The facility looks nice, with courtyards and rooms for activities, including a nice theater. There are a few great caregivers who genuinely care about residents.
However, it's clear that many employees are there for the paycheck and turnover is very high. My mother has been subjected to rude comments because she needs help with some daily care that she can no longer do for herself. Each shift seems continually short staffed.
Management has been a revolving door, with at least 11 Executive Directors in two years, with one lasting 8 months and another less than a month. The current ED, Fabrice, has no customer service skills, and I suspect will be gone within two months. When they actually had a nurse on site, they soon left.
There is supposed to be a chef, but most of the time there is none, and the food is often terrible - uncooked veggies, dry chicken, etc. Desserts are usually good.
The maintenance man is great, but the facility will not hire outside contractors to fix things. So, he is so busy all the time. Consequently, maintenance problems are not handled in a timely manor. Sometimes, we fix issues ourselves. Air conditioning issues are ongoing, resulting in oppressive heat for residents, yet they won't replace failing systems.
Activities are hit or miss, depending on the Activities Director. But, there's virtually nothing for them to do on the weekends, and they are very short staffed at that time.
Expect dramatic rate increases - our last was 20%. The attitude from management was, "if you don't like it, leave."
When we first moved in, this was a well-run facility. Today, this is merely a cash-cow for Aspenwood, the management company. They don't care about your loved one. They just want your money.
