BUYER BEWARE - especially women! So, I don't like to write…read morenegative reviews, but I feel compelled to write this one because honestly, this situation made me really angry the more I thought about it and I feel it's important to share with other women who may consider having their vehicles serviced here. I am selling my 2007 Honda that has been very well maintained and has been one of the best cars that I have ever owned. But it has about 200k miles and I felt it was time to get a newer model. On my suggestion, I met the potential buyer (another woman) at this Shell station where she had arranged to have them do a "courtesy check" (which was in itself $134). Upon inspection, they found an oil leak. I rang my boyfriend (who is a mechanic) to ask him to come and look at it. When he looked, he said he felt that the leak was minor and could likely easily be fixed. But I could tell that Shell mechanic was irritated. They told the buyer that they would write up an estimate for repair. Later as I was returning from moving the car into a parking spot I walked into a conversation that the mechanic was having with the buyer stating that the car was going to be nothing but problems for her and that my boyfriend was a "complete idiot and had no idea what he was talking about"! They had also produced her with an estimate of over $3,600 worth of work that they were suggesting should be done to the car before she should even consider buying it!! When I reviewed the estimate, it included a new timing chain kit, air filters, polishing the headlights, tie rod ends, a license plate light bulb a valve cover gasket set, and a few other things... NONE of which were actually wrong with the car but Shell felt like could go wrong at any moment! The oil change repair was not even included in the estimate! When I asked a second time if any of these items were damaged currently, the man at the desk said no, but they could go at any moment. He suggested I dump the car or try to sell it to a dealer. Needless to say, the lady didn't buy the car. I went home and looked up the price for a new Timing Chain Kit with Water Pump and was shocked to see it at Advance Auto Parts for $137!! The same part that Shell was charging $1,436.66 for and an additional $1,000 in labor!!! I also read that most timing chains last as long as the engine does... which is beyond 300k miles with a Honda! I then called Halls (who does much of the service on my car) who said that the timing chain on my car was in good working shape and was just inspected a couple of months earlier!! In looking back through reviews here, this seems to be a common practice with this service station. Whether they are rejecting an inspection and claiming there are significant repairs that are needed or overinflating problems and prices to line their own pockets! I'm sure this review will receive some response claiming to validate their position. But my advice to you, is to go somewhere else...unless you like being called an idiot, or being treated like you are a dumb female or paying them money for the sake of paying them money! There are plenty of service stations that will be HONEST and will treat you professionally with respect, so save yourself the aggravation (and a substantial amount of money) and go elsewhere!!

They were nice and fixed my car's issue quickly which I appreciate. I do feel like they upcharged…read moresome for the labor, considering how fast the job was. Ultimately a lot of the time one has to take mechanics at their word (unless you're a car expert yourself) and while I believe they were honest and diagnosed the problem accurately it did seem too expensive.

Don't walk away . . . run. Unless money is no object. Consider this a Public Service Announcement…read more The facility? Very nice. Clean Bays. Looks great. The staff? Very friendly and courteous. Very nice waiting area and 'free' Christian Brothers branded water bottles. Most people understand 'free' things are not actually free . . . that includes the water bottles and 'free' courtesy shuttles. I took my 2010 Mustang there to have the rear brakes repaired - due to a frozen caliper. The 'Diagnostic Test' was $165, which I paid and then took my car out of there as fast as I could. The cost quoted for repair was ludicrous, so I asked if I could supply the parts (I am a former Auto Parts Manager, so am comfortable with this) - they said sure - the quote for just the labor . . . $631.91. Note - the book time for this is 1-1.5 hours. I declined and took it to another shop . . . $280 for labor and that is where the work was done. As mentioned in some other reviews, the 'free' (there's that word again) 'courtesy inspection' came up with every conceivable 'flush/fill' and things like Spark Plug replacement ("due to age of vehicle") even though I replaced them myself a month ago. Total for all the 'courtesy inspection' items . . . ready . . . ready . . . $8,255.59. How about a few more examples: Replace License Plate Light Bulb ($74.50) - I actually just took care of this myself before sitting to write this review ($15 for the pair and about 10 minutes taking my time), Replace Front Struts (parts cost $250 and labor book time 1.2 to 1.6 hours for both sides) . . . $1,456.38. Replace Cabin Air Filter (part cost $15 - labor book time 0.2 to 0.3 hours or 10-15 minutes) . . . $132. Replace valve cover gaskets (part cost $20, labor time 1.5 to 2.5 hours) . . . $632.20. You get the idea. Outrageous pricing . . . but the 'free' bottle of ice-cold water was excellent!

This was, without question, the worst experience I've ever had with an auto repair shop…read more My car was towed here because it wouldn't start. Before anyone even looked at the car, they decided my key fob was the problem. They took it apart with screwdrivers and pliers despite me insisting the whole time that considering the symptoms it would be nearly impossible for this to be the reason my car wasn't starting. I did a quick google search that proved this and showed them but they dismissed it and were determined to get the key opened.....Once they got it open they told me the problem was someone had "glued the key closed and the chip in there was corroded by the glue". An hour later, they admitted the key was not the issue and sloppily glued it back together. The dealership later informed me the key is factory sealed and is not meant to be opened. They damaged the casing and did an awful job putting it back together. Over the week, I was given a revolving door of explanations. First it was the fuel pump, then supposedly they were sent the wrong parts, then it was no longer the fuel pump and needed to be reprogrammed. They also told me they put starter fluid in the car and that was why my car was now starting, but the dealership later told me later that same day that there was no evidence of starter fluid ever being used....... They had my car for a week, still had no diagnosis and they initially tried to still charge me a $150 diagnostic fee. When I picked up my car, it had fresh scratches on the hood and trunk that were not 100% not there when I dropped it off. The entire experience was incredibly unprofessional. My concerns were repeatedly dismissed, I was talked over, my key was unnecessarily damaged, my car was returned scratched on the hood and the trunk, and not a single person apologized when I went to get my car. I would not trust this shop with my vehicle and absolutely would not recommend them.
