This time there was a pumpkin patch with a DJ, drinks, a photographer, ice cream, and other treats -- fun for both kids and parents. So many photo spots and such an aesthetic atmosphere. Over the next few years, it continued to grow into one of South Florida's premier luxury malls, with Bloomingdale's opening in 1990 and Saks Fifth Avenue following in 1991. Burdines closed in 2004 as part of Federated Department Stores' corporate consolidation and was replaced by a two-story Nordstrom in 2006. Sears, one of the mall's original anchors, permanently closed on February 29, 2024. This was my first visit to The Gardens Mall, and everything about it exuded luxury. Parking is plentiful and free. Inside the elegant fountains and water features, lush faux floral arrangements, and sculptures scattered throughout the mall lent themselves to creating an upscale atmosphere. The shopping lineup is equally high end with designer boutiques like Talbot's, Coach, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany, Lilly Pulitzer, Chanel, Gucci, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, and many more. When it's time for a break, the elegant Gardens Café food court offers quick service favorites like Chick-fil-A, Shake Shack, and Charley's Philly Steaks. I especially loved the mural that wraps around the food court called A Story of Florida. It depicts Florida's earliest history of indigenous people and the arrival of the Spanish and ends with a space shuttle taking flight. Full-service restaurants include California Pizza Kitchen, Cooper's Hawk Winery, P.F. Chang's, and Brio Italian Grille which all have sit down dining options. I liked walking around the mall and while I don't generally shop luxury brands I did check out the Hallmark and Yeti store. I would come back for a bite to eat and to take in the beautiful surroundings. Even if designer labels aren't in your budget, it's worth stopping by to window shop and enjoy the tranquil vibe while taking advantage of very appreciated air conditioning, which is so vital this time of year.

While they do have a nice selection of the stores including Macy's, American Eagle, FYE and the like, and a movie theater, but the atmosphere was not the greatest. There was a little bit of a sketch factor when we went, including lots of teens acting like fools and causing disturbances throughout the mall. I'm talking about being obnoxious and yelling, cursing, getting in people's way, playing music as they walked around and generally ruining the atmosphere for us and for the store owners too I'd imagine. Aside from it being horrible optics, it was really annoying. I also did not see any security nor any police on the premises, which made me think twice about whether it was actually safe or not. It's probably fine but who knows? Overall, I probably give this mall three stars. It's got a good selection of stores and plenty of parking too. However if I go back and it's the same story, I probably won't go back again. Stop by and judge for yourself!

Street parking was a bit tricky and saw the parking patrol officer nailing a bunch of cars with tickets. I was told to wait until after season due to congestion, so we listened and came on a weekend. Most of the stores were empty of customers as we walked by. Worth Ave has every pricey big brand purse store including of course Gucci, Louie Viutton and Chanel. But we came here to visit the beach at the end of Worth Ave and it was "worth" the trip. I recommend the couple streets just off Worth Ave to visit like the Colony Hotel and the Brazilian Court where they offer classy bars with stiff drinks, food and some humans. My opinion is dont bother with the stores unless you like to burn money.
