The staff at this location is always super helpful. And if they aren't sure how to do something they get an answer from someone who does, quickly! The chicken cordon bleu pizza is sooo good, the chef salad is amazing and the honey rye bread is the best! Try The club sandwich on honey rye! Love this place for sandwiches and come here every time I'm visiting. My problem with the latest visit... Person taking our order was actually hunched over with their chin on the counter while taking our order.. Looked as if it was the last place they wanted to be. We had a party of 7 and the only large table was taken. We had to move 2 tables together, which was fine. We were 1/2 done eating when the same person who took our order came and asked us, in a cranky tone, to put the tables back when we were finished. They made us feel as if we did something wrong by moving them. Were we not supposed to sit together?? Friendly staff is a must if you want people to come back. Village baker has some good food. But almost every time I've used them to order it hasn't been great. If you are using their website to order and put a name with each item, it won't show on the restaurants side. I know it's not their fault, but something needs to be done to change that. I use them to order for work lunches often, and every single time, there is something wrong. The don't add the pizza to your order, they don't make sandwiches correctly, they forget to add drinks or treats, etc. Today I ordered a club and provolone with no tomatoes and a southwest salad. I CRAVE their honey white bread - it is the best consistency and such a perfect sandwich bread! Pro tip - you can get it "thinly sliced" if you don't want too much bread! Was in the area and wanted some sweets and also a breakfast sandwich. When I asked for the bread to be sliced paper thin I confused them. The cook even came out to ask me how I wanted my sandwich? Told him "cut the bread as thin as possible". Sandwich comes out which looked to be very thick and had cheap American Kraft cheese slices instead of cheddar cheese. Yuck! At least the meat and cheese were both decent as I trashed the rest of it. The day old cinnamon roll was only $.99 and still tasted fresh, the lemon bar and rice crispy were also decent. Somehow I had this down as another Corner Café, or other pre packaged fast casual corporate restaurant. It's not it's a local chain pre packaged fast casual restaurant. Hmmm. That said, it's better and can stand on its own. I've not tried a pizza, but the wife and I had very food sandwiches. I can argue that's a fairly low bar after being raised in a Jewish part of Chicago with proper sandwiches. This is the UC. And with that as a caveat, it's a good sandwich. I'll be back. read more

I don't like to leave bad reviews because they can harm a business. everyone can make a mistake. however when a mistake is made and is never made right then an honest review must be given to warn others. We ordered this cake and a couple cooks. I was ordered through a deliver service and this was our first time ordering from this location. the deliver service wouldn't take care of the issue because the order had been filled on there end and urged us to contact the store directly. we did and no attempt was made to rectify the situation. I will not force someone to make a mistake right or get upset I just won't return. so unfortunately I will not be back to this establishment. I would have given Village Baker 3 stars if it weren't for the fun vibe inside and the fact that the pros outweighed the cons for me: PROS: -Really clean (this may just be because it's new, but they have a fun ambience). -The garlic bread with cheese was INCREDIBLE. Just missing some ranch dressing lol -Plenty of seating for slightly bigger groups -Their cookies are delicious and they're also MASSIVE which is always a plus. They were having a sale for their anniversary where cookies were only $0.79, which I was all about..I love a good deal haha CONS: -The single slice of pizza I would rate like 2.5 stars. I wasn't impressed. -Their ice maker in the soda machine was out of ice, and the water was lukewarm. I saw this location when I was driving through PG and almost lost my mind. I love Village Baker and now there is finally one close enough for me to go during my lunch break! I took a group of friends from work during lunch and it was definitely a hit. They have a great variety of sandwiches, soups, and pizzas. I love their BBQ chicken pizza because they don't overdo the BBQ sauce and it has pineapple on it (yes I am one of those crazy people who loves pineapple on my pizza). If you are getting pizza don't forget to order some garlic bread because that stuff is GOOD! You can order a pizza to share with a couple people or order pepperoni or cheese by the slice. We especially love the honey wheat. When you walk in you have to walk past their wall of delicious baked goods on your way to the register. Don't try to resist. Grab a cinnamon roll to enjoy and thank me later. A thick and fluffy roll with lots of icing slathered on top! Okay, I'm salivating just thinking about it! Skip the cookies. They have pizza and soup options along with their delicious sandwiches, the star of which has to be the cranberry turkey. Today I enjoyed a bread bowl with their daily soup: broccoli cheddar. I didn't expect it to come out looking like a pumpkin, but it was absolutely delicious!
