Love this place!! If I was to call out the best part of this supermarket, It has to be their customer Service. You will always find a very attentive staff, very polite, always willing to help and it feels like you are among friends when you go there. Whoever is doing the recruitment and training over there, must be given full marks for their effectiveness. The place is always busy, local Wiltoneers pouring in and out and it has everything from Veggies to milks, to meat, to Deli items and even cooked food. The food is always fresh and you find them restocking newly prepared food throughout the day. Everything here has a feel of freshness and the quality is consistently good. Besides grocery, I love their quiches and even the sushi is excellent. It's great as I live nearby , but if you are in the area, do benefit from this local Grocery store. read more

Over the years I have lived in Connecticut, I've used this store on and off to shop. It's not a big store, but there is definitely a community feel within those who shop here and so you kind of get a feel for how the town of Wilton is as a community. Based on my experience, this place has come in pretty clutch for me from time to time, and this has especially been true for me this year. So in the time I have come to shop here, I feel very comfortable in giving this 4 stars. It's the right rating for this place because there's a lot of good things you can buy here. Sometimes you will have sales on certain items that might save you a little money. But now we get into 2 reasons why I can't give this the full 5: this place can get OTT expensive real quick, and not everything they offer is actually worth buying. Some of the prepared meals like the spicy tenders or the grilled chicken you can just tell is processed to oblivion just from one look at it. So you definitely need to be careful what you buy from here. That being said, there's a lot more here that is worth buying than not. Their baked goods for example are quite good, and the breads are actually pretty good quality and worth the extra cost. Some of the things I have learned to cook come out a lot more delicious when buying groceries from this place. For example, I've recently learned how to make a Philly cheesesteak, and the ingredients I get for it largely come from right here at the Village Market! Same with Mac and cheese. And even though some prepared foods don't hit the mark, the ones that do are actually really good. Lastly, remember how I mentioned this place has a community feel? This is due in large part to the customer service in this grocery store. They are always warm, welcoming. It almost makes me feel like I'm one of the family in Wilton even though I live an hour away. All in all, great place to shop as long as you can afford it. Just don't get everything from here and mix in other cheaper places too. read more

The quality of their homemade items and produce is great and the staff is always very helpful and friendly. I do most of my shopping here because the small, family-owned, easy-to-navigate store is so much less overwheming and an overall better experience than the Stop and Shop down the road. I just moved to Wilton 3 months ago and was introduced to VM (yes we use this moniker) by a friend. I'm honestly blown away by the quality of the prepared foods, deli and bakery items. Each time we've tried a new item it's been magical and delicious (strawberry shortcake to carrot cake to curried chicken salad, chicken noodle soup to sushi, the list is endless). Coming from SoCal this is such a jewel and so convenient for last minute dinner, lunches for the week or for when guests come over. Village Market is clean, easy to navigate, and a great selection of fresh items. I live in Weston, and it is convenient to anyone living in the neighboring towns. This is a special little market in our town of Wilton, CT. Since we moved here in 2000 and I discovered it for the first time, it has always been one of my favorite places to shop. The produce, seafood, meat, & poultry are always fresh. The deli offers great cold cuts, cheeses and salads and even sandwiches made to order. The variety of prepared foods are made daily and are great options for those who want something healthy and quick to heat up. The cashiers and other staff are always friendly. What's great about Village Market is that it is small, yet packed with everything you want & need, making your shopping trip quick & easy! I just purchased and enjoyed the most amazing sushi grade tuna and swordfish from this market. It was so fresh even my husband enjoyed it! ...that's equivalent to a 10star rating. The fishmonger was SO helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to help me with my order, which he does everytime I'm there. Small & easy to navigate market. A big plus is that is well staffed, especially with cashiers, so checking out is never too long. Though the deli counter at the workday lunch can be rather hectic. The main downside here are the higher prices, whether it is chicken, steak, cereal or ice cream, you will end up paying 10-30% more here than at chain supermarkets. So personally, I just stop in for lunch or the ocassional deli meats or 1 peice of protein to cook for dinner. Not a place to do the bulk of your grocery shopping unless you are a high income earner. read more

I'm giving Village Market 5 stars purely in gratitude for the fact that their prepared deli salads are not only delicious but most are also free of my biggest food enemy - the dreaded red onion. This may seem like a small detail, but it's a really big deal in my book. Village Market is the best. It's a classic small town market with a neighborhood feel. True Story: In Dec 1973, my parents had a 3 year old and 4 day old (me). Their house burned down to the ground in an ice storm. They lost everything with a brand new baby and a toddler and no savings and nowhere to live. So my mom goes to get a couple of necessities at the Village Market. The owner of the village market says, "We heard what happened. You get everything you need, for as long as need and you pay us back whenever you can." And they did. So we shop at the Village Market. Sure Super Stop and Shop is cheaper. But no one a Super Stop and Shop gives two shits about whether your house burned down. As a bonus, they gave me my first job as a cashier. read more

You almost have to review it as 2 different places. The deli has a nice selection and if I have to get ready made food, I would go there for sure. The grilled lemon chicken was really good and I like the sandwiches while the hubs doesn't (based on 2 orders). Flower shop is comparable to Stop&Shop though the quince branches were $13 each. Ouch. But as a supermarket it is so expensive. I sympathize with being a small business next to Stop&Shop but marking up products as much as they do is hard to accept. For example, American Flatbread which costs $7.99 at S&S, is $10.99 at Village Market. Lifeway yoghurt is likewise 2-3 dollars more for 4 pouches. Even taking into account the rent, insurance etc it seems like a lot. read more

I started working in Wilton Center about 2 months ago and I absolutely love this place. I've seen others reference pricing complaints, but coming from Southport center I can attest the pricing is much better than I expected and there is a much larger selection. Food is solid, people are friendly. I can always find what I'm looking for. You can pick a sandwich as the deli or they typically have prepared sandwiches that are excellent. I can get in and out of there in mere minutes for lunch. The only advice I have is for any first timer is that the cashiers wear street clothes...so go to the right! When its even slightly busy its not obvious which side of the register you go on. Seems simple, but it took me a few seconds to realize who was a shopper and who was the cashier. You'll see what I mean. But if this is the biggest problem...then they are doing a whole lot right! read more

Although this store can be pricey, it is still very good. The meat, product, prepared food products are excellent. Cashiers are intelligent and helpful. I don't shop there all the time, but when I need something for company (like Christmas dinner at my house), I'm there for all the fixings. They must have the best turkey in the world...it's from a small farm in Branford, CT and costs about triple a Butterball, but this bird has flavor! They will accommodate you for special orders. I've been shopping there for 20 yrs now and am totally thrilled. Although their hours are limited, it must be great for the staff to be able to get home and have a life. I've had to rearrange my busy schedule to get there to do some shopping but it also gets me home earlier. As a smaller store, they have a great selection (some prices are high), but you can get in an out of this store in a few minutes. read more

Village Market used to be my go to spot for sandwich and kale salad however over the past few months the deli department has drastically declined. They consistently serve stale bread and make sandwiches not as ordered. The kale salad is also not the same. Today it had big chucks of stalks in it and we couldn't even eat it. Be careful when buying prepared food items at the Village Market. Be very very thorough in reading the teeny-tiny print that tells you ALL of the ingredients. Ingredients that logically ought to be in the large print often are not. You're in rush, trying to pick up something on the go, which what that part of the store is for, right? And then you pay, go home, and damn that delicious looking thing you bought contains something that either you or your child is violently allergic to. Yes, of course, it's my fault for not reading the ingredients thoroughly enough, but when you're paying that much for something (and, believe me, they're EXPENSIVE), the least they could do is put the iffy items in the BIG PRINT. You pick up penne in vodka sauce. You don't have either glucose or diary issues, and the only other other visible ingredient is peas, so you go for it. Turns out it has pancetta in it (in the teeny-tiny print--isn't that kind of a major item not to mention in the big print?). Next comes itching, hives, cramps, and relentless diarrhea. Good thing I got to the bathroom and managed to throw up in time. And the rest of it? Well, into the garbage it goes. So, I'm not blaming the store, because reading the label thoroughly is the customer's responsibility, but just now that if either you or your child has any allergies, make sure you scrutinize Village Market's labels thoroughly before buying. Here's an analogy: Walk into the frozen food section, perhaps to where the pizzas are. You either can't or don't eat pepperoni. So you see one that's labeled: FOUR CHEESE PIZZA Then you get home only to realize that in teeny-tiny print it also says: pepperoni Nope, sorry, guys. PEPPERONI needs to be in big print, because a cheese pizza with pepperoni on it is A PEPPERONI PIZZA! read more
