The ultimate skillet and English muffin

The food was great! Service was impeccable! Ambiance was pleasant and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for anything! We were seated right away, our orders were ready within reason and we of course bought one of the famous Village Inn pies! Love their pies! I had the ultimate skillet with sunny side up eggs and English muffin - everything was cooked to perfection and it was tasty! My husband had the chicken fried steak, mac and cheese, and jalapeño cream soup- everything was perfect and delicious! We are definitely going back and continue to Love Village Inn!

Update 052224 Let me start by emphasizing that we are regulars of this location as others are either closed or now butter smith. On today's date, their internet went down as they were getting ready to close, and the night supervisor advised us as they were closing about the issue with their register not connecting to the internet and that they would only be taking cash. We advised them we didn't have cash on-hand, only cc. She called the GM to let him know about the issue, and our current state with regards to the form of payment. Their GM David, said we would have to go get it from an ATM at a nearby gas station in order to pay. I asked the night supervisor before heading out to get the cash, what would be discounted for the inconvenience as it wasn't our fault their system went down, to which she said she would give me "a pie for free," which I agreed was fair compensation for the trouble and inconvenience. I proceeded to go get the money from a gas station as my bank's atm is nowhere near the location. I went back and paid. The shift supervisor then asked me which pie I wanted? She came back to our table with a SLICE of pie.. My party immediately thought what kinda nonsense is this?? When comfronted about that, she replied, "we are not allowed to give a whole pie for free." Let me be clear this was not what she said originally. They made me waste my gas, time and incur an atm fee to get their money for a slice of pie. Needless to say, we didn't take the slice of pie. That would have been adding insult to injury. I will be contacting corporate about this incident, as I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears or erased by their GM David. On another note, the busboy was more understanding than the shift manager about the incident. Any other restaurant supervisor or GM would have comped our meal, given a significant discount, or actually gone through with what they said they would do to compensate for the inconvenience. It's a shame, this really wasn't about the darn pie. This had everything to do with their customer service, and how it was handled or lack thereof. Added a photo of the tab, so they won't say we were not there.

This Village Inn is following safety precautions during Covid-19. The tables were six feet apart. All of the employees were wearing masks. The employees were also nice and helpful. Dining in isn't at the top of my priority list right now. However, I am glad that this Village Inn is following safety precautions for those who are interested. I spent about 10 minutes in there. I came to this Village Inn to pick up a couple of pies to give my mom for her birthday. No big party or anything like that of course. I was baking her a cheesecake but I messed up the crust! Lol. Luckily, she said she would take a raincheck. I'm on it! :) I was thinking of buying her a cheesecake but I bought her two pies instead. Honestly, she deserves an island of them! She does a lot for me and my family. I chose French silk (a yummy chocolate pie) and a lemon meringue. She enjoyed both of them. I've tasted both of these pies in the past but I didn't have any this time. Will I come back? Oh yeah for sure! I think their pies are reasonably priced. They're around $12-13 each. Since Thanksgiving is only two days away, they'll have plenty of them for sale. You can even get one on Thanksgiving Day here! Aside from offering dine in, they're currently using Grubhub (which you can also access through Yelp) to deliver meals and pies.

The food was a nice change of pace from traditional El Paso foods. Soul food eggrolls: it was like a big spoonful of granny's Sunday meal without overeating. I'd never put greens, Mac n cheese, and chicken together but somehow it worked. Understandably, it wasn't seasoned like granny's to appease the masses, but the sauce on the side elevated the taste. Shrimp and grits: such a New Orleans feel to it, a much try and f you like the taste of grits. Savory and flavorful. The steak skillet was a heaping serving of deliciousness. We definitely got our money's worth and took food home. Eating here was such a pleasant experience, we can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

TVs are located throughout, from various table angles. Our server Alex will receive 5/5 stars for his kindness, attentiveness and attention to not only our table but his very full and frequently sat section. However, when reaching out to other staff members for assistance in his absence, there were some things that fell through the cracks. Missing silverware, condiments not being present, and at times things going forgotten or unnoticed when requested. The appetizer (pictured) Philly Egg-rolls, were the best food option we received for brunch that afternoon. It was shareable between 3 adults and filling before the entrees arrived. I wouldn't order the Monte Cristo Sandwhich again, very large, dry and just didn't pair well with the potatoes and the jam offered (pictured). We did have to switch out drinks due to her taste and upkeep up the beverages. The sweet tea originally ordered did not taste well but received new drinks upon request: Mango and Strawberry lemonade. This is a family friendly place, busy, but I would give it another chance.

I had the pot roast with salad, and had bread pudding for dessert. My dining partners had a chili bowl with corn muffin, a Denver omelette with hash browns and corned beef hash with potatoes, scrambled eggs and added a waffle, because WAFFLES!! Oh and they split a chocolate cream pie. So my salad was amazing, forgot to take a pic. The ranch dressing here is really good. Ripe to and crisp romaine. And nice cucumbers. My pot roast was so tender it was simply falling apart, the veggies under were nice. The gravy was yummy, I had to ask for some extra. The green beans were simply amazing here. And they had corn on the cob!!! Bi-colored, sweet, tender-crisp when you took a bite! SO GOOD. My dining partners liked their food, the Denver omelette was a picture to look at and huge. The only real complaint there was the has was just too dry. It was just shredded corned beef and small cubed potatoes. It needed something to bring it all together, she said. She didn't finish it. The 3 of them split a chocolate cream pie. It looked very nice but when cutting into it, to share slices, that was impossible, it was not set inside, it was very runny. Perhaps the waiter grabbed one that had just been made and not one that had chilled long enough, but they ate it with spoons and loved the flavor. My bread pudding was spectacular. I love Bread Pudding anyway, but this was very very good but the third bite in, it was cold, not just refrigerator cold but super cold. So I called the waiter back over and asked him to please reheat it because it was like near frozen in the middle. Which he happily did and also added some fresh whipped cream for me. So a couple of miscues with the desserts but all in all a nice birthday celebration. MAGGIE, I know you wanted me to email you, on my previous review, HOWEVER, your email address you gave bounced back as undeliverable or not an email address on several email options I have. Just to let you know, I tried. I was going to just come talk to you in person, but today was not the day to do that sort of thing. Could you check and see if your email address is correct? Thank you! Love the BBD! Will be back again.

I ordered the pick 2, half a sandwich, a soup, and chips. I was disappointed in the BLT! They didn't even ask if I wanted the bread toasted, and because it was soggy due to the aioli they added to it; also the big thick slices of tomato didn't help! The half of sandwich was rather small and could be finished in 3 bites. To my disappointment, the 4 bacon slices they added were cold. Seriously? You all couldn't microwave it? Chicken noodle soup was good, but that came in a small cup! Why are you all charging so much for small portions of food? Last time my soup was a good size. Someone really needs to keep those restrooms in check! They were filthy, I expect that from Applebee's or a bar! I think I'll take a break from this place.
