We recently stayed at the 7 bedroom home for a family reunion and my in laws 80th birthdays. The house was so roomy. The kids and adults had a ball in the game room. We made big family dinners every night. Two full size fridges for all the food we brought. We played pickle ball outside on property. Very close to town. We rented a boat and took the family out. Took the kids to the zoo. Also I left my travel jewelry box there after we left. I called Melissa and one of the cleaning crew turned it in. Melissa mailed it to me and I just received it with all the jewelry in tact. I'm forever grateful and would highly recommend their prompt customer service. If I could give 0 stars I would: Our experience with this Airbnb rental over New Year's was beyond terrible. Despite paying more than $XX,XXX, the home was extremely outdated, and the bathrooms were non-functional after they had mentioned everything has been recently updated. Out of five families, each with multiple children, we were forced to share one single working restroom--a completely unacceptable situation for the price we paid. We contacted the management multiple times, yet nothing was done to properly address the situation. The worst part? They promised a refund but are now refusing to return our money, holding it hostage instead. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. There are properties that are not only a million times better but also don't gouge you with ridiculous prices or scam you by withholding refunds. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I stayed at a cabin that's owned by a friend and is managed by VRS. The cabin was fine, but trying to get information about the cabin itself was super frustrating. No one returned my calls, I sent numerous emails months beforehand. And it wasn't until I used the 24-hour emergency service that I finally got a response the day I was checking in (kudos to the patient woman that answered this line, I think her name was Connie). Connie was able to reach the two other women, but the reception was spotty and it took a while to get my questions answered. Definitely avoiding any cabins managed by this company. read more

I rented a VRS managed property in Big Bear Lake using VRBO. Day I was to travel they sent an email at midnight giving a new address than the one I had prepaid 3 weeks before. No explanation. New location was a dump. Eventually I learned the property I had rented the owners had showed up and I would have to stay somewhere else. Their replacement property I ended up trying to stay in was filthy, and just plain bad. I am still waiting for my refund 17 days later. Village just told me today I should call my bank and dispute their charges if I wanted my refund any sooner. Customer beware! read more

Washer/dryer is a convenient so you don't have to pack too much clothes. The neighborhood is nice, relaxing, quite, and close to the ski resort as well as the lake. We have been renting our cabins in Big Bear since 1995. During that time we have used several companies. They all start out promising to be the best in Big Bear. Needless to say, they were all talk. None of them cleaned the house properly. The housekeepers are not trained in how to clean and most actually did more harm than good. The housekeepers from one place scratched all of my Stainless steel appliances even though I asked the owner if her staff knew how to clean SS. She said they did but I offered to show them anyway. The owner declined and my dishwasher and refrigerator were so damaged I had to replace the dishwasher panel. I could go on and on about the bad management but I won't. Village Reservations has been wonderful. They constantly ask if I am happy or if I notice anything that needs improvement. They have no problems taking suggestions. Their housekeepers are excellent . The same people clean my homes each time so they know how I like it. I can't believe how many great reviews I have on my VRBO site that mention how clean the houses were when they arrived. My guests have never been happier and that makes me happy. Any time I need someone to check the house or do something a little unusual they do not hesitate. They are always glad to help and are cheerful. They never nickel and dime me. They have good rates, too. I do not use them to manage my homes so I cannot speak to that aspect of their business. I manage my own homes. The housekeepers are prompt and thorough and I would not hesitate to recommend this company for your vacation property needs. read more

This was my first time reserving and staying at a place in Big Bear and I am thankful that Village Reservation made it so easy. Reservation, payment and check-in were all easy and hassle-free. We will be using VRS again for sure. Our group stayed at Big Bear Splash and we were blown away by the amenities in the house. It was updated, clean and felt more like a hotel compare to some of the vacation rentals we have used before. There was an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, fantastic grilling deck and seating, a basketball court, putting green, game room and TVs in each room. The kitchen was well equipped and the furnishings made it feel like home rather than a rental. Our group was just five os us, we each got our own room as the house can handle 16. I will be bringing my kids back next time! The house was close to it all in Big Bear, just down the street from the slopes and up from the lake, there was nothing too far to enjoy what this town has to offer. Great customer service. We were treated by Michelle and she was fabulous. She answered all questions we had, explained everything we needed to know about the place and let us know we could call at any time if we needed anything. We needed to call for one minor repair and they fixed it right away.We stayed at Badger Chalet and the cabin was amazing. It was just as described, extremely clean and perfect for our family. We had 6 quests and we all slept comfortably. If you sleep in the loft remember that the ceiling is angled so you don't bump your head. If you do bring small children (toddler, infants crawling) you need to be careful of the stairs they have openings under each step and it can be hard to keep them off the stairs. You know all crawlers and toddlers love to climb stairs. I will defiantly come back again and use Village Reservations to book a cabin. read more

Absolutely the worst management company by far. I completely forgot that there is YELP for this!!! I hardly ever leave even 4 star reviews, they are all 5 . It takes a lot for me to rate a place with one star only. This company deserves 0 We arrived at Pine Knot Ave to pick up our keys for Butte Retreat (Cabin for rent) in December of 2010. I invited some guests and wanted to surprise them with this amazing cabin. We arrived there way passed our check in time, and when we picked up the keys and drove to the cabin and opened the door.............. Let me just say my chin dropped. They never even cleaned the place after the previous people left. To my embarrassment when I called them, they sent in their cleaning crew 20 min later. Everyone and the kids waited in the car for an hour, and after the cleaning crew left and we moved in..............we discovered that the frig was still full of old left over food, there was dust all over, bloody towels in the bathrooms. Carpet had wet beer stains still on it. I mean these people suck at management. I was so pissed but my guests calmed me down and just wanted to enjoy our New Year's celebration. So we went on to celebrate New Years Eve there and of course as soon as we returned, I wrote a lengthy letter with photos to prove my point. The letter was sent certified mail. I received no answer from them. When I called the office, someone rudely told me to write again and that they have not received my letter. (this is after I explained to her the content of my letter) Would't you just try to acknowledge a customer's complaint at that time and not ask them to write again? I just gave up at that point. I mean the cabin is an amazing cabin do not get me wrong with nice views and everything. THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE : VILLAGE RESERVATIONS JUST SIMPLY DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MANAGE A BUSINESS. Or know what customer service means. Very angry and this was 2 years ago, imagine how pissed off you have to be not to forget such a horrible experience. read more

Worst company ever!!!! I don't believe any of positive reviews are real. Just look them up on the Better Business Bureau website and you will find a bunch of unresolved complaints. Their website boasts a 4 star rating from Trip Advisor but when you click on the link you will find that it's fake...no such reviews exist. I rented a cabin from them in December and they were a nightmare to deal with. We arrived at noon, hoping to check in early. Without even asking which cabin we had, the woman at the desk told us not to come back a minute before 4:00 because it was the busiest day of the year. We came back at 3:30, fully expecting to wait, only to find the office was closed! A sign on the door told us to go to a different office to get our keys. When we go there they made us pay $12 to pick up our keys "after hours". I contacted the office about it the next day but never heard back. I contacted them again and was told they would refund the $12, but rather than refund it, they re-charged our credit card for it again!! When we went to check out the office wasn't open yet, but there was a line of angry people waiting to tell the company off. The cabin we rented was okay, but I would not recommend it because of the rental company. With so many other great cabins and great companies in Big Bear, there is no reason to rent from Village Reservation Service. I could go on and on, but instead you can just do a google search and read the Better Business Bureau reviews. read more

WORST COMPANY EVER. STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY Our family decided to take a trip to big bear lake for the holidays. I proceeded with an order from village reservation services which cost $7000 for 3 days. No pocket change by any means. I receive a call from them 5 weeks before our vacation that the cabin is "unavailable" because it went into escrow. After speaking with the agent...it turns out that's a COMPLETE LIE. They try to give us a "comparable" cabin which is 4 bedroom(our cabin was 9)...I don't know how that's comparable( Ill pass thx). Since then the managers of this company have magically disappeared. I have contacted our lawyer to straighten this situation out. My family is in the process of contacting the BBB and the department that gives these companies their property management license. My recommendation to everyone is to STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

Our family wanted to rent a cabin for the full month of July as our summer vacation. I called many of the Big Bear vacation rental agencies to find something. It was amazing how many times I had to call agencies and either left messages that never got returned or spoke with agents that didn't have a clue. I felt like I was doing all the foot- work to try to rent a cabin. I'm a little confused.... don't the agencies want to rent out the cabins for the clients they represent???? After looking through Village Reservations monthly rentals I called them to find out about a few cabins we thought would work for us.... they went above and beyond to get us the perfect place for the month. They called a couple clients, who owned the cabins, to find out about doing monthlies then would call us back. The staff was very professional and was THE ONLY rental agency that responded and new what they were doing! In the end they put us in a 4 bed 3 bath cabin for the month. We have been here a little over 3 weeks and any time we have had an issue with something they are on it! We will use Village Reservation from this point on. I read some of the reviews here and a lot of negative. I think they either have new or different staff or they have made some serious changes. Seriously they are the best I have found! read more

Stayed at the Big Bear Splash with my Family and Friends. It was our first time going through Village Reservation Service as well and i gotta say it was one our best vacation/getaways in a long time. The house had enough room for all of us. Backyard with basketball court,playground, mini golf, and a hot tub. Also had an indoor pool as well. A game room with foosball, pool table, and ping pong table as well as a tv. The house had a nice "homey" feel and we were very comfortable. House had blankets that made the cold nights bearable. Wow! All we can say is WOW! This vacation home is amazing! HUGE and with all the amenities you can ask for. We came with another family and put the teens and children at one end of the house. When they woke up they went straight to foosball, ping pong or putting green. We didn't even hear them. There is also a pool table, hot tub, indoor pool and basketball court. ALL of which we used! There was no time for TV. The kitchen was spacious and the dining table fit us all. This home can fit at least 16 people. My 5 year old loved the bunk beds. Just bring food! Everything else needed to cook is there. We went end of August and the weather was perfect! This is a great place for family reunion or get together with friends. It was our first time to Big Bear without snow and my husband and I enjoyed the warmth! What a wonderful summer get away. The house was clean and centrally located. We didn't even need to leave the house to be entertained! But there was plenty to do in the village. One morning we went to the lake and the children played in the water for almost 2 hours and didn't want to leave. So relaxing! We met several staff at this rental management and they were so nice and friendly! We highly recommend them! It was a much needed break and we were so glad we went! read more

This is the worst company you can pick to help rent out your cabin. They are friendly on the outside but liars on the inside. We tried to rent out our cabin, but they kept making mistake after mistake. - They took over a month just to get photos together and the cabin on their website. - Then their website was shoddy so customers couldn't check-out and pay. When we notified them about this, they failed to fix the website even when we offered to help fix it with our computer programming skills for free. - They repeatedly mis-charged customers and inflated prices with extra fees they weren't supposed to. - When the cleaning lady came, they repeatedly failed to follow instructions to turn the heating down when it wasn't rented, and we were hit with a huge utility bill. - Worst off, when a customer actually stayed at the cabin, they were delinquent and didn't pay us. It took multiple emails, phone calls, and visits to finally receive a paycheck. - On top of all this, they were terrible at marketing, so while other cabins were renting out through other companies, they failed to do the same. Do not go with this company if you are trying to make an investment on short-term rentals. Don't be swayed by them. They are incredibly two-faced! read more

Village Reservation Service has managed my Big Bear Lake Cabin for over two years. During that period of time I have hardly had to worry about my vacation home at all. Not only do they market and rent my cabin, but they make sure that they guests that I send up there are well taken care of. I especially appreciate the way they take ownership of my home and get creative during non-peak periods to make sure that I have some sort of rental revenue while other homes remain unrented due to the unyielding pricing of other rental companies. We stayed with Village Reservations in late November. The cabin we rented was nice, quaint and had a beautiful view of the area. That said, two stars off for their customer service. Their after hours customer support, who I called the night we arrived was the rudest individual I've ever met in my entire life. She basically barked at me instead of talked calmly. When I stated there was no reason for her to be rude, her reply was "well I don't really care." Oh really? Thanks! The other problem I had was the parking at our cabin. It was inaccessible and management was less than polite. We actually had to knock on the door of a local to ask to please park in their driveway to avoid being towed or getting stuck. Unacceptable! Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! I would recommend everyone to stay AWAY! Unless you feel like running around your entire vacation to try and fix issues with your lodging instead of enjoying your time on the mountain. Everything was fine until I arrived at the cabin I reserved, Cedar Lodge, and the amenities my friends and I were supposed to have weren't working correctly. Read the letter below I sent to the company. I have yet to receive any communications from them to resolve this matter. I'm really disappointed in the company and how they've handled it. To the manager of Village Reservations: I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue I had during my stay at Cedar Lodge this past weekend. I reserved the Cedar Lodge for 23JAN-25JAN and expected to have a spa to use as it was listed on your website as one of the amenities that are included at the cabin. When I arrived at the cabin on Friday night I took a look at the spa and there was no water in it and it was not running. I called the Village Reservations office and requested to have a spa maintenance person come help us fix the issue. A maintenance person arrived but stated that he only performed maintenance on the heating and cooling of the house and not the spa. I called the Village Reservations office again and requested to send the correct maintenance person so we could get the spa fixed. The representative told us that since it was after hours they would have a maintenance person come take a look at it at 9:00 am on Saturday morning. The maintenance person never arrived at the cabin on Saturday so I called the Village Reservation office again. The representative at the office told me that the spa had been broken for over a week now and it would not be fixed until sometime after my stay there was over. It should be noted that I made my reservations on 22DEC, long before the spa was broken, and was never notified before I arrived at the cabin. Since the spa could not be fixed I requested that an accommodation be made to provide the amenities I paid to have during my stay. The representative told me she would look to see if any other cabins with the same amenities were available and would call me back after she looked. I never received a call or a voicemail so I called the office again in the afternoon on Saturday to find out what was going on. The representative told me she had found another cabin that we could move to so I decided to go take a look at it and decide whether it was worth moving all of our belongings to which would cut into our time for snowboarding on the mountain. I had 7 other people staying with me at the cabin. The new cabin fit 8 people and had a spa so I decided to get the keys and find out if my group wanted to move over there. By the time I made the trips back and forth from the Ski resort to the Village Reservations and to the new cabin to check it out it had gotten to late and my friends were to tired to move all their stuff. The purpose of the trip to Big Bear was to snowboard and we didn't want to spend our time moving all of our stuff again. My last conversation with the representative was me requesting to speak with a manager and figure out some way to remedy the unsatisfactory accommodations we had received for the weekend. The representative said the manager didn't work on weekends and would call me on Monday. I never received a call or voicemail on Monday so I called the office again. The representative told me the manager was not in the office yet and she would have them call me once they arrived later in the afternoon on Monday. I never received a call or voicemail on Monday. My friend Brooke who stayed with us at the Cedar Lodge called the Village reservation on Tuesday to try and get in contact with the manager and find out why they hadn't returned our calls. She was told the manager was not in and we should send all of our information on the matter to info@villagereservations.net which is why I am sending this email. I am concerned with the lack of understanding and unapologetic response I received from your staff. I feel as though this situation has been handled unprofessionally and is completely unacceptable. I want to settle this matter between Village Reservations and myself directly but if you do not contact me I will be forced to take other action. I hope to hear back from you today about this incident and how you plan to accommodate my friends and I for an extremely disappointing stay at Cedar Lodge. We stayed at the Ski In Ski Out condo and it was absolutely amazing. We originally booked a home through Air Bnb that did not work out.. thankfully Village Reservation was the company the owner used to manage his home... they got us into the new location and it was amazing. They were so amazing and understanding that we were uncomfortable at the Air Bnb home and immediately changed our location. The condo did not have wifi but we still have service so it was fine, on our second day stay they emailed me saying the owner set up a wifi install prior to our arrival so they came in and installed it which was totally fine. They are amazing at communication and super helpful with anything you need. We will definitely be coming back to them to make our next Big Bear reservation. read more

These pricks pulled the old bait and switch on me. We reserved a lakefront property for an agreed upon price. Within a day they withdrew the full amount and called me explaining how the cabin had been trashed by the previous renters and they couldnt clean it up in time for our arrival... a week later. Needless to say I was suspicious. They said they would give us a "better" cabin just a few miles away from the lake... for the same price. The cabin i rented was a beautiful lakefront property. The one i got was nowhere near worth what i paid and was three miles from the lake. They also charged me a cleaning fee AND threatened to charge me extra if i didnt leave the place spotless.
