​ My first experience with Village Coin was after I checked their hours online and headed there only to be greeted by a sign saying the store was closed for vacation. A call to their number said "closed our hours are" and then listing the hours for that day. I'm all for taking a vacation but update your hours online and update outgoing phone message. I left my name and number for a call back when they were back and never received one. Very poor communication.Once I got there during open hours the owner was very rude. He wouldn't answer my question about a coin the was sent out for valuation. He kept saying there were no reports and that encapsulating the coin is what was ordered. That made no sense at all since the request had been for a valuation. He kept raising his voice and asking me why I was being difficult. I didn't raise my voice but I was persistent in my questions . I felt he had sent the coin out for the wrong service. He called the police because he thought I was difficult and he wanted me out. Thankfully the male officer was able to get the answers to my questions. He had sent it out for grading, encapsulating is done to protect the grading/valuation and surprise of surprises...there was a report that verified the coin and gave an estimated valuation. Once I had answers, I paid the bill and got my coin. It should have been an easy transaction.If he hadn't been rude and evasive about answering my questions it would have been. After reading other reviews it seems rudeness is a running theme for the owner. read more

I do not recommend doing business with this dealer Will not buy from again. Did a online order they sent me only half the order without any notification. When I phoned them they said sorry we sold the other items but sent you the rest. Do so.e notification would of been appreciated so I could've canceled the order altogether. The customer service is excellent, and coins are always in the advertised condition and at a great price! if anything is out of stock, they let me know before shipping my order so I can select another or other items. Don, the owner, is knowledgeable, friendly, interesting and engaging. I went to have a "coin" identified and learned a lot. He immediately saw a ring of symbols around the circumference that make it a calendar coin and with a little research on his part deemed it to be Egyptian and very old. Went there twice. First time I spent over $400 dollars on coins. On the way out, my 7-year-old son saw gimmick wooden nickels for $0.60. Dom the owner could have just let him have one and I understand he could charge 60 cents but after me spending 400.00 why couldn't he just throw it in to make my kid happy? It's future business. Second time, I went to buy an uncut sheet of 50 one-dollar bills. He advertised it in his own catalog for $101.99. When I went to pay, he looked up something on his computer and said the price in the catalog was wrong and charged me $114.50. That's false advertising! I think this is a great shop to find what one is looking for. I went to find the dollar presidential coins and they had them. I think the price he sells them for a very good. I find neat foreign coins there too (at good prices). they have a lot of neat coin related items there. My brother has been going there for awhile and he likes the place too. read more

He is very kind and treats new comers buying just a few coins with the same respect and interest as he does the customers making big purchases. I went to inquire about selling some gold Platinum palladium and silver coins and the owner was very abrupt and aggressive with me questioning if I was actually the owner of the items and then inform me if I wanted money I should go to a bank, he's only a dealer shop. He deals silver and other precious metal coins. I was looking to sell half and convert the rest two other in-store items but after my experience I suggest avoiding here. read more

Amazing customer service! Better than I could have expected. I am a regular (though only once or twice a year) customer. Shipment was lost by USPS (or stolen from my front door). They completely replaced the items that were not delivered without question - didn't even ask me to pay for shipping for replacement order. I cannot recommend them enough! read more
