We had a peaceful two night stay at the Cozy Hollow Lodge. After an easy check in we parked near our lodge. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable and soft. Our room had a fire place and for $6 we were able too purchase fire wood. The room had very few toiletries so be prepared and bring your own. I loved the porch each room has. I liked that It had a fridge but not microwave. I could hear our neighbors in the other room but It was minor. Same goes for the street noise level. As for myself It did not seem to bother me at all. Outdoor premises has a playground and barbecue Pits. Big plus is that the village is within walking distance. read more

Loved our stay here! The cabin was clean, the jacuzzi was amazing, also loved the fireplace. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Suggestion is to have some coat hooks for scarves and well coats. Maybe replace some of the miniature pine tree decorations with useful hooks. A full bodied mirror behind the bathroom door would be great. Everything else was good and will return! read more

We went to big bear for a day trip but spontaneously decided to stay the night. Luckily we found vacancy here and out of the three cabins we saw, we chose number 1. It was a lovely and spacious room, also very clean. All basic amenities were there including a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and stove in the kitchen. The jacuzzi and fireplace were quite good. Well maintained and CLEAN most importantly. Yes you do have to clean up after urselves, take out the trash and wash the dishes before you check out, but I didnt mind that too much. If you go, do check out cabin number 1, it is the best! This lodge is also 5 minutes walking distance to the village and alpine slide area so thats also a plus! read more

What a wonderful place!! Owned and operated for 15 years by a very nice couple. My cabin was just what I was looking for during my stay in Big Bear. Clean, comfortable, cozy, rustic but with modern amenities such as a flat screen tv, cable with an excellent selection of channels, wi-fi, small refrigerator and microwave. Love the brick wood burning fireplace with excellent written instructions on how to safely and effectively start a fire. Firewood and starters are available in the lobby and at very reasonable prices. I also enjoyed the comfortable queen size bed and ceiling fan above it. The front of the cabin has a small porch with chairs facing the main road leading into town. This is not a luxury resort nor does it claim to be. Rather it is a great place to stay ( parking right in front of your cabin) that's close to town, quiet and in keeping with the mountain environment. My Wife and I stayed here for a weekend. Overall, a real nice place! Friendly staff, easy access, and clean room. We stayed in the queen room with futons. The only few negatives were the thin walls, but I think this depends on what room you stay in, we were upstairs and someone was next to us as well as below us. The people below us also were playing loud music and we had to go down there and tell them to stop, called the property and they also notified them. They were pretty responsive. We also heard people's conversations next door. Also at 5:30am to 6:20am people were moving furniture or something. There are also other detached rooms that I don't think you would have that issue with. It isn't the properties fault though if there are loud people. You can also hear the road a lot because it is right off the 18. They also seem like they've been burned before, they require a deposit (for us it was $200) that is refundable. I didn't know beforehand. They seem to want you to make sure you clean up after yourself or you will be subject to be charged at their discretion. All good for us because we are clean people. But this approach differs from the other places we stayed up here. read more

These cabins are cozy, simple, and clean. The one star is due to the lack of management to have clearly imposed night time noise rules. People in the cabin next door have been loudly partying well into the night, inside and outside, nearing 4am. It's a disgrace the management allows this one cabin to continue their yelling and music throughout the entire night disrupting everyone else who paid good money to stay here. Customer service is excellent!!! My friend reserved 2 cabins from this place however he couldn't arrive to pickup the key till 10pm on Friday. So they let me check in for him after ID verification. The rooms and living room are pretty small and tight. We have to be quiet or not too noisy coz it's connect to the office room and other customer cabins. read more

We had a fantastic stay at the Cozy Hollow Lodge! The front desk lady (Peggy) was friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. She was flexible with our check in time, willing to work with us when we ran a bit late. I was happy getting a AAA discounted rate, and simply had to show my AAA card during check in. The lodge itself is in great condition. We had two adults and a 15 month old toddler, and studio cabin #11 had a large bed, plenty of space for a pack n play, a microwave, small refrigerator, fireplace, tv and bathtub/shower. The shower water was hot and there were fresh towels stocked in the bathroom. The room wall heater (controlled by the thermostat) heated up quickly, so much that we didn't have to use it much, and slept comfortably. The surrounding area was quiet and I was glad there was always open parking spots right in front of the cabins. There was also an outdoor trash can right in front, for us to empty our trash (food and diapers). Overall, our stay was excellent! I was extremely comfortable with the space, the bed and the cleanliness of the cabin. I would stay again in a heartbeat. I have already recommended these cabins to many friends! read more

I don't understand how this place gets good reviews. The cabin is set on concrete blocks and is the size of a big closet - a very small living room and bedroom with nothing else. On top of that, it is situated on one of the busiest streets in California with hundreds of cars, trucks and motorcycles racing by. It was such a huge disappointment for my wife. I will always regret having made a reservation. Oh, I forgot - the couple next to us were 15' away and drinking. I could hear every word of their conversation. A bit later, they brought over three friends and were up until 11:30 pm drinking. It was a miserable experience. Last thing: parking is right next to the cabin. read more

I've stated here in the past and always had a good experience, but it's under new management. The pros: close to downtown Big Bear. The cons: no on-site management. You have to call the owner? property manager? to get a code to get into your cabin. What happens if you need something and there is no management to immediately address your needs? Second, they had taken the smoke detector out of the room. Dangerous move, but I guess the fireplace was setting it off, but still dangerous. Finally, the TV. A smart TV and unless you have a subscription with channels like Netflix, Discovery + and knew to bring you access info you are relegated to a cumbersome and less than functional "smart" TV. I will not go back to this "lodge" again. read more

I booked a reservation at this "lodge" and wound up having to cancel the stay. An employee named Peggy informed me I had to cancel through Travelocity. 96 hours prior to check in I called to cancel. Peggy abruptly interrupted me ( before she hung up on me ) and said I had to cancel via Travelocity. Travelocity informed me CHL's policy was to charge the full amount. After the Travelocity representative made several calls ( Peggy also hung up on him ! ) this may be reduced. I hope Peggy's attitude doesn't reflect this establishment, but based on this interaction I will avoid poor customer service every time. I wish there were a way to add negative stars. read more

Solid 2 stars. Awarded 2nd because it's cheap for the area and I got it short notice. Otherwise, pretty janky cabin. Floors were way out of level, spiderwebs and cobwebs everywhere, and it was about 85 inside when I got in. They had about the dinkiest a/c money could buy in 1995 crammed into the window in the main room with a sheet of plywood, the fridge was from about the same vintage and froze everything I put inside. The a/c eventually cooled the main area down, but I ended up opening the windows as well and eventually got to sleep about 2 am when it finally was bearable. Nothing was clean (cleaning fee was 50$), had a coffee pot at least but no coffee. 2nd night was better as I left the a/c running all day, but the bedroom still got very stuffy. It was difficult to sleep with window open due to proximity to the road. Could have been remedied with a decent air conditioner and fan, but had neither of those. Can't imagine how cold that room would be on a winter stay, as the heater/fireplace are also located in the main area, and the windows were all single pane. A little attention to detail would've got this to 3 or maybe 4 stars, but this felt shoddily executed. I stayed in the luxurious sounding "telluride" cabin, quite frankly I've had better stays at motel 6. Actually, scratch that. My bunk in Kandahar, Afghanistan was better. Showers were cleaner in Afghanistan too, but I still wore shoes for both. read more

Upon arrival in the middle of the snow storm the check-in lady told me that I can not bring my 3 years old child who sleeps with us on the same bed in the room I had booked. She needed to move me to a more expensive room and charge me the difference. I showed her my reservation where it clearly says that children under 4 years of age are free of charge. Below is the note from my reservation: "Please note: One child under 4 years of age may stay free of charge when using the provided room beds. All other children are charged an additional fee per night. There is no capacity for extra beds in the rooms." Upon reading my reservation she said that the website is wrong and that she needs to call Booking. com to correct this. I called Booking.com and they told me that it is the owner information on the website. Booking.com does not write the policies and terms of accommodation for the places they sell. In two words: Rip Off!! read more

Surprised to see so many good reviews for this place. First off, I find it odd that I had to pay when checking in for the total PLUS a $100 security deposit. I've never been anywhere that did both, not one or the other. Second, when one of your selling points is a hot tub, I don't think it's out of line to expect enough hot water to fill it up once. Ours was more like a luke warm tub. The third and most annoying part of our unimpressive experience was the 11 total laminated signs in the fairly small room listing all the things you should and shouldn't do, with 5 warning of an extra fee if you dare do anything such as leave the provided cups and glasses unwashed. I thought that was part of the reason I was paying someone to stay in a hotel. I was surprised I wasn't expected to wash my own towels, too. I think there are better and less anal options in Big Bear. And it snowed a few inches during our stay, was done snowing by 7pm and at 9am the next morning when we were checking out, no effort had been made to clear or de ice the walkways or the driveways. Guess we should have brought our own salt, along with our own shampoo, as the hotel provided neither. read more

Cute small and cozy but the staff (owners) are strange. Stayed there last weekend for our anniversary for 2 nights. The heater was a little slow and took quite some time to warm up. Bathroom is freezing always since its pretty bare. Rugs would help a bit. All they give you is a cheap bar of soap. The firewood and "starter" they sold us did not light. Asked for an additional blanket and we were questioned over and over again if we had more people in the room with us... (Fix your heaters!) Had signs all over the walls stating rules and fines for violations. I didn't really find it necessary since they already had you sign a contract. They did not plow until after 8am which was too late for us. Ended up shoveling the driveway so we could exit the parking lot. Overall it was okay... A bit pricey for what is offered. Next time I will check out a different "cabin". Cannot get over how creepy the owners are. read more

This place may say "cozy" but it was far from it. During our recent visit it snowed overnight and there was no effort made to "plow" the snow away from the driveway so that the cars could exit (nor did they have the street plow come by) - instead, an accident occurred as a couple of trucks were going around helping people. My opinion is that the lodge is partially responsible for this accident as they did not do any due diligence to assist the guests. Funny thing is once we did get out we recognized that every other place had been plowed, but us - we found that to be very odd. We were promised a "spa tub" of which was broken - there was a sign stating it was due to misuse, although we were told we would have one and the VCR that we were going to use for the kids was broken too. The refrigerator did not work properly, although the freezer seemed to work fine...??? The bathroom towels felt like sandpaper - I'm guessing they do not believe in fabric softener. All I can say is never again - the owner was not there when we checked out - figures, she probably avoided the guests on purpose. It is too bad as it is a cute place. read more

I would absolutely stay here again, BUT, let's start with the CONS...b/c some of these would be a deal breaker to some people. I think all the cons are easily fixable & i've added my suggestions. 1) The sheets were rough and scratchy. When you're cold and living indoors w/ the heater on, your skin gets dry. Dry skin is sensitive...especially on the face. I recommend bringing your own pillow case & wear soft PJ's to solve this problem. 2) No toiletries except a very cheap and tiny bar of hand soap. And no soap dish to put it in for subsequent hand washings. Personally, this isn't a biggie to me b/c I never use the hotel toiletries anyway...i like my own shampoo & lotion : ) But, i could see this being annoying to others. Then again, the rates are pretty good, so if that's one of the ways they keep 'em affordable, great. 3) No curtains on the windows. There are some pretty good blinds on the windows, but in the morning you have no choice but to start to wake up. When you're exhausted and needing that extra 1-2 hours of sleep this is a bummer....I recommend keeping your eye mask handy. Mine was still in my bag on the first night & instead of rummaging around to look for it at 7am, I stayed in bed, tossing and turning to avoid the light. NOW THE PROS!! 1) Kitchenette w/ microwave was so useful...reheating yummy leftovers to eat by the fire was awesome. 2) Fireplace is a must for a proper Big Bear experience. 3) Giant Jacuzzi tub in the room BY THE FIREPLACE - heaven after a long day in the snow ....and romantic : ) 4) Great location - super short walk to everything. 5) The separate little cottages gave a real feeling of privacy. 6) Grounds were woodsy & cute w/ outdoor spots to sit & enjoy the fresh air. Bottom line, this place is 5 Stars for the price. If more expensive, it'd easily be only 3 or 4 - but we got a steal & loved the stay. read more

After reading a review on Trip Advisor, I was hesitant to book my stay here. But seeing as I was booking last minute and the rest of the mountain was already full on account of the film festival -- the reason for my trip -- I decided to take a chance. Expedia got me a decent rate (I believe it was $111 for a Saturday night), and away I went. Before I even saw the place, I noticed the playground as I drove by and thought, man, I want to play on that! When I checked in and realized it was my hotel, I was bummed to find that the playground was for 12 and under. Isn't that discrimination? The staff was exceptionally friendly, giving me alternate travel directions over the phone when the main route was closed due to fires, and offering several breakfast suggestions for the following day. I nearly cracked up at the pattern on my bedspread -- very '60s den upholstery, complete with deer -- but the rest of the room was more than sufficient for the price. Having my very own cabin seemed luxurious compared to being in a hotel, and the place was clean -- a huge plus. You're only a quarter mile from town, so you can walk, if you like, and in the other direction, the alpine slide is just a trot down the hill. Minus a star for not allowing me on the playground and for the lack of shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. Who doesn't offer those? Oh, and the driveway near cabin 12 needs repaving. My car bottomed out with an awful scraping sound that made me cringe. read more

I thought this place was great! We stayed for three nights over the fourth of july weekend with my family of four, including a 7 year old and an 11 month old. The staff were very friendly, the cabin was comfortable, and we had a hassle free stay. I have rented cabins through Cool Cabins before, and Cozy Hollow is BY FAR the better option. It was such a great location, we were able to walk easily to the village, the lake, and the water slide at magic mountain. So happy we have found our new place in Big Bear. I've stayed at the Cozy Hollow 4 or 5 times in the last 2 years. My wife and I spent last weekend there, in a great little cabin again. The people who own Cozy Hollow are always Very polite, professional, and run a clean, honest, lodge, and care very much about our satisfaction. I've never had Any problems with, "Hidden fees," a jacuzzi tub that didn't work, or any other problem for that matter. They have always been Very attentive to our needs, and requests, Our latest cabin had the fireplace, queen sized bed, fridge, kitchenette, coffee maker, Wi Fi, that works, (That's saying something compared to other places we've stayed.) It was immaculate, quiet, everything worked, plenty of hot water, and blankets, and most of all, restful. I highly recommend Cozy Hollow. Romantic little get away! read more

After searching for an authentic campsite, I decided on Cozy Hollow Lodge. Owner Richard and his wife were very friendly, they even suggested a great place for breakfast. The room was spacious and "cozy." The privacy of having a single standing cabin was wonderful. I never consider watching TV while camping, but being that the 08 Olympics are on, the cable television was a plus. Oh, the outdoor porch equipped with chairs and a table was really enjoyable. The reason I placed 4 stars and not 5 was because the rooms are close to the highway, and there wasn't any outdoor fire-pit, although that is common with most places in Big Bear. read more

We had a fantastic stay. The cabin (#10) was as advertised. Cozy & comfy. Very intimate. Great place for a couples get away. The staff were very helpful on the phone and when we arrived. They know their stuff and made great recommendations on where to hike and dine. We only saw the pics on line but the cabin was exactly as advertised. We really enjoyed our stay. Room, bathroom tub were all clean. The reason why I didn't leave 5 stars : the smell of the room had a little "old" odor. And the fan on the ceiling were making noise. Also when use the little sink nub made crazy loud sound was giving us a little discomfort. Terrible service, ubelievably rude couple who first charged our card via their deposit reservation system online the entire stay 381 instead of the 169 deposit, when I presented this error to manager she was defensive and uncooperative. Once in the cabin tv and cable box both did not work, when we called, 2 times on it, the manager abruptly came into the room and threatened us with a fine, claimed we were smoking when the fireplace was smoking up the room. Upon check out we vigorously cleaned the kitchen emptied all of the trash, and was confronted again by the other manager on charging us an additonal 250 fine. We usually stay at a friends cabin however since the holiday was booked we opted to try another option. this establishment treats its guests like criminals and grossly misunderstands the value of any paying guest. I have contacted the Big bear vistors center and lodged a complaint. I would not recommend cozy hollow to anyone considering staying for any amount of time,. read more

I could not adore this place more. My boyfriend booked a weekend away as a surprise a few years back, and ever since then we've been back regularly. The cabins are cool during the summer, cozy during the winter, and relaxing and romantic. There's nothing better than returning from dinner, stoking up the fire or even jumping into the fireside hot tub (if you've pushed the boat out and gone for a 'spa' cabin). Reasonably priced, near every dinner and breakfast hot spot and equipped with your very own outdoor porch - it's a perfect romantic getaway. We'll be back! read more

It was love at first sight! Stayed for one night in a studio cabin and I wish we could have stayed longer. We were allowed to check in early for a fee which I wondered why since the place was dead but I'm glad we did. The cabin was beautiful, clean, roomy and smelled great!!!! The bedding also smelled very fresh and clean. I didn't bring a hairdryer and I needed an extra towel for my long hair so I sent my bf over to the office and they gladly gave him what I needed. There was one bad thing, after a long day in the snow I was looking forward to taking a hot shower but by the time he came back about 15minutes later the water was so cold it burned, actually it was beyond cold it felt like icy lake water being pumped into the pipes. I had to shut off the water and rinse off a little at a time to avoid the pain. I only knocked off one star from them because aside from the horrid shower experience and crazy loud heater noises keeping me up at night I really enjoyed our stay there. I really hope they fix their water heater so if we come back I don't need to fear the shower. read more

My husband and I truly have enjoyed our stay here at Cozy Hollow Lodge. When we drove up to the cabins we were so excited to see which one we would be staying in. The front desk was so gracious and offered to upgrade to another cabin for under $10. Our cabin has a relaxing fireplace and my husband and I only payed $5 at the front desk for firewood. Sitting out front in the porch is a must. So beautiful and relaxing here. My husband and I have already decided we will only be staying here for our future Big Bear trips!! read more

The *only* reason this amazing place got 3 stars is because of the jacuzzi tub not in perfect working order-- these cabins specialize in that amenity so I would assume they'd keep them working at all times. The tub had a very SLOW drain and didn't plug up correctly. The hot water also ran out pretty fast, but you can't expect too much in that respect, it's a small cabin up in tiny little Big Bear Lake. Besides that... I will say it was WELL worth the $119 a night we paid. I've paid far more then that for a crappy Travelodge room! The bed was soft and comfy, the heater worked great once it got going, the full kitchen was very convenient and the fireplace was awesome! The grounds were just beautiful and the playground was just what my 3yo needed to get her energy out! The staff was very helpful and even gave us a few restaurant recommendations and a coupon. Beautiful place and near everything in Big Bear. We had a great time! read more
