I wish I could give 0 stars. I chose his office because his reviews through Aetna are high. After…read moreseveral missteps and unprofessionalism with his office, I will never return. As a provider, he's average and the interaction was awkward. 1. The front office staff felt like their curse-word infused, personal conversations were more important than checking me in, waiting 5 minutes as they chatted as I stood in view. 2. Dr. Paxton was 1 hour late to the appointment. I should have left at this point. 3. I was very specific about getting a preventative, physical exam and he said "They don't pay me to perform wellness exams" which led me to ask "should I be here then?" and him assuring me I should be. Uhhh okay? 4. The office incorrectly billed my insurance and they blamed my insurance for processing their codes as outside of my covered services which led me to having a bill when I shouldn't have. Their billing person is conveniently located remotely, so you can only get ahold of her if she calls you. This seems a little intentional. I filed a formal complaint/appeal with my insurance as I found this visit a waste of my time and money filled with unprofessionalism and billing errors. I've never left a doctor appointment more disappointed than when I left Dr. Paxton's office.

I took my mother here for her immigration medical exam. Before scheduling her first appointment, I…read morewas told the total cost would be about $800 if she did not have vaccine records. I was informed this price would include all required vaccines, including any that required double doses. On our second visit, there was a miscommunication regarding the charges from the first visit, and I realized we had been overcharged. Although the clinic eventually provided paperwork and receipts for both visits, the final total came out to $1,200. This was very frustrating, especially because I chose this location specifically due to being told it was more affordable than other offices. In the end, other locations actually cost less than Clinica La Familia. If you are coming here for an immigration medical exam without vaccine records, be prepared to pay around $1,200--not the $800 you may be quoted initially.

Before Dr Celaya I tried many clinics and always felt like a problem that needed treatment according to the formula of a corporation. I really feel seen with Dr Celaya. She takes the time to listen to my concerns, explain my condition in a way I could easily understand, and answered all my questions thoroughly. I felt very comfortable and confident in her care. The receptionist, Priscilla, also takes the time to know me and understand what I need before and after each visit. I highly recommend Dr Celaya and Clinica La Familia at 35th avenue and Baseline Rd.

These doctors are AMAZING…read more Not every experience I have had here has been stellar, but every time I've had an issue, it was addressed immediately and it has never been held against me or used as a basis for retaliation. I am really picky about my health... I'll only see female doctors, I'll only see somebody who is experienced and certified/licensed in the specialty... I'll usually only see somebody who is around my age and who has a stellar academic record. I'm pretty demanding. I found this place when I first moved to AZ in 2012, and made it my medical home. My regular PCP is here (Norgaard) but from time to time she's unavailable and I'll see another doctor (usually Gwisdala or O'Malley). If I call and need to be seen the same or next day, they're usually able to get me in with a resident who is supervised by one of the attending physicians I am usually seen by, anyway. Bobby (another reviewer) points out that they do a lot of referrals. That's definitely true... but here's the thing. My PCP is an internist - she specializes in overall wellness... she isn't an expert on every aspect of every organ system and disease. I'd much more prefer she tell me she is unsure but that she knows where to get the answer than I would she render inadequate or inappropriate treatment. These people are so remarkably compassionate, understanding, patient. I have some pretty serious health issues and some that I blow way out of proportion, but they listen all the same. Not only that, they take me seriously and they really care. That's the part that blows my mind... it's not just about the payor source - it's about the person. I have had private insurance, AHCCCS, and no insurance and been seen at this office and treated with respect, dignity, and compassion every single time - without fail. THIS is what healthcare is supposed to be like. My physician and I are a team, and I seriously couldn't ask for a better teammate. If you want to go to the doctor, have everything fixed, and get mediocre-at-best care, go to a family doctor... they're first-level providers. They're not bad, by any means, but they're they're to keep you well and make sure you don't die before you have to. If you have a potentially complex medical history, you're going to need something more... this place provides that, and they do a damned good job.

I had been a patient of Dr. Newman's office for years, but my recent experience has been incredibly…read moredisappointing. It became nearly impossible to reach the office. Messages through the patient portal went unanswered, and phone messages were never returned by her assistant Alondra. As a diabetic, I had to wait over a week after my lab work to receive medical advice and have my prescription sent to the pharmacy. Delays like this can have serious consequences for patients with chronic conditions. After years of being a loyal patient, I've decided to find a new provider. I hope the office improves its communication and follow-up because patients deserve timely care and responses.

It…read morewasn't long before I realized if you have a complex medical history he is not the doctor for you! I have no idea why I stayed so long other than he was close. Once he came into the exam room and told me he could hear me wheezing from across the hall but of course he did NOT address my loud wheezing. When I left his office I immediately went down to the 3rd. floor to my pulmonologist office. After seeing a intake nurse my pulmonologist saw me immediately (I refused going to the hospital since I have 20 yr. old cat & didn't know anyone I'd trust taking care of him yet)! My last, last straw came last year when I had FINALLY found a interventional radiologist who has the expertise and experience to remove a 10 year dwell time IVC filter and I requested a referral to see this doctor. Dr. Hernandez refused even after I showed him the emails between this Dr. and me. Believe it or not, Dr. Hernandez thought the emails were from a scammer even though the emails came from Banner Anderson hospital. I even showed Dr. Hernandez the email after this Dr. had pulled my IVC filter scan and said my IVC filter legs was embedded in my IVC!!! I came out so upset/near tears one of his office staff came over and asked the problem. Once I explained she offered to go talk to him. Praise God, she came back with the referral I requested. Since this was potentially a very dangerous situation in a week/after getting my ins. approval I was in surgery getting my embedded IVC filter removed @ Banner Anderson hospital by the Dr. who Dr. Hernandez 'claimed' was a scammer! Need I say after that I found another PCP! Let me end by saying, if you do not have a serious or complex medical history by all means Dr. Hernandez maybe a good Dr. for you.

I am very impressed with Dr Hernandez and how he took care of me and made me feel very happy. Drs like this are hard to come by, Thank you Anna Maria from Dr Warren H Heller's office (the ophthalmologist) for referring me over. Dr Andres Hernandez is truly AMAZING, Erica and Patricia accommodated my appointment Thank you girls .
