I haven't been to a Cheddar's in years and found myself having a Sunday lunch with my family this past weekend. We were seated in a booth closer to the bar since it had quicker seating and we had no issue with the placement. Appetizers for the fam included their spinach artichoke and frosted croissants. I really enjoyed their spinach artichoke and we all agreed it was one of the better one for a larger chain restaurant. Now I must admit that the frosted croissants were almost a kryptonite to my diet lol. Now for my entree I opted for a 10oz sirloin with a side of mashed potatoes and sweet carrots. I really enjoyed the sides including the white gravy. The seasoning on the steak was a bit heavy but it came out good overall. Service was pretty good and only required a handful of us needing to check in. Overall I would have no issue coming back. read more

Another visit to Cheddars Scratch Kitchen for a late lunch. The host kept disappearing from the podium when I got there, like she was doing other things as well as hosting, and there are usually 2 girls working together so I don't know if they cut to 1 at happy hour or if someone didn't come in or what , but only 3 in line, 2 of them families, and it took a lot longer to speak to the host than it normally does. But I finally did and asked for a regular table not in the middle of a room, preferably in the corner. Then she asked if I wanted a high table as she headed toward the bar, and I said no A REGULAR TABLE. 3pm brought us in time for Happy Hour, so $4.99 frozen or on the rocks Margaritas?? YES PLEASE! I got a frozen which came with a salt rimmed glass, and it was so thick I could turn it upside down like a Blizzard !!! And I got a brain freeze the first time sucking it up in those tiny straws they used, so I traded for a full sized straw and that made it much easier to drink. They were moderately busy, definitely not slammed, mostly empty tables in the place. It also seemed they must have been training a few new servers and probably kitchen personnel because we kept seeing plates taken to the wrong tables, including TWICE they brought appetizers and entree's to our table that weren't ours. And when we told them the person even said, sorry, wrong table. Well duh, we told YOU THAT. Then it seemed to take FOREVER to get our own apps and entrees. I even had to remind the waitperson about 20 or so minutes in that I had ordered a cup of soup. Then she still came back a few minutes later and asked if I wanted a cup or bowl. ‍‍‍ I had already told her twice at this point. My entree was missing lemon flavor and any lemon wedges at all on a lemon pepper fish entree. I finally decided it must have actually been the blackened maybe, it was still good but lacked any lemon flavor on my fish, my green beans which are now blue lake green beans when they used to be Italian or Kentucky wonders flat green beans ... to have the taste they used to have on the old country garden style green beans was weird, they seriously need to go back to Kentucky wonders/Italian flat green beans with this flavor profile. These today would be better with some bacon, bacon grease, maybe some ham and onions and butter. The broccoli was perfectly steamed but needed a little seasoning. The croissant was great. I also had a cup of potato soup, I have not had that in a while, it's petite diced potatoes, skins on, in a creamy broth that they add some cheddar cheese and real bacon bits to. A few shakes of black pepper and it was perfect. The chicken strips were good, you could tell they were fresh and hand breaded. As were the onion rings.. super crispy, hot inside and both delicious. The spinach dip never disappoints, the queso could use a little more spice, perhaps some green chile and more diced tomatoes. It's a lot of cheese sauce. The salsa always tastes fresh made. So a misfire or two in the kitchen and slow with getting the food out, food going to wrong tables or forgotten and needing to be reminded, so service is where Cheddars faltered on this Tuesday afternoon visit. That's why only a 4 star visit today instead of 5. I will say another bright spot is how well the food maintains its heat while eating. I noticed 25 minutes in as I was finishing up my fish and side my food was still quite warm and so were the small remaining amounts of my sides. Many other places I go to my food is cold in 10 minutes and I almost want to ask them to warm it up but then I think that's what happened in the first place. Microwaved food does not hold heat longer than a few minutes, because that's how they work is they just spin the moisture molecules and they heat up but once they stop spinning the are cooling, they aren't heating from cooking. You can tell Cheddars food is all prepped for you when you order it and is grill or steam table or steamer fresh delivered to your table. I appreciate that and have not much of a problem EVER waiting for fresh food. I hope your training in the kitchen and servers eliminate the issues we had today. I will be back... I love cheddars. My son and I were traveling through staying the night at a near by hotel off IH10. There were so many places to choose from in the area but we live in Las Vegas and there is no Cheddar's. We are originally from Texas so we know that Cheddar's generally has great food. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. We got a nice booth and our waitress came and took our order. We ordered the fried Wisconsin cheese curds for appetizers and they arrived with these buttery, sweet, flaky honey butter croissants. They were delicious. The cheese curds were delicious also. Hot and cheesy, these little bites were heavenly. Definitely not one for your waistline but so good! Both my son and I ordered the chicken tenders but I got my classic tenders with the fried shrimp and he got his tossed in hot honey sauce. They both came with ranch but I wasn't aware that we could choose our side. I love them with white gravy. I can say we don't always know the menu and this is where service comes in. Our waitress was nice and friendly and did her best to be attentive. When she couldn't because she got seated a large table shortly after we sat, someone else came to drop off our food and to go boxes. I really appreciate when the servers know to ask what kind of sauce or offer the extra and don't just assume. The tenders were good. The hot honey sauce was super good. It was far superior to the ranch so I asked for a side of that. My shrimp was good but all the batter just fell off. A few of my shrimp didn't even make it to me with the batter. At least I could see they were cooked. My loaded baked potato was good but the thick and creamy broccoli cheese casserole is something else. We both really enjoyed that side. First, if I was just rating the food it would be much higher. I got their steak tips which was very good. The ribs were fall off the bone, and the chicken tenders for the kids were great. However. We had broken glass underneath our table, from before we got there. It had not been cleaned up. My youngest grandson cut himself on it. They did provide a band-aid and antiseptic. The manager apologized profusely, and comped the kids meals. Not happy with the result. If it was just the food, I would give them a higher rating, but because of the issue with broken glass that was not cleaned up, I have to give them 1 star. read more

We often eat at Cheddars after church but evidently there is a new cook. My food was so spicy I couldn't eat it! And I mean, even the green beans! My favorite, salmon had sauce so spicy my tongue burned after the first bite. I mentioned it to the server but he just shrugged it off. I doubt I will go there again. Best. Ribeye. Ever!! This steak was hands down the best I've had in El Paso in years. It was a perfect rare, flavorful & beautifully trimmed. I'll never order steak anywhere else again! Chicken pot pie was huge & to die for too with a heavenly crust & piping hot. County fried steak was another winner. Sides of Broccoli cheese casserole, red beans & rice & loaded baked potato's equally delicious and served piping hot. The staff are all pleasant and very professional. It's a lovely restaurant and mellow atmosphere. Cheddars is my new go to place for dining out. read more

The good is friendly staff that greeted me immediately upon sitting at the bar, unlike the neighboring restaurant (BJs / see my other post). Stephanie R. was very friendly. I had a beer in my hand in about 2 minutes. Downside, not a cold glass. Draft beer in a cold glass is best. Stephanie worked really hard but they need a second person because this bar area is big. As for the food, the beer battered shrimp were good, but the steak was not. If I have to put anything on a steak, like A-1, there is something wrong. All a steak needs is salt and maybe some butter, but this steak was bland. No salt, no pepper, no flavor. Now, the red beans and rice were good, so there's that. Not a good experience using the online ordering and curbside pickup. I order a family bundle at 4pm. The order was supposed to be ready at 4:30pm. Fast forward 35 minutes later I finally received my order at 5:05 after watching other cars show up after me and get their food first. The employee delivering the orders even stopped and asked me if I was waiting for a n order. I mean what do you think I was doing waiting in my car in front of curbside #5 for the last 30 minutes? Seriously?! And after getting my order, not an apology or any way of making up the fact that I received poor service. Upon getting home I received two personal sides instead of family sized sides! So for some reason I didn't take a snap shot of my chicken cajun pasta I had as my meal or the watermelon margarita that came with it. But luckily i got a picture of their crescent rolls with honey butter drizzle which were excellent! We went on a Sunday evening which was probably a better option for service. We got a table right away but it was one of the tall ones which kinda blows. No matter though since we were ready to order already. We tried to ask for a different table but were denied any other booths that appeared to be reserved. Noted. Chicken cajun pasta wasn't anything to write home to mom about but it was good. However, the bar really needs improvement -- they don't have basic ingredients for classic drinks, and when they do make them, it's done with little effort and nothing like what you actually ordered. You know what...I've always been a fan of Cheddar's. It's not this 5-star spectacular restaurant, but man I really dig it. So much that I wanted to introduce my family to or after our wedding. We brought the kiddos for the first time to this location and had a great experience! Everyone found something on the menu that they enjoyed. They fancied the strawberry lemonade. And the croissants...qui qui! Excellent (with French accent) per usual. Classic! They don't take reservations so we weren't sure if we'd be waiting long, but we weren't at all. this is the 2nd time this has happened to my family. Yesterday we went to celebrate my brothers birthday, my parents checked in at 6:50 pm and let them know it will be a wait of 40 minutes. We waited over an hour and the hosts kept telling us the table was being cleaned and almost ready. It was 8:10 by this point and still hadn't been seated my parents asked to speak to the manager and she came out with a very condescending attitude. Gave us a tour of the whole restaurant and gave us excused as to why we waited so long. Once my dad began to speak to her she started giving "I'm listening but I'm really not" mamona faces and that's when we said let's go. We're gonna get shitty service and most likely gonna spit in our food. The last time this happened to us we did stay and eat but we finished eating at 10:30 at night. This place is not accommodating to big parties & does not take reservations. Keep that in mind next time you want to come here to celebrate your birthday. Can I just get one good experience here like back in the day? We went Saturday afternoon and got seated quickly. But it took about 15 minutes for the server to get our beverage order. She gives us our appetizer and 20 minutes later she shows up to take our order and I had to remind her she forgot my friend's drink. Like who does that? I ordered the roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I started cutting into one piece of chicken, it was pink in the middle. I cut into a piece of chicken and there was still blood and down to the bone! So I sent it back and they had to remake my order and took about another 20 minutes. The second time the chicken was nice and brown, not pale, cooked properly, and tasted good. After that incident the sever was more attentive, but this was the cook's fault for trying to poison my ass with undercooked chicken. The free carrot cake I got for my birthday was delicious! This was surprisingly very good! We saw it off the freeway and when we saw the word 'scratch' my husband and I said, let's try it out! I opened up my yelp to view the pics of the food, who else does that?? I honestly got Cracker Barrel vibes from viewing the pics. It was about a 25 minute wait but we didn't mind! It was soft on the inside and flaky on the out with a delicious honey butter on top. Needless to say, I broke my diet. We ordered the cheese bites , and so so yummy!!! Very addictive. My husband ordered the Monte Cristo and I ordered the half rack of ribs with coconut shrimp with green beans and broccoli casserole. My toddler had the BBQ chicken off the kids menu. My husband loved his Monte cristo! He said he would rate it a 4 out of 5 only because there was a little too much dough for his preference and not as crisp. I tried it and omg, so good. The dough reminded me of a doughnut. My ribs were pretty good! I wouldn't say the best I've ever had but still pretty darn good. My coconut shrimp was so yummy and crispy! One was a little too overcooked but thats ok! My broccoli casserole was ok. It was missing something, maybe seasoning? My green beans were ok as well. This is my second review of this restaurant in 2 years. I haven't eaten there since March of 2019. Today we went there for lunch. We got there at 1120, so roughly about 20 minutes after opening. We were placed on a waiting list for a virtually empty restaurant, with a 10 minutes wait. We waited outside, as more and more people poured in. We were finally shown to our table at 1135. We placed our drink orders: raspberry lemonade. 5 minutes after, the server informs us the "lemonade machine is broken", so we order raspberry tea. How is your lemonade machine broken 30 minutes into the service and you don't bother to let your staff know? When he brought our raspberry tea, we placed our order. I ordered the Monte Cristo and my husband ordered the grilled shrimp Alfredo with a Caesar salad on the side. Our food was delivered. First, the Monte Cristo. I figured I try something different, since I've never had a deep fried sandwich with sprinkled sugar and raspberry preserves on the side. It was good. But why did they have to sprinkle sugar on the fries? Next, the "Alfredo with grilled shrimp". The shrimp actually NEVER touched the grill. It was steamed and had a LOT of bay seasoning on it. They might as well have dipped the shrimp in it. It was so much, I could smell it and it was inedible. Usually the pasta for Alfredo is linguine. Figured there must be a shortage of it, since we were served penne instead. A vague trace of Alfredo sauce that looked like milky water on the bottom of the plate, mostly raw broccoli and this was the meal they charge $13.99 at this place. It is scratch kitchen alright...scratch the bottom of the kitchen and dump it onto a plate, and call it food. I know that with the masks on our faces, sometimes we are hard to understand. However, when we asked for a side of Caesar salad, we were not wearing a mask.You know what they brought my husband instead of a salad? A side of Caesar dressing...Me thinks the server, 20 minutes to an hour on the job was already mentally checked out and didn't bother to check with the customer. A side of Caesar salad doesn't remotely sound like Caesar dressing on the side. This was a very, very disappointing experience for us. First time here. Despite the covid restrictions and limited menu, we really enjoyed our visit. We ordered the queso and the honey butter croissants for appetizers. The queso was standard tasting. The croissants were delicious and served warm. The honey butter was perfect, not to sweet. I ordered the ribeye and it was flavorful and juicy. The broccoli casserole tasted home made and cheesy. The tenders my daughter ordered were really good and crispy. My son had the burger and was pleased with the juiciest patty ever. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. I ordered a apple kiwi margarita and that came nice and strong. We will definitely return again. read more

It may not be the not-hot soup. It may not be the crummy croissant that seems like it was once frozen. It is probably not that the bartender has more than he can handle. It might be that the bar only has one salt and pepper shaker set and the pepper didn't have a lid (no sh@t). It definitely might be that the brooms were stored at the inside corner of the bar two-feet from the patrons. This place needs the attention of some professional restaurant managers or something. read more

Got there early before the lunch rush. Friendly hostess, prompt service. The place is new so it was still clean and attractive. The cheese curds were yummy as was the chicken wrap. Hubby loved the pot pie. Croissants were tasty and a different bread option. Buttermilk biscuits are still my favorite though. I have to say that the coleslaw was EXCELLENT! Next visit I am getting double slaw. It was really getting crowded as we were leaving. That is always a good sign. Had no idea they had been open for three weeks or I would have tried them sooner.
