The 99 Ranch has completely redesigned itself to be one of the most modern and pleasing Asian shopping experiences in the Greater Houston area so there's that... And then the further good news is that there are now a whole host of great businesses in here that you would definitely want to check out given the chance. Let me give you some examples. So there is a fantastic 85 Degree Bakery here and of course their products are remarkable and wonderful, and then you also have a poke place which has really great fish products and drinks and whatnot which is called Papa Yu. And then there is a good Viet Boba shop called Golden Oolong which can be hit or miss but is very popular with kids, as well as Pho I-10 which is authentic Viet food. All in all it's a wonderful Plaza and a total go-to destination when you're up here. In fact it's probably my favorite Plaza in this area of Houston.

I visited the Marq-E recently to attend an IMAX screening of director Ryan Coogler's movie…read more"Sinners," which was shot primarily for presentation on IMAX 70mm screens. Initially, only 8 U.S. theaters were showing it in 70mm format. And the only such IMAX screen available in Texas is located in Dallas, Texas - at the Webb Chapel theater. To make the film, Coogler utilized two different aspect ratios - the ultra wide 2.76: 1 (Ultra Panavision) and 1:43:1 (IMAX). I think the former is the more rare of the two, and the latter is more standard. Marq-E just has basic IMAX, and I think it is kind of perplexing as to why there are no 70mm screens in Houston or Austin. Even so, I really enjoyed watching the film at Marq-E. The acoustics, seating, atmosphere, vibes and visual presentation were all top notch. I also thought the theater was really clean. The only down side, for me, is I wanted a hot pretzel and none were available. (Haha!) Overall, though, this is a theater I would definitely recommend.

Interestingly, it divides Bellaire generally as follows: Commercial to the North of it, Hispanic to the West, and well-to-do homes to the South (the triangle's "High-pot-in-use" only occurs occasionally, when students from the high school much further south park in the lot at night). Opened in February 1959, and the basic sign is still in place. This shopping center history is somewhat like that of the Bermuda Triangle, with regard to disappearing things - shops in this case. But unlike Bermuda Triangle, this one is safer, since it is surrounded by donut shops (shaped like life preservers). Clever way to name the mall. Anyways, there are plenty of parking space. This parking lot is well elevated from the street. Meaning, if Beechnut gets flooded, let's all park here. Because it's high up there. The driveways are a little smaller than most strip malls. Just enter slowly and carefully. There isn't an official mall monument. On top of the sign just say 10840 and list a few businesses below. So you know, I like to share my local knowledge. I captured all businesses that are operating. I came to meet a friend for ice cream at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. It costed $9.04. After one hour and 35 minutes, the parking kiosk said I owe $6.50. Man, that's the most expensive ice cream date I ever had. Besides the cost of parking, the courtyard was full of mosquitoes. I got bitten at least 8 spots. I can see them hovering around my friend's face. They sure are hungry for fresh blood. One review said they offer 90 minutes free parking. I really wanted to confirm that. My friend lost his ticket. And he paid $21-ish to get out. If there was camera that scanned our license plates, they should have a better way of handling "lost tickets". I don't know about him. But I'm not likely to return unless they honor the free parking.
