the reasons above, the hotel through Expedia only approved a partial refund. Even after pleading our case to why a full refund should be given no acknowledgment/ at the bare minimum an apology was made by management of Hix Island House or Expedia.

We loved it and would stay there again in a heartbeat. (FYI we booked our room at the Dream Inn via AirBnB; it looks like some of their rooms are listed there by the owners of the boutique hotel, and others are available directly through their website.)
