I really wanted to have a great experience here, but unfortunately, my wedding dress alterations…read morewere filled with miscommunication, mistakes, and ultimately disappointment. At my initial appointment, I discussed several fairly straightforward alterations: taking in the dress, adding sleeves, closing the slit a bit, and adding a bustle. I was quoted for those services. At no point was I asked to put on heels to determine the hem, so I was surprised when I received a call days later with a new quote including hemming--something we hadn't discussed and couldn't have accurately determined without heels. At my second appointment (wearing heels), we agreed the length was perfect and no hem was needed. We finalized the price without the hem. The seamstress was unable to pin through the material to properly assess how much the dress needed to be taken in, but I trusted her judgment and was told we'd evaluate it again at the next visit. When I came back, a different seamstress informed me that the dress had already been hemmed--despite the prior agreement--and I'd be charged for it. I was told the hemming had already been done before my second fitting. To resolve it, she asked if I'd pay to finish hemming the remaining layers and I reluctantly agreed. She also had to take the dress in more--again, something that should've been handled earlier. At my final appointment, we added the bustle. I asked if the dress would be steamed and was told that it wouldn't be, as we hadn't agreed on that earlier and that the dress had come in "dirty" (it hadn't--it was brand new from the boutique). I was offered a discounted price for steaming and accepted it. When I arrived to pick up my dress, they had trouble locating it--it took about 10 minutes. Once I got it home, it was clear the dress had not been steamed. The sleeves that were added were poorly sewn and I had to reinforce them myself. A clasp that was supposedly fixed fell off just days before the wedding. I had to take the dress elsewhere to fix the clasp and have it professionally steamed. I did reach out to the owner about these issues, and to her credit, she reimbursed me most of what I paid via check (since their payment system was down). But even after all of that, on my actual wedding day, the bustle broke less than two hours into the reception, and I had to change. The dress also never fit properly despite asking at every appointment to take it in more. It was visibly too big and I spent my wedding day pulling it up constantly. I would not recommend Donna's Alterations for wedding dress alterations. My dress didn't require anything overly complex, but the experience was inconsistent, the quality was disappointing, and the lack of attention to detail created unnecessary stress during what should have been a joyful time. (All photos are work from Donna's Alterations before having it all fixed) I wish I had taken more photos

Updates on my experience: It's Wednesday, my dress still isn't ready. But no worries, communication has improved except my name isn't Jamie and my dress isn't a size large. This place deserves 0 stars, I did buy a new dress and if they charge me for alterations on a dress that wasn't ready for 3 weeks I'll cut my loses and leave it there. What a shame. Do better @Donna's Alterations. p.s. Sorry you're going through the same thing Jamie Edit to Wed. afternoon: I was able to pick up my dress today... and... I was feeling better when I went to pickup the dress because the original worker was there and the guy cashing me out was much nicer. That being said, the only difference between my dress two weeks ago now and today is that there is fabric sewed on crooked. There is no sweetheart alteration to the neckline, it's the exact same. I payed $139 for them to sew on lace. To the original neckline. That's right, quite literally would have saved time and money if I left the dress there. SO THANKFUL I HAVE A BACKUP DRESS. This place truly deserves 0 stars. What a disappointment. Glad I prepared for the worst outcome because that's exactly what I got.

I didn't need an immediate alteration so I can't speak to how fast the turn around time is if…read moreyou're in a pinch but I brought two dresses in for alterations and both were done in less than two weeks. They ask when you pick up to try on your garment. Anything needing more adjustments is done on the spot. Quality of the work was great, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I will be back for future alterations.

BUYER Beware! I never leave reviews but this place is dishonest and wanted to charge me twice…read more Very disappointed in the quality of a repair to my husbands shorts. His shorts had torn right in the crotch, and he really wasn't looking for any attention from the public so we decided it was time to take the shorts in for a repair. The repair looked suffice to my non-professional alteration eyes except for when he put these on for the first time post-repair he ended up getting another torn hem adjacent to the repair site. When I explained this to the gal at the desk, she had several reasons as to why the new hole appeared. She said this was a brand new hole and had nothing to do with the repair site. She stated the fabric was pretty worn in the area and that a repair couldn't prevent it from happening again. And then she tried to ring me up to pay again! I had already paid once for the repair and it didn't work. At the least this is what I'd expect: 1- fix this for free considering I already paid. 2-someone from the shop to tell me the fabic is very worn and a repair may not likely work (to which I wouldn't have wasted my money to begin with). 3- decent customer service I didnt get any of the 3. Save your money and go elsewhere! Buyer beware.
