Mark, the night manager, always goes above and beyond to make sure the store runs smoothly and customers are happy. He's friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about the community. It's a very busy location, just one block from the beach, and while the parking lot can get a little tricky (tourists sometimes come in through the exit!), it's worth it. For its size, this small store is impressively stocked with a great selection of fresh foods. The store is always clean, the produce is beautiful, and every member of the staff is so helpful and kind. We're so grateful to have this gem in our neighborhood!

Here is what you do: Char four tomatillos in the drippings, add sun-dried tomato, a splash of tequila, squeeze of orange; that's your salsa. Warm the refried beans in the same pan. Crumble cold cotija over the beans right before serving; salty, dry, and sharp enough to cut through everything warm underneath it. Guacamole is already waiting cold on the side. It's a smaller type farmers market, but they have everything that you need. I found some of the yummiest granola's and of course West Coast olive oil is one of my favorites. They even have a homemade doggy treat person that makes yummy products for your pet I also love to hang fresh eucalyptus leaves in my shower and they have some of the fresh eucalyptus bunches. And of course, delicious mango honey.

For a store like Gelson's, I expected the prepared food bars to be much better maintained. The fact that it was only noon and the food already looked this dried out and unappealing was especially disappointing. It's not the largest store, only one aisle of frozen goods, so you have slightly less variety than other, larger locations, but I've never had any trouble getting everything I need. But this store? Four different varieties for $5 a pop. Wooooooooooooooo! Score! That alone makes this at least a 3 star place. But coupled with specialty spices, dressings, and REAL CANE SUGAR ROOT BEER, how can you go wrong? When I'm in town again, I will stop by to grab some more scone mix and maybe a marinade, so I can feel like I'm a master chef.
