Meyerland has become a regular destination for us even though it's a little bit low rent and a little bit rough around here, however this new plaza looks shiny and new and posh. It's an adaptation of the old plaza, but a very good one. There are some great new stores, and it's been remodeled, and there's a lot of good reasons to come here, such as the Ross and especially the JoAnn which Barbi loves. Not owned by Russ Meyer or Quag Meyer.

My dad also lived in Houston and we'd often do shopping or eating at the mall. My daughter (who is now 30) loved (& still does) skating at the ice rink during the holidays. It's a magically fun experience. The Galleria is always incredibly decorated for the holidays. I still get to Houston 1-2 times a year and always enjoy visiting The Galleria. The Galleria itself has not only the ice rink but office space, two hotels, lots of places to eat, and shopping. The retail offerings range from shops like H&M, Macy's, and Nordstrom to high-end luxury shops like Gucci & Chanel. We were there just a few months ago and it was just as fun and exciting as my first visit! Gang, there are so many stores here. Like crazy amounts (a few hundred). It's very large and easy to navigate and of course gets extremely busy during peak times. A must-visit for locals and tourists alike.

Even without scoring any purchases, the Houston Galleria remains an impressive destination. The moment you step inside, you experience bright lights, multiple levels of stores, and a steady stream of shoppers that create an energetic, bustling atmosphere. Beyond shopping, the mall offers entertainment options such as its iconic indoor ice-skating rink, making it easy to spend an entire day there. One of the Galleria's biggest strengths is its variety. Luxury retailers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton share space with more accessible brands such as Banana Republic and American Eagle, offering something for nearly every budget and style. Whether you're on a focused shopping mission or simply window-shopping, there's plenty to explore...even if, in our case, we left empty-handed. The dining options are equally diverse, ranging from food-court favorites to sit-down restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory and Shake Shack to Chic-fil-a. While we didn't find the bargains we were hoping for, our fast-and-furious shopping adventure was filled with laughter and great conversation, and the kind of fun that comes from spending time with good friends. The building itself has a large, open industrial style interior with plenty of natural light, which gives the space a distinctive feel. There is a lot of room to walk around and explore and since it wasn't particularly busy during our visit, we were able to take our time looking through everything without feeling rushed. There weren't any events happening while we were there, so the overall atmosphere was fairly quiet. I could see the appeal of coming back when there is an event happening, as I imagine the space has a much livelier energy when it's being used for its full range of activities. We primarily went to check out the POST Market, which has a food court style setup with different cuisines and food options. (I'll be reviewing each of the places we tried separately.) The selection was varied, although I wouldn't describe it as particularly extensive. Unfortunately, the food experiences we had were consistently overpriced and underwhelming, which made the overall trip feel fairly uneventful. This was probably one of the more disappointing aspects of the visit. Considering the market wasn't particularly busy when we went, I was surprised by how many tables were sticky or visibly dirty. The washrooms were also in fairly rough shape and could have used more attention. The condition of the common areas was noticeably below what I would have expected from a venue of this size. Parking was convenient and free for the first hour, with charges of $6 applying after that. Overall, POST Houston was a pretty average experience for me. The history and character of the building, along with its open industrial design and natural light, are what stood out most positively. Based on our experience, I wouldn't make a trip back specifically for the POST Market. That said, I'd be interested in coming back for an event to see how different the atmosphere is when the space is busier and there is more happening. Hopefully, more businesses continue to move into the space as well, giving people more options for shopping and dining and creating a livelier overall experience.

The value is up there in price... we are talking the $$$-$$$$. Parking: paid street parking, free retail garage parking. Shops: most of the luxury name brands you can dream of, are stationed in this district so if you plan to treat yourself, this is the place to do it.
