Well, I quit going there two years ago after they failed to install ball joints properly and I had to take it somewhere else after paying them $1600. And two years later, they're still costing me money turns out they put the wrong lug nuts on one wheel. They used to tapered nuts. Which in return cost me more time and money. I would stay away clear of this place. They were great 10 years ago, but the last few years has been nothing but disappointment and incompetence and lack of very poor mechanics. I took my truck for a turbo repair, I went to pick my truck up and they said it needed to be extensively road tested before I could pick it up so I picked it up the following day. Had my payment ready and they wouldn't take my payment... then 5 days later realize they had messed up and expected my to still have the funds readily available. I'm a college student and it put me in a very difficult position. And to make things worst I took a road trip to North Carolina and an hour into the trip my engine light comes in a the turbo fails... Not only have we fueled up at this corner gas station, but they also have a service station where we've taken our vehicles in for service from time to time. Their certified mechanics know their way around an engine! And they do State Inspections. Access from either Patterson or Three Chopt is a breeze with plenty of space to maneuver and several pumps. They can be on the high side for this area, but this is a clean, nice business with attentive customer service. There's no convenience store or car wash... but they are community oriented as they feature book signings, poetry readings, art shows and other events from time to time. Never going back. Charged me almost $300 in labor to replace a battery. Difficult spot but Jay tried to tell me the book said 2 hours to replace. Called VW dealer and book rate is 1 hour. Did a $65 charging system test that I did not ask for. Place has totally changed since prior owner. Used to get lots of work done on all the family cars. No more. Last year when they said I needed brake pads replaced. had plenty of life (over a year before they really needed replacing) Total rip off and they don't care. Find a reputable shop. read more

Found they would have charged $1000 for a part that didn't need changing when inspected by another mechanic. Also used incorrect parts for a simple oil change which caused leaks. According to second mechanic, this business has changed hands recently and clearly no longer retain the standards of the previous owner. read more

This gas station is fancy. As in, I'm originally from New Jersey and moved down here in summer 2017. Since then, I've pumped my own gas on the reg. This station's machine tripped me up a bit because it's so flashy. It'll talk to you while it pumps. And it has an electronic face. (Am I making myself sound really old right now?) Once I figured the machine out, gassing up was a breeze. It's in a safe location and right on a major intersection, but I didn't find it difficult to enter or exit the station. It was also convenient for picking up takeout bottles at Corks & Kegs, which is yards away. Prices were maybe three cents higher than some other stations, but still well in the bounds of normality for current rates. I'd visit again if I'm in the area and low on gas. read more

This Exxon really isn't bad at all. I've gone here a handful of times in the past two years to get oil changes and one car inspection and have not had any serious issues with this place. I've never been over charged or felt ripped off. The mechanics here are honest and complete the service asked of them with reliability. The only issue I've had with this place is the service, one time I called to make an appointment for an oil change and was told they don't do appointments you just show up so I showed up the next morning and was asked if I had an appointment because they were really busy. In the end I had to go somewhere else to get the job done. Another time I came in and they were unsure if they could service my car for an oil change, first they said I would have to drop it off and return later but then another employee said no they could service my oil change right now. Again, I have not had any issues with the actual projects here. They seem very trustworthy with their prices and "mechanical skills" so that's why I keep coming back. read more

They do oil changes, put air in tires, fix leaks and even recycle unused oil and gas. They patiently answer all my questions and will take on any problem. I would gladly give ZERO Stars if it is possible. And here are the reasons why: I have been using this place for gas regularly for past five years. So I know this Exxon very well. If you want to just get gas, this is just like any other gas station. But if you want to get something fixed or do yearly inspection done, DON'T GO THERE. few months ago I went to get an inspection done, they came up with six different issues and said it will cost about $2,000. I was shocked; I mean I had no problem with my car at all. It was running smoothly. So I got suspicious and went to another store and they replaced two tires, adjusted the breaks and I passed the inspection. It cost only $400. so somehow I received a call from the owner, Jim. Think this may be due to responding to an email newsletter about my earlier experience listed. however i went in and recounted my lovely experience and expected to receive the same condescending attitude, but was pleasantly surprised with the genuine apology equipped with financial return for my trouble. Even though it was almost a year ago and I believe I spoke to Jim when event happened and was referred to Warren, the auto shop manager, I am always one for giving second and sometimes third chances. He did tell me how they have been around for quite some time and I have a friend who can verify that because she has used them. So mistakes definitely happen, but just glad that at least Jim, if not Thomas, could take some responsibility for that. Customer service is the key to any business and I personally have shopped in stores that were either out of my normal price range or maybe out of the way because of great customer service. My husband and I have been taking our cars here for at least 8 years since being refereed by a co-worker. I can't say enough wonderful things about Village Exxon. The most important thing is that i TRUST THEM! I've never felt like I needed to question them. Unfortunately, I have felt this many other places. I have also never gotten the dreaded "women" treatment here. They also have this fabulous monthly mailer that goes out with coupons and tips, puzzles, and jokes..Recently, they have introduced a reward program. I haven't had a chance to see how this works but will update when I do. If you are lucky you will get to meet the in house diva "Princess". She is a small dog/diva that hangs out in the lobby and if you are fortunate she will greet you with her presence but don't hold your breath. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have been using the mechanic service here for over 5 Years. They are honest, reliable and affordable. When my Jeep had a transmission issue, Village Exxon staff brought to my attention the possibility of it be covered by warranty, worked with the Jeep dealership to get the warranty issue repaired and then did the rest. They could have easily done the entire repair without me realizing that part of it could have been covered. A small town approach in a big city, I love this place. read more

New in RVA and wish I'd found this place sooner. There are certain business types that are hard to find when you're new, and a mechanic shop is one of them. First of all, they have offered me lower price options when they could have tried to gouge me; even when I admitted that I know nothing about cars and have to just believe what they tell me. Second, they have just been consistently friendly and helpful, to both my self and my child, at the kiosk by the pumps. Third, they make it easy to drop off your car when it's convenient for you and easy to pick up. It's great, and hard, to find a trustworthy and convenient mechanic shop. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because they're not open 24hours and I once tried to get gas from them in the middle of the night and it was a no go. Bummer. Wish I could give 4.5 stars instead of just 4. Bonus though, they participate in "toys for tots", and I salute them for helping to make the world a better place for all the tiny humans out there. After she left the shop she noticed a filter cap was missing... as anyone would do she called the business back and asked if he knew where it was or if he could replace it since it was there before he serviced it. Would highly recommend Village Exxon! My son, who is a UR student, brought in our 2004 Ford Explorer. The "Check Gauge" light had been on but then went off. My husband and I, who live in PA, told him to get it checked out anyway. The result was that Village Exxon couldn't find anything wrong with it and there was no charge! HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Slowest service they always ask you to leave the vehicle there because they are so busy but you can clearly see the guys in the shop drinking coffee and goofing off. I took my wv there to get an oil change the next day it was leaking oil. I called and if course wouldn't take me so I went somewhere else. It cost me $80 and a whole new oil and filter because the jackass that put it on "pinched the gasket". The next day I called them and explained what happened and they refused to do anything about it. I tried to give them another chance recently because it was just a state inspection on a brand new car and thier location is convienient. Again I got denied and rudely by the lady at the front desk that had a very frantic loud yippie dog that obviously isn't well behaved enough to hang out at a shop. DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

I believe they abuse the Virginia state inspection process in an attempt to increase their business. They failed my vehicle for three trivial matters related to lights and mirrors and recommended costly repair solutions. Another repair shop was able to fix the minor issues and pass the vehicle for inspection at a fraction of the estimate provided by Village Exxon. read more
