5 Kern's Cabin (Kabin on confirmation): The showers did not work correctly, the fixtures are broken and the water was scolding hot or freezing cold, not to mention plumbed the wrong way so hot is really cold and cold is really hot. This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. I would never stay with this company again. I rented through Air Bnb. First off, the only reason i leave this review is to warn fellow renters. Take pictures of the cabin when you arrive and when you leave. The condition of the cabin was OK and i had no major issues during my stay. My problems started two days after i got home. I received a request from the booking agent for $500! The message read: 'Thank you for taking care of the deck repair. Michelle' I responded immediately asking what had happened and that i was unaware of any issues while renting. I feel like this type of communication was rude and absolutely presumptuous that i caused the damage. You see, i went to Big Bear when everything was covered in snow. It had been covered for the last weeks from a previous snowfall, and the snow had not melted yet. When i arrived at my cabin, it was completely covered - including the deck. We were not able to use the deck for this reason. Obviously the rental company did not shovel the snow in between renters. There was no further response from her and she escalated the issue to the AirBnb team. There was no dialogue or attempt to speak with me regarding this, which I believe would have deescalated the situation because i attached a picture clearly showing that the deck was covered in snow/ice. It did not snow while we were there - this was obviously from previous snowfall. The damage pictures she sent looked like a burn marks on the deck. Those burn mark pictures were soaked in snow melt and ice. Obviously this could not have been done by me i my picture shows the deck covered in snow. Till today, after escalating the issue the rental company has not followed up with myself or AirBnb. It is unprofessional and unnecessary to work with your customers this way. This company turned my great vacation into anxiety when i came home. I would never rent with them again. Be professional, do you diligence and don't accuse your renters of damage because you don't adequately check your properties in between rentals. -Renee read more

This host is a cheater. We ordered a cabin from them on Airbnb. The house didn't match the description at all. No Internet, no signal, no hot water. It completely ruined our Christmas. We ended up leaving 1 day early and the host promised to refund that day. Then she reneged. Very professional customer service at arguing, lying and cutting contact off. read more

We stayed at the cabin on Snowmass and it had everything we could need. Our family enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen and relaxing in the jacuzzi. The cabin came with extra towels and blankets as well. We would definitely stay here again! read more

Spent 3 nights 4 days at castlewood estate and had a great time. Upon arrival the neighbor was out sweeping this location and introduced himself to us and assured us that we would have a great time. When we entered the cabin it was nice and warm for us( thank goodness be cause it was in the 30's). The cabin had everything we needed. I had to call family and tell them not to worry about the extra blankets and towels because there was plenty. They had a huge book of movies, games, wi fi, Jacuzzi, bbq grill, basically everything they promised. Michelle down at the office was great she answered all my questions and responded back in a timely manner. I would go back. The neighbor was right we had a great time. read more

Rented out the alluring pine cabin for my bday for president's day weekend and the cabin is exactly as described. This cabin was very close to snow summit so it was perfect since my group consisted of boarders. Would definitely rent this cabin again in the future. I took my vocal jazz group at the college I teach at to Big Bear for retreat. Big Bear Dream Cabins was beyond helpful. They were able to find us a cabin in our budget, provided a W9, and were courteous with the school during the payment process. They beat everyone else's prices, and were easy to communicate with. We were a group of eight, we had so much fun. The house was so clean, there was everything that we needed from kitchen utensils to clean towels. The hot tub was amazing, wifi was fast and there were many clean blankets and bed sheets. The owner is so nice we will be back soon. read more

Stayed in a cabin on Castlewood Rd., about 10-15 minutes from the lake. Cabin was great and had tons of space to accommodate the various age groups we had there. Only draw back was the used sheets that were provided. While not taking away from the actual experience, the cabin had several signs of ware and tear, that we felt we had to inform the company about asap in fear that we would be charged upon our exit! Outside of that great get away, and I hope to be back in the winter! read more

Amazing cabin rental on Fox Rd. in Big Bear. Cabin was well kept and had all we needed for cooking meals and such. Very spacious inside and out and a beautiful view of the mountains. We will definitely be looking at this place again if we stay up the mountain again! read more

Our cabin was ok, but you need to be wary of this management company as they commit false advertising and fraudulent business practices. Specifically, they will change the terms of the contract on you after they have accepted payment. For us, they emailed us two days before we were to arrive to tell us that they had delayed our check in time by two hours because their cleaning people would be too busy that day. Yet they refused to extend our check out by two hours as compensation. This is false advertising because we did not get to use the cabin for the amount of time we had paid for. It was not inadvertant or a mistake because they knew at least two days in advance that they were going to change the terms on us to benefit them. The management company should have hired more cleaning staff or told us when we signed and paid for the contract that they were changing the check in time. Rather they knowingly inconvenienced us the customer, refused to compensate us, and said "too bad" all because they didn't want to pay for additional staff in order to honor the contract. I can't review from a renters pov, but I can from a cabin owners. Michelle's would rather charge the owner for broken, stolen, or damaged property than the renters themselves. I recently went up to our cabin (because we were between renters and after it was cleaned), and I couldn't believe what I walked into. A broken deck, broken blinds(which she finally ended up fixing), holes in the wall, dirt, mold in the shower, dust, cob webs, missing bedding, stains all over the carpet, missing gate and wood stove handles, and a smell I can't explain. Instead of a relaxing weekend away, I ended up spending most of my time doing repair work. Michelle had nothing but excuses. Part of her job was to go thru the house twice a year to check on its' condition, she couldn't even do that. Or she did with blinders on. I actually had to remind her to change out the furnace filters. I would have let bygones be bygones (I have since moved on from her service), but she's so unprofessional I feel it a duty to dissuade other owners from considering her for management. I asked her for reimbursement from the security deposit for all the fixes I had to do(fair, no labor cost), gave her receipts and explanations for the fixes and she has totally blown me off. So lame and cheap (less than $160). Having her manage your property will give you an unwanted second job and many headaches. If it's not one thing it's another and that's the last thing you want from a property manager. I have pictures. I'm not writing this review for me, I'm writing it for you. Do not use this company for your cabin cleaning or management. The housekeepers do not clean the house properly and guests complain. My guests constantly complained that they did not have wash cloths, trash bags, paper towels, etc. Even though I always purchased these items for the housekeepers to put out. My house always had food under the sofa cushions and furniture, trash under the beds. They scratched all of my SS appliances. Never emptied the vacuums or put new bags in the vacuum. I'd find dirty dishes in the cabinets, windows left unlocked, and once the garage door was left wide open in February with the key in the knob. A renter called to tell me. Every time I told the owner she would say " sorry, it won't happen again". But it did over and over. She also booked my house but FORGOT to tell me when the renters cancelled. Therefore, we were left with no rent money for a prime winter weekend. She said it's just a courtesy to tell owners if someone cancels it's not a requirement. We bought our cabin in June 2014. It had been rented out by the previous owners and we checked the rental income for the two years prior to our purchase. After doing some repairs and upgrades, we decided to find a new property manager and see what happened. We hired Michelle of Big Bear Dream Cabins to manage the property. We gave her access to the cabin as of December 18th and she had it rented every weekend beginning December 19th. We were amazed and obviously delighted in her ability to keep our cabin occupied. First of all Michelle was wonderful to work with. She was very responsive whenever contacted and very communicative. Everyone in our party loved the home. When we did have an issue with the WiFi we called and it was diagnosed and fixed in minutes.
