Update: The manager Mike called me so we can fix the issue. He was very nice about it. I went to Allen tires a month ago because my car wouldn't start. They did a full "diagnosis" and told me the battery cable was bad. They fixed it for 200 dollars and now a month later the car still won't start. I will NOT be taking my car here anymore! read more

I went there for state inspection and oil change and my experience is good.Due to covid I wanted to avoid exposure and they helped I put car there unlocked came back home and when ready picked up with contact made payment by phone.They said they were gloves and place plastic sheet on seat when they inspect. read more

They do good work but I set an appointment to wait for my tire to be patched at 10am. I waited 40 min before they even got my car in the bay to get started. The young man who finally took my car in had been talking to another customer whom he knew for he entirety of my wait, I was left wondering if they were that busy or if the person supposed to be working on my car was just distracted. Why allow for the setting of appointments if you are not going to service the car at the time set? Allen tire has wasted an hour of my day and the manager, noticing my distress, avoided me until my car was done and gave no semblance of an apology. Will not be returning although the work done was good, just don't have that kind of free time. read more

I have been dealing with Allen tire for at least 10 years. I trust them .They do not try to up sell .Several times they actually told me I did not need something done when I asked a question.It is possible to make an appointment and wait for things like oil change, The service guys give good explanations regarding car care. I have never been surprised by a charge that had not been thoroughly explained to me. It is easy to drop off car and ride bus to downtown. They have been helpful when tire pressure light would come on when the temperature changed. I brought car in for a quick tire check since I purchased my tire there. Just had 60,000 mile check for very reasonable price. read more

Brought my Honda Pilot here for my annual state inspection. I also asked them to check out the tires, since the Honda dealership had told me that I needed to get my tires replaced right away. The dealership quote seemed high to me, so I didn't do it yet. So I asked the guys at Allen Tire to take a look at those as well as do the inspection. 20 minutes later the inspection is done, and the guy tells me my tires have another two years, maybe three, left on them. I'm shocked...this is the guy that makes his living selling tires! I love that kind of honesty. The guys are super courteous and professional. From the guys at the desk taking my order, to the mechanic who came out to talk to me about my tires. Also, sitting there reading my book waiting for the inspection, I got to hear them interact with other customers. They treated every customer like they were best friends. It was great. read more

We at Montana Gold Bread Company had a vehicle melt down this week. One delivery car was running very poorly, and the other had a tire blow out. Asking Allen tire to do what ever possible to get our vans back on the road ASAP, they got us back on the road in record time, a excellent job done on the vehicles, and all done with a smile, not to mention very courteous! I've been an Allen Tire customer for the last 10 years. The Forest Hill location has serviced all 3 of our vehicles, and they do a great job. They do regular maintenance from oil changes to inspections, and when a repair is needed they get the job done. These guys are awesome. On occasion, I receive a $10 off coupon, and on a regular basis they thank me for my business. They're honest, and guarantee their work. I want to add to the 5 complaints that are already posted here. I made an appointment and went in last month for a $16 state inspection. They found 2 burnt-out light bulbs and said it would be $37 to fix. Fair enough. I said I would replace the lights myself and bring the car back for a re-inspection. At that point they seemed offended that I didn't want to give the work to them. They said filing rejection papers was a lot of trouble, and did I really want to put them through all that trouble? It took them an excessive 35 minutes to write up the rejection and give me my car keys back. It took me 20 minutes to walk to the auto shop next door, spend $4.50 on replacement bulbs, and replace the bulbs myself, no tools needed. When I came back in immediately for re-inspection, they said their inspectors were all busy, and it would be at least a 6-hour wait. They might not even get to it that day. After prolonged disagreement, I finally looked up Virginia state law on my phone and quoted it to them, which says re-inspection must happen "without delay" or as soon as the current inspection is finished. They looked up the same law in their own inspection manual. Half an hour later, they finally completed the re-inspection. They waived the $1 re-inspection fee, as an apology, I guess? The dollar was not worth the hassle! read more

I've purchased tires two times from this place. I had random tire blowouts and the guys always took me in immediately without an appointment. My tires are rare and must be ordered but the work they do is always complete the same day I call. A mistake was made on my receipt and the employee who made the receipt called me personally to apologize. I have one more tire to replace I'm certain I will purchase from this location again! read more

I went to Allen Tire Inc for a $16 state inspection and they quoted me a $400 bill for repairs. They failed my inspection for headlights and suspension, BUT the $400 repair bill had Absolutely NOTHING to do with reasons why my car failed. The front desk clerk reassured me that the repairs must be completed to pass inspection, which is a LIE. Allen Tire Inc treated me like I was a dumb, clueless woman with endless, unnecessary money to spend :-/ read more

I have been doing business with Allen Tire for the last few years before we moved to North Carolina. A few weeks ago, the original power steering pump that Allen Tire had replaced in my 2003 Trailblazer EXT last year failed again. I had it replaced by a local shop and sent an e-mail to Allen Tire complaining about the pump failure and asking for a rebate. The day after I had sent the e-mail, Billy Allen called and after a short chat, he said that I would be sent a check to cover the cost of the replacement unit. Three days later, I received the check! I was pleased with their service while I was living in Richmond--I am even more pleased that they obviously care about their customers after-the-fact. I had a leak in one of my run-flat tires. Took it to Allen Tire and within an hour they fixed the leak with a patch and rotated my tires. I took advantage of their tire protection plan which includes rotation, balance and repair for the life of the tires. At $15 per tire, this a a great value. Highly recommend their services. read more

I had the luck to talk to Gary about my run flats on my Mini Cooper. Run flats ruined my Mini experience. Gary was really knowledgeable and experienced with the situation. Overall service is good. People are friendly and they get the job done promptly. The 3 out of 5 stars is for pricing. I had a lot of work done on the car and one of the front head beams was out. It was total of $40 to change a bulb! My old mechanic used to do this for me for free when I had an oil change or other service done. Sent a friend here to simply get an annual safety inspection on my car. When I called to check on him, he says "oh, everything is fine, they are changing the oil." WHAT! I reply..."yes, he checked the oil and it was dirty, and the manufacturer recommends synthetic oil, so that is what they are putting in." I told them to stop immediately, but they already had the oil drained. My car has automatic oil sensing and was no where near a required oil change and the manufacturer does not recommend synthetic oil. It was obvious to me that they saw my friend as an easy target and tried to jack up the bill that day. Because they already had the oil drained my inspection cost me $57 instead of the normal $16. Be wary of these guys. read more

I'm a middle aged woman and went in to renew my inspection sticker for my 2012 Honda Civic with 66,600 miles. This location was close to work and they offered to drive me to my office and pick me up once my car was ready. When I went to pick up my car, it had a new 2018 sticker on it but told me I needed brakes front and rear, rotors front and rear, transmission flush, brake fluid flush and air filter, all to the tune of $906.73. He stressed that I only had a very little bit of pad left on my brakes so should do it quickly. I then took my car to my regular mechanic who serviced it yesterday on 3.8.17. Here's the story: I DIDN'T need brakes, rotors, a transmission flush or an air filter. He did charge me to take off each tire to check the brakes which still have a year or more of life to them, he did change the brake fluid as he said brake fluid mixes with water and can rust your brake lines from the inside out and since my car had +66,000 miles on it I should go ahead and do it and he changed the cabin (pollen) filter not the air filter as that was in great shape. The bill was just under $200. Why are people so dishonest? How do they sleep at night? read more
